Luciferian Exercises Using the Prithvi Mudra

If you have been following closely the last year, you may notice that I have experienced Lucifer in a variety of ways. I imagine that some may call these ways contradictory, not that anyone has been a jerk about it to my face thus far. However, I propose that humans tend to categorize things in ways that lead to oversimplification without always noticing overlaps and similarities because we can only truly perceive so much about the universe. When it comes to a vast being such as Lucifer, truly we all see him from our own unique angles without being able to fully comprehend his totality.

That said, let me introduce one more way that I have experienced Lucifer :) — as a Prithvi and Māra composite.

If you are familiar with Buddhist cosmology, you will understand Prithvi and Mara to be deities. Prithvi is the earth goddess whose name literally means "earth." She is first associated with some religions that now fall under the Hinduism umbrella. Māra is the very embodiment of temptation and desire, often confused in the West with being a devil equivalent*. In the Pali canon, when Gautauma Buddha is about to reach Enlightenment, Māra tries to confront him and drag him back to samsara through the power of desire. Prithvi rises up and protects the Buddha from this, enabling him to proceed to Enlightenment.

Deities in Buddhism are often referred to as "worldly," especially the lower on the hierarchy they are perceived to belong. This means, they can offer you materialistic boons and upgrades, but contrary to the belief of Hindu religions can't bring you to higher forms of liberation. Lucifer has indeed told me that he can bring me to a certain level of worldly liberation, but not to the less materialistic levels, whatever that means to me when I eventually arrive. By seeing him as a Prithvi/Māra composite, I generally behold him to have the kindness, nurturing, and especially reproductive (cough) qualities similar to the earth goddess. But as we know, he also loves pleasure and stuff, like Māra. So he is uniquely built to have a tie to this realm (loka, malkuth, whatsoever you want to call it) in which we all currently reside.

The Prithvi mudra is formed via connecting the thumb to the fingertip of the ring finger with all other fingers held straight and pointing upward. This mudra is classically used for a specific set of roles. First, it taps into the lower intestine and the part of the digestive system that processes leftover food into waste. So it helps with digestion itself as well as can be used for ridding oneself of energetic "waste." Secondly, because of its power with the earth, it is helpful with grounding and creating steadiness. Resulting through daily practice of this mudra, I have found more groundedness and a little more discipline than I have had before mentally, a restoring connection to my body, and successful efforts to apply it to trauma work while in activated states.

It also works very well with chanting Lucifer's mantras, particularly "Om namah Lucifer" or "Om namah Shukracharya." Not sure if the effect I have experienced is due to my special relationship with Lucifer, but I will say if you try that out you should prepare for a powerful yet intimate effect. Only do it if you are open to him fucking you, basically.

As for the other applications:

For grounding and restoring body connection, take at least 10 minutes daily meditating with this mudra. You can do any style of meditation, including object-focused or empty-mind. I usually prefer to draw my attention to my breath or the mudra itself. Lately, I have added shielding to this effort mostly because my morning routine is already long and a bitch is busy—I don't recommend that combination, I say because Lucifer is kind of giving me a concerned look right now that suggests he would rather I advise that you work on grounding and shielding efforts separately, but it's there if you need it.

For trauma work, especially in acute situations, I combine this mudra with Zen walking meditation. If someone or something just triggered you, go outside as far into a park or nature as possible. Shape both of your hands, or whatever one you may have available, into the mudra. Walk conscientiously and intentionally, one foot exactly in front of the other. You want to either concentrate on the stepping, the mudra wiping down your energetic body, your breath, or on emptying your mind. If you have a mutable and shifting mind like my own, feel free to cycle between all four of those. Finish when you feel better.

*Admittedly, there are some broad similarities between Lucifer and Māra. Under the name Satan or simply The Devil in Abrahamic folklore, Lucifer is the embodiment of evil. He uses temptation to separate humans from G-d or into Hell. In Buddhist folklore, Māra is the embodiment of desire and also uses temptation in order to keep sentient beings in samsara. Lucifer is the Emperor of Hell and therefore of demons. Māra is a king of demons (asuras). However, while in Abrahamic religions there is a binary of good/evil realms and therefore figureheads, this is not the case for Buddhism. Typically in Buddhism, hell realms (or what is translated as hell realms) are separate from asura realms. Although usually depicted negatively like demons by Abrahamic religions, asuras have taken a variety of complex roles throughout Hindu and Buddhist folklores and are sometimes even capable of achieving moksha.

93. Les comparto una infografía que hice con los Tattvas. Éstos tienen que ver con la práctica de Dharana. Dharana tiene que ver con concentrarnos en un solo objeto de forma ininterrumpida, lo cual nos ayuda a evitar que aparezcan otros pensamientos. 

La Golden Dawn los asoció también con los elementos. Siendo:

Akasha / espíritu

Tejas / Fuego

Vayu / Aire

Apas / Agua

Prithvi / Tierra

El óvalo de Akasha también podría ser negro. 

Pueden hacerse tarjetas o cartas con cada uno (o comprarse, aunque me parece que tienen un precio excesivo por lo que es y lo fácil que es hacerlas). En general, se hacen en fondo negro. Lo interesante de los mazos de cartas es que también traen las combinaciones de cada tattva, para realizar uno de los pasos que sigue a la visualización simple que consiste en combinarlos. 

Esta práctica la menciona Crowley en Liber E vel Exercitiorum sub figurâ IX. 

1. Primero, se practica solo la visualización de cada objeto. 

2. Luego, de los objetos combinados. 

3. Finalmente, los objetos en movimiento. 

4. Como un paso más avanzado, continúa la práctica imaginando “objetos vivientes” (un humano que conozcamos y respetemos, recomienda Crowley). 

5. Y el último paso, sería lograr conquistar los demás sentidos (un aroma, algo táctil, un sonido, un sabor). 

Como opinión personal, no me resulta una práctica sencilla, creo que requiere cierto tiempo desarrollarla, aunque habrá a quien le salga de manera simple. Logro “recordar” los objetos con mi imaginación, pero no “verlos” aún. Los de colores azules / violetas me resultan mucho más sencillos de visualizar.

Algunas veces, he visto imágenes de otras cosas interrumpiendo mi visualización. Siempre tomo nota de éstas para luego ver si tenían que ver con algo. Por ejemplo, al ejercitar con Tejas, algunas veces veo una imagen de un tatuaje oriental ubicado en el hombro de una persona. Tiene el fondo rojo y flores blancas. He buscado estas flores y parecen ser de Prunus mume. Aún no sé qué significa 🙂.

Hay quienes dicen que esta práctica es esencial controlarla no solo para la magiack sino para la clarividencia. Aunque en este Liber, Crowley solo la menciona como un ejercicio esencial para quienes aspiran ser examinados para la Astrum Argentum.
