Prompt #7
Note: This episode is called “A Royal Problem”
Queen Goodfey and King Darius calls Arkayna and Zarya to the stronghold. They tell Arkayna and Zarya that they will be away for a day for a multi-kingdom summit, and they want one of them to take over, as Gawayne is not a good leader. Zarya suggests that Arkayna takes over, as Zarya is still relatively new to being royal. Meanwhile, Gawayne is being sent to his uncle’s place, as he promised to help Gawayne become a better leader. Gawayne’s butler, who has recently became the family’s butler and is being paid accordingly, stays to help.
Queen Goodfey and King Darius leave for the summit, and Arkayna is nervous about combining her responsibilities of being a Mysticon and taking over all the royal duties. The other Mysticons promise that they can handle all the Mysticon duties for the day, and Arkayna reluctantly agrees. She makes the Mysticons promise to call her if anything happens.
The day as ruler starts off well, with Arkayna using what her mom taught her, as well as the skills she learned dealing with others as a Mysticon, to handle various problems and duties. Just then, a guard comes, saying that the Vexicons have escaped. Arkayna calls the others for help, and they review the security footage. According to the footage, a masked person freed the Mysticons. The Mysticons decide to look for the Vexicons, but Arkayna has a lot of duties to attend to, including examining the palace’s security due to the escape. Zarya promises Arkayna that they can handle it, and while Arkayna stays behind, the rest of the Mysticons look for the Vexicons.
Meanwhile, Arkayna is at the palace, examining security cameras and talking to guards. She realizes that it was someone who has access to the castle, and initially has suspicions about the butler, as he may have resentment about how he was treated. She is about to fire the butler right away, but decides that she needs proof that it’s the butler.
Em suggests that the Vexicons would likely try to recruit Eartha, and they head to Rudick’s Hollow. They go to the Goldenbraid’s house, where Citrine reveals that Eartha was running an errand. They go into town to find Eartha, who is under attack by the Vexicons. A fight ensues, and while Piper and Eartha manage to escape, the Vexicons manage to get a hold of Zarya and Em, and Willa teleports them away.
Back at the palace, Arkayna reviews security footage. When she looks at the video, she realizes that the person who freed the Vexicons was too short to be the butler. She is about to make a plan to see who else it could be when Piper calls, frantically explaining the situation. Arkayna remembers legends of a stone near Rudick’s Hollow that can turn people evil, and as they were initially going after Eartha, Arkayna suspects that’s where they’re taking Zarya and Em. Arkayna gives Piper the directions, but tells her to be careful. Arkayna asks the butler to take over her duties, and while he is initially reluctant (Gawayne asked him to do that all the time), he quickly agrees when he learns about the situation.
Piper and Eartha go to the stone and arrive just as the Vexicons are about to begin the ritual to turn Zarya and Em evil. Piper and Eartha free Zarya and Em, and a fight ensues. Arkayna arrives, and while the stone is destroyed, the Vexicons escape. They take Eartha home before returning to Drake City. On the way home, Arkayna worries about what her parents will think of her day as Queen. Zarya reassures her that she did fine, and that if Queen Goodfey criticizes her, she’ll tell her everything Arkayna did right that day.
Queen Goodfey and King Darius return, and Arkayna explains what happened. Gawayne’s butler tells the royal parents all the good moments of Arkayna’s time as leader, and Queen Goodfey realizes that she did her best, and mentions that, as Dreadbane got in the castle once, she wasn’t the best at security either. King Darius adds that Arkayna was better than Gawayne in terms of responsibility, as Gawayne managed to avoid going to his uncle’s house. However, Queen Goodfey mentions that they do have to figure out who freed the Vexicons.
Kidnapper: We have your child.
Queen Goodfey: Which one?
Kidnapper: The quiet one?
Queen Goodfey: Wrong. I have none of the sort.

What if Zarya’s Adoptive Parents Returned?
What if Zarya’s parents did survive Captain Kaos’s raid on the village? I imagine that there would be a lot of mixed feelings for the royal family. I also think that this may have an impact on a certain elf, depending on how the reunion goes.
Her parents surviving the raid is possible. We don’t know exactly what happened in the village, so it’s possible that Zarya saw something that seemed to prove that her parents didn’t make it out of there, but they did. As Zarya was kidnapped by Captain Kaos, she wouldn’t have much time to look for more information about what happened to her parents. Plus, Zarya was fairly young at the time, so it is possible that she jumped to conclusions.
I imagine that the adopted parents (Mr. and Mrs. Moonwolf) left the village to find their daughter. As they didn’t think about what her daughter saw, and as such, didn’t realize what Zarya thought happened to them, they left without leaving a sign for Zarya that they are still alive (not to mention the fact that Zarya and the Pink Skulls didn’t seem to have returned to the village since). It wasn’t until Zarya was discovered as the lost princess that Mr. and Mrs. Moonwolf knew where to find her.
One potential problem is the fact that, despite it being known for a while that Zarya was a member of the royal family, her adoptive parents didn’t come. However, it doesn’t completely make this impossible. Mr. and Mrs. Moonwolf would realize that Zarya is with her biological family, and could be unsure about whether or not it would be best to take her away from them.
This would cause Zarya to be torn between both sets of parents. While she is happy to be reunited with her long-lost biological family, she does care deeply for the family that raised her, so she wouldn’t know where to go. This would affect Arkayna as well, as she may be upset with the possibility of Zarya turning against her family. Queen Goodfey and King Darius would be torn, because while they would want Zarya to stay close to them, they would ultimately want whatever would be best for Zarya.
