Read to Roll!
last august, bibliophilicwitch and relevy ran a challenge called Read to Roll that i thought was pretty fun! I decided that I wanted to do the challenge again, just for lulz. there’s no time restraints, just whenever I finish the books. look for me participating in any other dnd-themed reading challenges they do in the future, too! a description of my dnd character (shitty sims rendition of them included) along with the books I’ll be reading are under the cut, but go to those links for full details of the challenge!
HOLY SHIT YOU ARE THE ONLY PERSON ALIVE I HAVE EVER MET (?) WHO KNOWS ABOUT HOLLOW KINGDOM.
AAAAAH RIGHT??? THE FANDOM IS SO SMALL AND I AM SO SAD ABOUT IT...
It’s my absolute favorite series of all time and I do a reread of all the books and all the short stories at least once a year. I really wish there were more people who knew about the series! I’ve tried to make my friends read them but have had very little luck with it hahaha!
Do you have a favorite book or short story?? Who’s your favorite character?? (I have to ask because I have literally never been able to talk about this with anyone before and I am VERY excited right now)
Happy STS! Do your characters celebrate birthdays or have any birthday rituals? If yes what and if no why not?
Birthdays are of extreme importance in the House of Stars and Moonlight, because of astrological birth charts. Heavenly alignments are etched lovingly into decorative glasses like mortal humans keep height and weight details framed in a baby book, but of course, these are much more useful. Knowing the signs and planets in their placements gives a lot of insight to a person. These charts are guarded as jealously as a True Name.
But also Tybee really loves cake and ice cream, and those funny party hats shaped like cones.
STS! What's something in your worldbuilding/setting that your character/s struggle with/against in their daily lives?
Thank you for the ask 💗
Thule is a military Island which is attacked quite often, so they are often forced to fight intruders. Thule is also in the arctic circle, so its dark most of the time at winter, making seeing their assailants harder.
And that’s really it for the main area they are in, as the earth/nature on the island is controlled by my protagonists sister.
This is definitely something to think about, maybe I could add more for extra conflict (I’ll decide after the first draft is written).
Thank you so much for the ask 😄
Read to Roll Update!
Well that certainly was a quick one! I've been meaning to reread The Slow Regard of Silent Things and this readathon gave me the perfect opportunity. Auri is probably one of the most mysterious people in this series!
I heavily recommend the Kingkiller Chronicle to everyone I meet. It completely changed my understanding of stories and how they are told. There's definitely a cinematic quality to these books and its lends itself so easily to imagination.
This novella though? It breaks so many rules of storytelling, but in such an amazing way. Even the author warns in the introduction that this story would be a bit difficult to comprehend. But, to me, I saw so much of myself in this book. Hell, it even made me care about the well-being of a gear!
If you're still on the fence or unaware of these books, check them out if you have the chance!
(Also, a little Hogwarts House plug because my character, Rubio, is a MAJOR Slytherin. Ambitious little goat man, he is.)

Thank you for the STS ask! ❤️
I don’t have a lot of world building to do because all of my WIPs take place in our world with made up town names. However, I don’t know about back in 1874 but Texas has some wicked summer heat and my western takes place right in the middle of it! So that’s unfortunate for my characters lol

I was tagged by @theguildedtypewriter and @ramblingsofabourbondrinker, thank you both so much! 💖
ONE / name / alias: I generally go by as Veronica, my real name, or Asch, my alias. I’ll answer to anything, though--people tend to mix up V names (ie. Victoria/Vanessa/Veronica--I’ve met a number of Veronicas who’ve had the same struggle) and it’s made me truly indifferent to what I’m called lol
