Why is it that most of the known perpendicularities are (or was originally placed) in mountains?

Is it related to the inverse terrain of shadesmar, i.e. the tallest mountain in the physical realm is the deepest pit in the cognitive realm? Then it would make sense that investiture would naturally precipitate there, and grow large enough to become a perpendicularity.

What are your thoughts on Notum?

Notum in WaT lights the magic rules on fire and throws them out the window, and for the sake of a cool moment in the Azir plot pokes HUGE holes in Roshar mechanics and history. So the explanation given in WaT, which is snuck into the epigraphs to hide from the reader because Brandon is at least half as ashamed with it as he should be, is as follows:

There are two main issues with this. Firstly, it is clearly something invented off the cuff, and raises a huge amount of questions. The biggest most glaring one is surely the spren have less of the "thoughts of an entire people" than they did pre-recreance? When the Radiants were at their height and operating across all of Roshar, fighting off desolations or being a governing body? So this should have happened before and should be *common* knowledge amongst the spren, if not known amongst the humans with 4 thousand years for this info to disseminate between the desolations and the recreance. We however don't hear of this once, which makes characters like Notum or Lucintia who want to help but are afraid of bonding look *really* dumb! It calls into question why we don't see any hint of it in any vision! Why it doesn't show up in the in world Words of Radiance! Weakens the point of the symbiotic relationship between spren and radiant in the first place!

But not only is this the case, Notum is Unoathed. He has a shardblade and plate bonded to him, acting as a physical realm anchor for them?? How exactly??? This shouldn't work because he's a cognitive being, this shouldn't work because he's entirely investiture, this calls into question why we don't have any records of spren/spren radiant bonds, this just. Does not work. On any level whatsoever and I hate it. Brandon said fuck you I do what I want and Roshar is a significantly more confusing and fake feeling place for it. Ugh.

Brandon Sanderson: It is not possible for them to be born Mistborn, but a Mistborn can travel to one of those worlds. And you could theoretically create one out of Hemalurgy on another world. You would need to bring people, right? But you could actually do it. Nothing would prevent you, other than the horrific, gruesome nature of it.

Guys I have a very important question. How does Nightblood speak Alethi? Did cultivation do something to it’s soul web so that it‘s soul thinks its from Roshar? Is Nightblood itself now a fururuchemical (sorry I probably spelled that wrong) metalmind of Rosharan investiture? This question isn’t really all that important actually but I want to know.

I headcannon these two as occasional research partners. Khriss always credits him as co-writer on the resulting papers, which has led to the amusing result of some unaware Silverlight Students thinking Kelsier is a reclusive scholar. (I mean, he never comes to do guest lectures, right?)The students are always shocked to learn what he’s really up to... (cough...Thaidakar...cough)

Incidentally, the book with the ‘Woman’s Script’* is Rhythm of War - the in-world one. Yes, Kelsier has a copy. The books with dots are written in the Artisan’s Script. And yes, that is a book about Nightblood. Yes, you should be concerned about Kelsier having access to that information.

The science experiment with two balls connected by a tube is real, btw. My grandfather made it years ago, so this is a little tribute to him. That thing was our family’s go-to science fair submission for years. Don’t try making it at home though! The glass is pressure sensitive and the stuff inside is very questionably legal (and possibly explosive?)
