2... I wrote something and accidentally lost it, but it was nonsense anyway.

3, I attempted to write an actual fic, but it proved to be a puzzle I couldn't quite solve

4, okay so I would write some kind of meet cute where they're all stuck at the same airport for different reasons. an au where they haven't met yet. Mira has a long layover, Zoey is getting ready for a trip, Rumi... is also there for a reason I haven't puzzled out yet. anyway, there's a blizzard or something, Mira's phone is dead and her charger is fucked—broken? no converter for an American layover? something. Zoey is an old pro at this, she's got her chargers, she's got extra batteries, she's got snacks in her pockets. she probably has a big squishy turtle pillow/stuffed animal situation.

So Mira is trying to buy a charger, but even if she could find one (she can't) all the outlets are full, the airport is full of people waiting, and there's not an outlet to be found. she finally plops down, defeated, looking miserable, every ten minutes or so, she reaches for her phone on instinct, only to find it dead.

and actually? I've decided, Zoey and Rumi are traveling together, so I guess they do know each other? Rumi came to visit, and it's the end of her trip and now they're flying to... probably Korea. Zoey is fine killing time, plenty of people watching, everyone is so interesting, she's got a half written song bouncing around in her head, she's kinda boppin along to it. Rumi tho, is kind of captivated by Mira, and after the third time Mira reaches for her dead phone, Rumi nudges Zoey and nods towards Mira. Zoey just kinda quirks an eyebrow at Rumi, and then they're both watching Mira.

"Zo do you have a spare battery pack" and obviously she has like 3, what kind of rookie do you take her for? so she hands it to Rumi, who just kinda sits there fidgeting with the battery for a minute, before taking a deep breath and walking over to Mira kinda timidly. maybe there's a spare seat next to her, maybe she sits down. or?? maybe Mira has been watching them right back and when Rumi comes over, she just kinda tilts her head expectantly. and Rumi... struggles to actually find words, mostly because I'm tired and I'm not sure what she'd say. but she offers Mira the battery, and she's grateful to finally be able to get a little juice in her phone.

something something, blizzard gets worse, flights are cancelled, hotels are full, Mira's face is like 😨 and Zoey's like... my apartment isn't far from here?? something something, one bed maybe?? or maybe apartment is too weird, maybe they just all share a hotel room... with one king size bed, it's all that was left.

they're snowed in for three days.

Ok I think given the song's subject matter, at least one needs to be Rumi and Miyeong. Rumi and her complicated relationship with her bio parents, as told through the perspective of literal mirrors-- a scene where she is putting on heirloom jewelry at her inherited mirror and wondering which parts of her face wearing it looks like her mother's did in the same, a conversation in which Celine is giving a… """pep talk""" in her dressing room before a show about how proud Miyeong would be that emphasizes how she has hung over a lot of the most important things Celine has ever tried to say to her, Rumi midfight grappling a demon and fighting the same way her father did when unarmed, maybe a Celine and Rumi reflected in a polished steak knife over a dinner conversation…. just a lot of 'overheard' dialogue and action as told by objects that have seen a lot of people.

OK my Thirdline brainworm bit this bait so. In this world, Thirdlight left before Miyeong was even known to be pregnant. Additionally, Celine had unrequited love for both her bandmates before (and after) everything blew up. Thirdlight who was the first found of their trio, actually, and always seemed (from their pov) three steps ahead of Miyeong and Celine. Who spoke of the Golden Honmoon like it was a given for the three of them, always as a prelude to the things she would do once it was made (always alone). Who got in a fight with Miyeong over having been dating-- just dating-- and stormed off. In her absence came the breaking of news that Korea's Sweetheart was pregnant, and all that followed-- eased, publicity-wise, by tragically disappeared member and a crime scene with Thirdlight's blood at the scene (but no body). Celine hasn't seen hide nor hair of her since, and is torn between hating her for leaving and believing she's dead.

