A year ago today, in the early morning hours, I finished the first draft of Youthful Exuberance (Some Kind of Love) … and promptly burst into tears.

Sun god Aten and... love goddess Hathor?

So I'm not an expert myself but I was hearing a podcast about underrated love gods (Valentine coming up and all that shadda shadda) and Hathor came up and I was like "yooo, you sound familiar?"

And then I remembered it. It was like 2 years ago when I looked her up briefly bc someone made a Yuunoa theory and the gist of it was that if Yuu is/represents sun god Aten and if the cover of Vol 23 (see below) implies that Shinoa is/represents the goddess of the moon (I don't remember her name, but I think it was a goddess that was linked to cats/had the head of a cat) then that could be a foreshadowing of Yuunoa being endgame bc those 2 gods are married in the Egyptian mythology

Anyways, the op of that post got fact-checked by the whole comment section (lol). That moon goddess they were talking about is portrayed as Aten's daughter more often than not, is love goddess Hathor the one who's usually portrayed as Aten's wife and mother of his children (Note: including Aten/Ra*, Hathor had lots of spouses but all of them were related to the sun)

*Note #2: Aten and Ra are confusing to me but it seems like they are different entities, but there's a moment when Ra merges with Aten, though Idk if it's permanent or temporary

I didn't say anything at the time, but to me, the more I learn about Hathor the more I believe that there is a character who could represent her: Mika

1- The entity of many forms

Even though Hathor is known for being the goddess of love and motherhood, it seems that binding her to just a concept is unfair bc Hathor is known as the goddess of the many faces or forms. This is a little confusing to me, but she seems to have many roles. For ex, not only is she Ra's wife and lover but she can also be his protector if needed (more on this later). The way I connect this to Mika is that he's the character that passed through the most forms along the story: from angel to human to vampire to demon

2- Motherhood

I don't think this should be a surprise but I always thought one of Mika's most prominent traits is how motherly he is. He takes cares of others, he protects, he loves. We don't get to see this side of him often in the present (unless it's Yuu) bc of his trust issues, but I think it's noticeable how much he cares about others. And if that is not convincing enough, let me remind you of Mika's biggest desire: have his family back. In the dream Yuu and Mika took care of the other children, made food for everyone, bathed them, etc., Mika even jokes that they're like their parents and if that doesn't scream family-oriented then I don't know what does

3- The first vampire

I mentioned before how one of Hathor's forms is to become Ra's protector, right? Well, there's a story of how Ra mistrusted the humans and thought they were conspiring against him, so he sent Hathor in the form of Sekhmet to earth to punish everyone that was scheming against him. At some point Sekhmet tasted blood and, no longer caring about her divine job, she let her bloodlust run wild to the point she almost destroyed humanity. Sekhmet is the first vampire in mythology that we have records of. Not only do I tie this to Mika bc of his former vampirism but also bc his protection of Yuu was at his peak when he was a vampire

Jerra *to Astarion*: I'm not kind.

Also Jerra, when dealing with any of the bazillion traumatised kids throughout the game:

Astarion: *silently commits to collecting every dictionary they come across, ripping out the page with the definition of "kind" and compiling these pages into a huge book, so he could throw it at Jerra's head*

But the funny thing is: Jerra is serious. She doesn't consider herself a kind person. Kind people, she thinks, have life on their minds. They live. They think of giving to life and sharing. They wake up and go to sleep with the thoughts of what they will see the next day and what the next day will grant them.

Jerra thinks of death.

It's always in the back of her head, always there: a grim reminder of how the world actually works.

Kind people endear her and make her feel uneasy because she knows the fragility of their mirth: how quickly it all can be shattered, how one rotten person or one act of cruelty can wipe the smiles from their faces or suck out the joy of expecting tomorrow. She doesn't want that to happen to them; she doesn't resent them, but she knows that even though she is the one who would kill the said rotten person and put an end to their cruelty, she won't restore what's been broken. She will always be an extension of the tragedy that happened. And to be the one delivering vengeance means being merciless. An honorable opponent? A dignified end? The "if you kill me, you'll be no better than me" speech? Oh, she could care less of this drivel. She isn't here to be better than someone. She is here to give tyrants and tormentors back what they have generously given to others, not to give them a fancy duel or a lecture. If she is here, it means, it's too late for a lecture. She is here to be everything they were afraid of. I imagine, that she had walked out of the houses carrying someone's head even before Nere.