In the end, I don’t think that Zarya would return to Mr. and Mrs. Moonwolf. However, I could still see them being involved in Zarya’s life, perhaps even moving to Drake City in order to stay close to her. Queen Goodfey would accept this, realizing that Mr. and Mrs. Moonwolf are important figures in Zarya’s life as well. I could see Mr. and Mrs. Moonwolf adopting Piper, as she does need a family, and feels as though Zarya’s honorary sister would be a perfect addition to their family. Queen Goodfey would personally oversee the adoption ceremony.
When Gemina Gets a Heat Wave
I don’t think the Mysticons themselves know any magic to cool themselves. If they did, they would have cast it when they went to the dimension where Necrafa was imprisoned. However, with how much magic there is in Gemina, I’m sure they would find a way. They would probably ask Doug or Malvaron if either of them know of a way to cool the stronghold down, if it wasn’t already done. If they don’t know, they would ask Proxima. If none of them know, they would search for a way to cool down either themselves or a specific area, sharing the information with everyone else. Until they find a spell that would work, they would do anything they can do cool the house down by using fans.
Due to the heat, some of the Mysticons may get irritable. I think that Arkayna and Zarya would be the most likely to do so. Even those who aren’t irritable would not be in the mood to do anything. Piper would be the most noticeable, as she would not have as much energy as she usually does. Em would worry about the griffins and dragons, and would make sure to check on them.
None of the Mysticons would want to leave the stronghold, as it would be cooler there then inside. However, Piper would suggest a water fight, which they decide sounds fun. They decide to do so on the palace balcony (Piper would originally prepare to have it inside, but someone else would point out that it’s a bad idea with all the electronics in the stronghold). Em would remember to put on sunscreen. Queen Goodfey and King Darius would see, and when Doug sees them looking, he would invite them to join the water fight. King Darius would be more than happy to join, and Queen Goodfey would follow. During the water fight, Queen Goodfey would make sure that the Mysticons, Doug, Malvaron don’t get too warm. She would especially be worried about Em, as she knows that dwarves sunburn easily. Gawayne would be in the pool, at least for a little while. While the others would generally just leave Gawayne alone (they want to enjoy the water fight, so they’d hope that if they don’t bother Gawayne, he won’t bother them) if Gawayne starts annoying them, they would spray him with water. Queen Goodfey wouldn’t be as worried about Gawayne, as he would be the type to go back inside if he’s uncomfortable, and would just occasionally see how he’s doing.
What did the Mysticons do for Lotus Night
Note: Since there was already a Lotus Night episode, I’ll be focusing on the following Lotus Night, so Arkayna and Zarya’s parents are revived.
Queen Goodfey would want to spend Lotus Night with her daughters, but she would know that Zarya would not want to be separated from Piper for Lotus Night, so she would invite her to. She would also invite Em, but she arranged to spend Lotus Night with her family. Queen Goodfey would treat Piper just like if she were her daughter, asking for Zarya’s help in picking out Lotus Night presents.
Em would go home, and Eartha would be spending Lotus Night with them to.
Malvaron and Doug would return home to their respective families. Whether or not Tazma is with Malvaron depends of if she redeemed herself at this point.
Proxima would just be about to agree to Queen Goodfey’s offer to spend Lotus Night at the palace when Nova Terron and Aunt Yaga comes, and they decide to spend Lotus Night together. They would exchange Lotus Night presents, and as a Lotus Night present, Nova Terron and Aunt Yaga would offer to adopt Proxima.
Was Malvaron ordered to bring the Mysticons to Nova Terron?
Malvaron told Arkayna that the Astromancers can help free her parents, which suggested that Malvaron wanted to ask the Astromancers for help, getting the Mysticons working for the Astromancers along the way. However, certain events made me believe that the main goal was getting the Mysticons to work for the Astromancers.
It is implied (at least in the chapter book “Secret of the Fifth Mysticon”) that the original Mysticons worked with the Astromancers. While it’s possible that one of them needed the Astromancers’ help, the fact that Nova Terron was so quick to start training gave me the impression that he expected the new Mysticons.
My theory/head canon is that Malvaron was ordered to bring the Mysticons to the Astromancers, and thought that the best way to do so was to tell Arkayna that they can help her revive her parents. As the Astromancers made no attempt to do so, I am under the impression that it was never part of the plan. And as Malvaron didn’t seem surprised when Nova Terron chose to destroy the codex without keeping the promise, I feel as though he kind of expected that.
The fact that the other Mysticons were there supports this theory. While it’s unclear how much time passed between episodes 1 and 2, I will guess that the Mysticons didn’t have much time to bond, and therefore, neither Arkayna nor Malvaron would bring Piper and Zarya for support. However, if he wanted/was told to bring the Mysticons, he would bring all of them.
I also think it makes sense that Malvaron would manipulate Arkayna if the Astromancers wanted him to. He is shown to be loyal enough to the Astromancers to briefly side with them instead of helping Arkayna Dave her parents from the start. Even though he did change sides, the struggle was there. Considering he had less time to get to know the Mysticons, and therefore form a bond with them, I can completely see Malvaron doing whatever he can to follow Nova Terron’s orders.
However, I don’t think he was only for the Astromancers, even then. I think that Malvaron hoped he would have a role in the Mysticons’ training. That way, he would be able to help the Mysticons save the king and queen and keep his oath to the Astromancers.
