The Lagoon. Seacell warp x Sea Island Cotton and rose/silk weft, both hand dyed with procion dyes. This is a piece of weaving used as a baby wrap that was completed in Spring 2018 for my then unborn son. It was based on a lagoon because during the pregnancy I had persistent reoccuring dreams of water. They started from around week 34 of pregnancy and didn't end until my son was born via induction for polyhydramnios. I consider that the dreams were my unborn son connecting with me on a higher level of conscious. Despite all midwife appointments being fine, I still started feeling that something wasn't right from around the 34 week mark. I finally went in for monitoring at the hospital at 40 weeks pregnant and the extra amniotic fluid was picked up and an induction of labour was started. The whole experience felt very psychic. The resultant wrap measured 4.05 m with an 8 inch twisted fringe on each side.
