Remote Host is ending on July 10th...
...and I don't know if they're going to delete the Twitter account.
There are so many tweets with stories and art that aren't found anywhere else, and of course all standard ways of backing up Twitter don't work.
The only answer is to do it manually, but there are a lot of tweets, the first being posted on June 16, 2021 (despite the account being up since 2020).
It's possible to use the Twitter search to find tweets from a specific range of dates, which is what I've been doing to experiment with finding the very first tweet, so it's not like you need to scroll to the very end of the account's feed.
If there are nineteen of us, then we can each cover a range of 95 days.
And I know that sounds like a lot! But I did the math: nineteen of us means we will each get six groups of 15 days. Broken down like that, it's much more manageable, it's just that I can't do it alone.
There is also no guarantee that every day within a range has any tweets, but there are some days that have a lot, such as when a big announcement comes out (like at the very start, 6/23/21 has all the cast announcements).
Some tweets also seem to be repeats, like links, but I think they should still be included for the sake of completion. And of course, any self-retweets can just be noted as such instead of having to copy the content again.
The method of backup would be to copy and paste the original Japanese text, any links, any hashtags, any images, and the timestamp into an assigned Google Doc.
I'm in the process of creating the docs in a folder on my Drive, each is named for the range of dates. I will share the folder in a reblog to this post.
We have less than a month to do this, so please claim a doc and start backing everything up!
Once everything is saved, then we'll be able to upload everything to the Umatani Fan Wiki at our leisure!
Schedule and rules for this year's round of the Umatani Gifting Fest are up on Dreamwidth!
Sign-ups start on May 1st and end on May 7th. Gifts can start being posted from May 2nd onwards. Reveals are scheduled to happen on May 30th (might be delayed if not everyone has their minimum gifts by then).
What's your top 10 underrated anime?
Finding good anime that I've never heard of is something I love doing. It feels like I discovered hidden treasure! Sometimes it's a miss, but when it hits, there's this feeling of, "I want the show to be popular so everyone can enjoy it, while also wanting to gatekeep it."
If you have a top 10 list of hidden gem anime, share them with me plz !!!! Here's mine (in no particular order):
Scissor Seven (yes, I know, it's a donghua but it's underrated)
2. Sweet Reincarnation ( SO CUTE, you'll love it if you have a sweet tooth)
3. Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy (I know, I know, another isekai but its good ok)
4. The Gymnastics Samurai (emotional, cute, well-done sports anime)
5. Katsugeki Touken Ranbu (ok, ok, I like this one for the "plot'' leave me alone lol)
6. Deca-dence (great action, unique and colorful one)
7. Gungrave (ripped my heart to pieces)
8. Space Dandy (cowboy bebop but funny)
9. RobiHachi (look, I don't ship them ok, I don't see it, also this one is hilarious)
10. The Daily Life of Highschool Boys (HILARIOUS, this is what kids are like in high school, had a bad day? watch this show)
...btw, this is still one of my favorite Boueibu/RobiHachi more obscure parallels.
Like, what's all this stuff with sending demoted workers to Andromeda (it is mentioned in RobiHachi that Isekandar is located in the Andromeda Galaxy) and then pretending it's not a demotion is even about?
parallels
Alright yall, I've watched Link Click, Banana Fish, Sk8 the infinity, Robihachi, need more shows with homoerotic subtext where they may or not be a couple 🤣🤣
I have Nana, Yuri on Ice, and Buddy Daddies on my list for next.
Any other recs?
