so do you think we can trick america into giving native peoples their land back if we spin it as a trendy feelgood thanksgiving custom.
Love or hate the queen, I think the point of today's events is that the focus should be with the people. Our thoughts and our support should go out to the people.
The people whose living costs have already been affected for too long, and whose costs of living, heating, and eating will continue to be affected. The spending of public money on commemorative events cannot be justified when it becomes more and more expensive every day. Winter is indeed coming, and heating a home is not always cheap. People who work, who live honest lives, and who deserve a worthy lifestyle that covers their necessities without them having to struggle endlessly to attain what they need, are facing a time of dreadful uncertainty.
Many British people are scared, are fearing for the future, are angry about the spending that the ceremonies of the next few days imply, at how much money will be spent while they continue to struggle to make ends meet.
And you all have every right to feel this way.
So please, my people not in Britain, keep yourselves informed. News broadcasts right now are going to be more emotional than anything, and I'm not saying don't watch it; by all means, if this matters to you, feel the way you have to feel. Mourning isn't easy on anyone.
But please do not turn a blind eye to the way people are struggling right now. If empathy and keeping yourself informed of current events is all you can do, then do just that. If you can do more, do more.
But don't ignore. Don't try to silence the people who are very concerned right now and have a right to be.
I once again wish all the strength to anyone who sees themselves strained because of the current events. May you find a way to navigate through this as smoothly as possible, and please don't give up. I love you all.
(I am not from Britain and by no means claim to know it all, I am merely trying to look at this from my external point of view after hearing British friends and contacts speak out about this, and I feel that those of us who aren't in Britain right now should at least do what's in our power to understand what's going on and why a lot of what's happening isn't fair and represents a strain on the population.)