Ofc, on Thirdlight's end, some crazy shit has been going down-- what was supposed to be like. An evening + morning max of getting over it became a demon fight she lost, a brief but heavy venom/damage recovery on some random's couch, a reemergence to the news, a crazy plan that involved a faked death to keep the scandal in check and a relocation to Wildly Elsewhere to halve the amount of demons that would be drawn to Korea, and a lot of regret. She probably continues a mysterious solo career from whatever small town she remade an identity in, and fears contacting Celine lest the insane situation damage the Honmoon again (and that she would want nothing to do with her).

THIS WAS ALL FREAKING BACKGROUNDAUUHH the actual fic then takes place postmovie, obviously-- and I'm gonna say it's Celine's POV as she is 1. Mourning the SLS as she has been for 30 years but rejuvinated by all the love Rumi (and, kind of, she) is surrounded by and 2. Receiving a Very Strange series of mail from a stranger she is uncertain why she does not immediately trash. (It's Thirdlight testing the waters for if reconciliation is possible or wanted, because she is as bad if not worse than Celine at this sort of thing atp). Maybe a structure with a past memory piecing together Celine's side of the story and a letter per chapter. What is happening besides the memory and the letter in each chapter you ask? Reconciliation w Huntrix (duh) aaaand I'm going to say they and Celine are trying to figure out what's up with the tiger and bird and doing pet shenanigans. Celine is Tortured but the background action is silly bc I say so AND BC THEN AT SOME POINT DERPY IS THE ONE DELIVERING LETTERS. See it makes sense actually

see this one is really good bc theyre all doing this to each other all the time. Rumi reaching for Celine and Zoey+Mira. Huntrix reaching for rumi while she was hiding. Celine reaching for her girls in her own way but never quite getting to holding them. Celine is my chicken pot pie so I like that one. 3+1 Celine and Huntrix telling how she reached for each of them pre-debut. Rumi in Summer, Mira in Autumn, Zoey in Winter. and then in Spring it's them all together and Huntrix reaching back out to her bc theyre worried abt her postmovie hermit era <3

"Dad, they're not..." Milo frowned. Shifted his hands around. "I'm not cheating on Gabrielle with Jonathan."

Dan thinks back to their own high school and college and young adult years, thinks of all the mistakes they've made. Cheating was something their friend group had become desensitized to doing to each other, despite how much it hurt to be on the receiving end. They'd sworn to be a better person with Milo, which is why they were here. Staging an intervention after they caught their kid kissing some random boy despite being in a long term relationship with that girl from his art elective, Gabrielle.

Dan liked Gabrielle. She was creative and rebellious and intelligent, perpetually reading scientific articles on her iPad, smoking up with Milo when she thought Dan wasn't looking. She reminded them a lot of Vanessa, but she had Nate's easygoing attitude - sometimes Dan thought if the two of them ever had a kid, their kid would've been just like Gabrielle.

"Okay, explain what I saw then," Dan says to Milo. Firm, but not angry. They'll be damned if they treat Milo how Rufus treated Jenny.

"Dad, I'm... we're..." Milo took a deep sigh. As if he was afraid. "Gabi and I are both dating Jonathan, too. We're polyamorous."

There were a million ways Dan could've imagined the situation playing out, but not like this. Never like this. They look at Milo, and they think about Blair and Nate's sage advice about threesomes. Then they think about Blair's messy break-up with Chuck and Nate's equally messy break-up with Chuck. They think about Vanessa and Olivia and how they're engaged to each other, and how Dan doesn't mind anymore, doesn't feel hurt or left out, but when they were younger, it'd felt like there was something about Dan that made them unlovable. It'd hurt.

"I'm sorry if you have a problem with it," Milo says, obstinate, jutting his chin out and scowling. He is so much like Jenny sometimes that it stuns Dan that there's no blood relation. Milo is a Humphrey through and through, in all the ways that matter.

Milo at seventeen is also a lot more emotionally mature and responsible than Dan or any of their friends had been at seventeen.

"I don't have a problem with it," Dan says. And then, because they don't know what else to say, "‘I made out with two chicks once in college."

