in the men's triathlon, one of the kiwi men was in the lead pack for cycling and the other, who was actually a favourite to win, but didn't do great in the swimming, was in the chase pack behind, so the guy ahead went to the back of the pack to slow them down and allow the further back guy to chase and catch up and get ahead, even at the expense of his own position, as he was better at cycling than running, so staying at the back messed him up. :')
