This one hits a little too close to home these days
So like, I’m well aware that everyone on earth is struggling with quarantine in various ways and many MUCH worse than my own experience
But dae feel like they straight up do not exist without an audience. I’m like schödingers person.
Rufus’ House Arrest: New Hairstyle?
So what did you do when you couldn’t go out to get your hair done/cut during quarantine/lockdown?
my wip word count heading into quarantine: 50,000
my wip word count after 3 months of quarantine: 50,003
stop asking me “wyd” i am literally at home reliving the same day everyday
Crushes
I never used to get a lot of crushes, a few sure but I never really paid attention to people I didn’t really know. But ever since the pandemic started, I’ve been stuck at home all the time, by myself. Now I get crushes all the time.
The cashier girl telling me my dress is pretty=crush. Random guy at the library=crush. Classmates I know nothing about on Zoom=crush
And the fictional crushes are just as bad! Books, movies, tv shows it doesn’t matter, I’ll meet a character and crush instantly. I’m so starved for human affection that I’m developing all these crushes. My poor bi heart can’t take it!
Calling All the Quarantined!
With the recent onset of America’s quarantines, it is paramount that online communities both small and large band together for mutual entertainment, comfort, and encouragement. I don’t want to be another person spouting positivity without putting action behind it - I want to be the change. But instead of doing this as a one-man band, I want to bring us together to make a palpable, powerful impact on this community and many others like us in desperate need of a safe place. Thus?
I’m gathering together artists and entertainers of every kind to provide daily opportunities for interaction throughout our online communities! Whatever your talent - be it painting, baking, or karaoke - it has a place here.
Do you work at a gym? Why not lead us in some early-morning workouts since we can’t go to the gym! Do you know how to cook? Why not teach us all some basic recipes with common household ingredients! Can you play an instrument? Why not provide some music or beats to study, sing, sweep, and pray to! Do you draw? Why not host an art stream and invite people to create something together! Do you write? Why not host a word sprint with a prompt in mind! Do you game? Why not stream a gaming tournament and invite your audience to participate!
This does not have to be a significant commitment. Maybe you host something for one hour one night a week! Or, if you can’t do something live, providing resources and recommendations for others to enjoy is always appreciated. Imagine what we could provide for the world should we all take one moment a week to change the world. The opportunities would be infinite!
If you, like me, feel the urge to help bolster this community amidst its current isolation, please feel free to message me or respond directly to this post. I’ll be gathering interest through all sorts of venues and assessing the viability of doing this. If at all possible, I’ll have news for you all soon! Until then? Stay strong, have hope, and keep the faith, y’all - we will survive this. Together.
I have a pile of books to read yet none of them seem appealing to me. I crave to go to my favourite second hand bookshop, the smell of old books, the joy of finding an ancient edition, annotated books, torn books, loved books, you feel me?
