Prison AU||Mindy & Dick

         Same cell. Same surroundings. Same stupid grey bed sheets. Same view. Same neighbors. Same routine, different day. Get up, sit in solitary for a few hours, lunch, taken out for exercise – manual labor – shower, dinner, bed. There was only so many days one could take of such repetativeness before they cracked. For Mindy, that happened about two and a half years ago. She was fine and then suddenly she snapped, unleashing all the rage she had in her little body onto the on-duty guards, the only way they had managed to stop her was with an injection.

          After the incident, she had been forced into psychiatric care. Spending even more time inside but not inside a cell. Not anymore, anyway. At first, she was strapped to a bed, not allowed to see anyone except for a nurse and whatever guard was on duty. Not like it was helping her situation at all, it just made her crazier. She had spent a good month in that secluded room before being allowed to walk around freely with the other patients. Whilst there, she only had the company of fellow inmates. Although she was placed in a mostly mens prison, the psych ward was almost entirely female and it was most definitely what she needed.

          After another year and a half of being in there, she was finally moved back to the main prison, back with the men, back to the exact same cell. Either they held it for her or the person after her wasn’t in for a long stay. They also didn’t clean or check the cell, her old sharpened toothbrush was still attached under the bed, along with a few blood droplets that had stained the cement floor. If you lifted her shirt you would find the exact cause of it.

          “Grayson…” She’d call out to the man in a sing-song tone. The only perk of being locked away in this place now was that Dick had started working there and whether he did it intentionally, he usually was on guard near her cell. He may not have heard her, but in Mindy’s mind, he was ignoring her. A scream escaped her as she whacked her hands against the metal bars in anger. “Grayson!” Causing a scene would of course get his attention, at least she hoped so.
