I’ve seen other posts about this and now that I work as a janitor at a middle school I’ve seen it my self but I saw a poster kids made for their GSA and on the poster was a bunch of pride flags and the Alterhuman flag

Personally it makes me happy to see that kids are able to be more open and explore their nonhumanity in a safe environment. I’m sure it’s not perfect, nothing in middle school is. But it’s something.

When I was in school I was part of the GSA and being Alterhuman was not accepted at all. The amount of times I would hear someone say “it’s not like we are going to start identifying as animals or something” was very often.

Transspecies was an example of someone who takes things too far and was a mockery of the queer community. As a queer child and non human it made things really confusing for me. I had always felt and on some level believed that I wasn’t a human. But now I was being told that if I were to admit that it would be a betrayal to my other community.

I think a big part of it was because when I was growing up gay rights were still new. I remember when it was illegal for gay people to get married. I think during that time our community had no choice but to try to look as “normal” as we could because queer people didn’t have as much human rights.

With the newer generations they don’t remember what things were like when gay marriage was still up for debate. There is freedom to explore further because it feels like there is less at risk.

I want kids to be able to learn about themselves and not feel guilty for who they are. When my brother first came out as trans I felt like saying anything about feeling more merfolk than human would have been taken as insult.

I don’t blame anyone for making me feel this way. My brother had to fight so hard to be accepted and taken seriously as a trans man and I’m sure if I had started talking about how I was actually a mermaid and didn’t see myself as human it would have made things harder for him.

A big part as to why I hid and denied my identity was because I felt like no matter what it was going to harm my other community. I hope that maybe some good can come out of spaces like the GSA being more welcoming to non humans.

I hope we will no longer have to choose between one or the other

I'm honestly so fucking tired about the "if you are a misanthropist you are a facist/racist/white supremacist/ableist/whateverthefuck!!" Argument...

Misanthropy in itself is NOT just thinking "I hate all humans". For some can it be that? Yeah! And is that in a way very ignorant to say? YEAH!!! But that is NOT what like 90% of the nonhumans who use the term misanthropist with themselves think. It's almost ALWAYS thoughts like "some humans are shit", "some humans have ruined the world/are ruining it", " I hate some humans because they oppress me and what I am", or "I have been abused by some humans and I now have a general distrust with humans" (and many other possibilities).

I saw an argument calling being a misanthropist "self-harm"... What??? Theres a VERY BOLD line between " I hate myself" and "I hate some humans".. And that same individual was essentially saying stuff like how basically no matter what we are human or are in human shapes/shaped boxes and thats just plain ignorant imo. Especially considering they were referencing nonhumans in this argument.. Like I identify in EVERY SINGLE WAY POSSIBLE as nonhuman. Do I believe I was born in a " human shaped box"? No. I believe I was born in a lycan shaped box. And that same individual was calling someone (who was a misanthropist due to abuse) an ecofacist??? All because that individual said something along the lines of having distrust in humans due to the abuse and thinks some humans have absolutely ruined the world?? Dude...

In the grand scheme of everything I AM a misanthropist. I have a general distrust with any human outside of my friends and/or my family. And I HATEEE HATE HATEEEEE facists who are.... SURPRISE!!! ARE HUMANS!!! every single corrupt power/money hungry being is like 99.99999999999999999% human.

I also hate when others use the term "people" as a word that describes humans and is a "species inclusive" term. People as described by the Oxford dictionary (as a noun) is described as: "human beings in general or considered collectively"... I do not consider myself as a " people" or flat out a "person" 💀

This shit just flat out fries my brain like an egg. People AND other beings are so fucking exhausting (except for my besties 🙏) and atp I hate nearly everyone. Let others be "woke" "haters" who "self-harm" in peace. It LITERALLY doesn't affect you whatsoever

(And not to mention but 90% of the beings who are misanthropist or use misanthropy tags are mostly minors who have been put under systemic pressures or have been oppressed and ostracized by parents, school, work, the government, etc. And to say that loving yourself will fix that problem is basically just invalidating those beings feelings so.... Yeahhhh...)

Going to my towns pride celebration today!!! I’m so excited! There’s gonna be lots of people, so I’m bringing my earbuds, my fidget toys, and will make sure to take some breaks. Hoping to splurge some money on new pride pins too. Wish me luck!!!

i've said before that my gender aligns with my alterhuman identity. i think the same applies to attraction and every part of my identity, it's all really tied together and connected and you can't have one thing without the other. i am me, and everything that's part of me is very much me