"That is not even remotely the same thing, oh my god!" Milo exclaims, but he looks less tense-angry-scared, so Dan considers it a win.

"I had two girlfriends for maybe a week? Then they both broke up with me to be with each other," Dan says. Saying more wouldn't be right, given that the kid has a decent relationship with his Aunt Vanessa and her fiancee Olivia. "All my friends at the time told me polyamory was bound to fail. That it was a stupid choice."

Milo looks upset now, relief crumbling into the face of someone who is likely going to cry but trying to suppress it.

"That's not what I"m going to tell you, however," Dan says. "More people involved means more feelings can get hurt. But it also means that you can experience more - and not necessarily negatives. To love and be loved by two people is a wonderful thing, but to break two people's hearts or have your heart broken twice is sad and painful. All I can say is... treat each other with care, all three of you. And that I'm sorry I assumed you were cheating, when I've only seen you treat Gabi with respect. Thank you for telling me despite that."

Milo leans forward, and Dan's arms open, letting their kid fall into the embrace. They ignore Milo's small sniffles, the way he's shaking. He must've been really scared.

Dan wonders at themself. At what they should've done differently, to make it easier for Milo.

"I'm proud of you, kid," they say, and Milo clutches tighter, holds onto Dan like he never wants to let them go.

💝what is a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?

we got everything we need right here (and everything we need is enough) is somehow my second most kudos-ed fic behind brutal??? I think I wrote that in a matter of hours, I can't stress enough how little thought I put into it, I just needed an easy mental break after starting time may change me (but I can't trace time) and yet and yet people really really seem to love it?? Which hey, that's great, but I really thought it would just kinda come and go, I had no idea it would be popular lol. (and yeah okay, it is a little frustrating that that one blew up compared to other fics I put so much effort into but that's the thing about being a creative right? How an audience responds is entirely out of our control)

🌿how does creating make you feel?

I mean what's the saying, hate writing, love having written. That's not entirely true, I love that feeling when the muse is so strong you literally can't stop, but on the flip side, I HATE that feeling when you want to create but just...can't. Anyway, overall, actually creating really makes me feel great, up until I share the thing with the world and worry no one is going to care.

🌈is there a fic that you worked *really fucking hard on* that no one would ever know? maybe a scene/theme you struggled with?

I mean I don't know about no one would ever know, but I worked sooooo hard on goodbye stranger. The amount of rewatching I did is just insane, I really, really wanted to address every single one of Serena's big issues and obviously I wanted to really explore how all the crazy storylines would have an effect on her. I read so much meta too, not just from here, but from every corner of the internet I could find. Dealing with the Chuck of it all was a struggle, as it almost always is, because it's no fun writing him usually, but I personally can't really write fix-it fic without dealing with that elephant in the room. So yeah.

oh my gosh duke is a fucking english nerd isn’t he? he totally comes home complaining about like… lord of the flies or the awakening or whatever and gets SUPER into his poetry units (and one time accidentally terrified a room via Very Good dramatic reading) and ends up sitting there at the kitchen counter writing essays about how gay that dude from frankenstein was and asking alfred if it’s “which” or “that” all the time

I think he can! I def headcanon that both his mom and dad taught him a few dishes & that he likes to experiment around with like, soups & stuff (where there’s a little more room for adding extra ingredients w/out it going Too Wrong lmao) absolutely would love to see him & alfred sharing recipes and tips and stories of dishes Gone Wrong. also imagining him sharing the kitchen with his siblings and them trying to sneak a taste of whatever he’s working on makes me VERY soft

and because its wintertime all i can think about are warm baked goods & sweets BUT actually, that works dkajsfl; that’s more baking than cooking but LISTEN. duke being a Good Cook, but having No patience for Baking feels like a good balance. (& would help bring in a good give & take by letting HIM have a chance to sit back and just Enjoy whatever someone else bakes for the fam) so like, cookies & fruit-filled pies & stuff!! yeah!!!
