Shaolin Silk Reeling Practicing a core technique which is incredibly useful. Do you know what this technique is called? Staying upright because my legs are sore from training. Todays original plan for this evening was core and stability, but I really didn't fancy doing a strength based workout. With Shaolin Kungfu pretty much everyday is leg day. Feeding my tree trunk leg goals.
Stay relaxed, waste nothing
Golden Age Muay Thai Master Karuhat shows how to dominate your opponent through superior relaxation, balance and timing.
Never hurrying, yet always too fast for the opponent
See how his every move has purpose and no trace of excess tension. Meanwhile his fakes and elusive rhythms constantly force his opponent to tense up and overcommit.
The resulting confusion, hesitation and immobility create the openings that allow Karuhat to always attack in time.
Also note that even after contact he stays calm and keeps perfect balance. His opponents attempted attacks are largely deflected by his long guard. The opponents broken posture renders his strikes useless and Karuhat is able to off-balance while standing on one leg.
Relaxation, Balance, Efficiency of Movement
They are not just qualities or ideas. They are strategic goals, to be achieved in every fight. Lower level fighters don't understand and are quickly outclassed by their more masterful counterparts.
Both a physical state and mental attitude:
"Stay relaxed, waste nothing."
This is how you create and maintain initiative. This is how you stay one step ahead. This is how you do it.

Sanshou, or Sanda is the sport expression of wushu - when sparring was reintroduced in China, “free sparring” or “free hitting” uses the techniques of kung fu styles in a modern context. In sanshou tournaments, striking with the fists and kicking are allowed as well as throws and wrestling. Some rulesets allow knee strikes, though they are considered dangerous. Sanshou does not allow strikes to the groin or back of the head, and does not include joint locks or submissions. Because the clinch is very short, an emphasis is placed on quick transitions from striking to takedowns and takedowns from leg catches. Scoring is achieved by kicks to the body or head, punches outside the clinch to the body or head, or successful takedowns (in Chinese martial arts, a successful takedown is one where your opponent falls and you don’t!) A knockout also constitutes a victory (naturally) and in lei tai or raised platform matches an opponent can also be knocked or thrown from the ring.
Mi piace combattere perché è l'unico momento in cui credo veramente in me stesso.