So, in truth, Jerra is a lot more cynical everyone gives her credit for, and she always anticipates the worst - she isn't just loud about it. Also, she is like this because it's part of her calling, not because she is happy to rain on everyone's parade, which is why she won't drag others into her place: she'd kick them out somewhere nicer because why, in the Hells, would they want to be here? Shoo.

And, she doesn't see a point in being harsh to a kid. Especially a lost and scared orphan whose mere existence is uncomfortably familiar. She won't coddle them or lie to them: she knows that children are smart and won't take kindly to sugarcoated half-truths, but they are also vulnerable and helpless, and it's not their fault. So, she is always honest with them but doesn't deny them the comfort they need - because why would she?

Whether or not this is good or bad news depends on your opinion of me but I’m honestly not cool enough to have any Mortal Enemies so I guess the real question is - is this breaking news? What constitutes “breaking” news? What is actually breaking in those situations, is it our attention to mundane tasks in favour of something exciting? Is it our expectations? I’m sure greater minds than mine have philosophized on this very important question, I shall leave it with them to determine an answer.

ANYWAYS, I’m back to my shenanigans, here’s what’s on my docket for those five beloved mutuals of mine who might be mildly interested:

I have finished editing the next chapter of TWILE however I’m going to hold off on posting until Saturday so I can get back to a weekly posting schedule, and use these few days to try and get ahead a bit because I have a stupidly busy month coming up - but GOOD NEWS (again dependent on your opinion of me but it’s good news for me so I’m just gonna roll with it) I will have even more time to write than ever before once the chaos has calmed down to a manageable level

I will be catching up on messages, comments and reblogs in the next day or so, I’m so so sorry for the ghosting, it was not my intention AT ALL and I love (platonic*) each and every one of you who has reached out recently 🥰

My fave fave fave is Apocalypse AUs or Band AUs, but I talk so much about bands lemme do apocalypse!

I picture finding Shindou in to the outbreak, when it isn’t that bad and there’s just camps set up outside the city. He can see how scared and and nervous I am as he comes to sit beside me and starts talking to me and making me laugh— he ends up giving me lessons on how to use a knife (like the one he carries on his belt hnnnng) and when the camp gets overrun his first thought is to find me, that he isn’t leaving without me and he ends up protecting me throughout the outbreak.

Bakugou and I would’ve been together before it even happened, dating for the longest time. But the moment the city starts to get evacuated we lose each other— and he makes it his mission to find me again. Like no matter what he’s going to look for me and find me. Different groups try to get him to stay with them, seeing how strong he is and what an asset he is to the group but he’ll never stop until he finds me. Even when he starts giving up hope that I’m not alive, entertaining those dark thoughts that I might be dead— he keeps searching. And then the moment he finds me again it’s like I’ve seen a ghost? Like I don’t wanna believe that it’s really him and that he’s really here. “I promised I’d find you, I swore I’d fucking find you didn’t I?” And he’s just clinging to me, my tears staining his shirt as he holds the back of my head and just clings to me, and he’s like “I swear I’m never letting you go ever again.”

I can imagine meeting Kirishima months into the outbreak, the group I’m in are wary of other groups having been burned so many times before— losing so many people. And Kiri’s group is kinda the same? It’s such a hostile environment— borderline war zone but there’s just something trustworthy about Kirishima. He says he doesn’t like the group he’s with and he wants to leave them, that they aren’t good people. He knows good people… or knew good people. And we both just kinda find solace in each other? Convincing my group to let him in, telling them that he’s searching for his friends. But just finding comfort in each other after losing so many people close to us? I can imagine his group seeing.

Awase I feel like would save my life by chance. I’m one step away from having my face eaten by a walker and he’s there with his metal bat and he just caves it’s head in. And he’s checking if I’m alright, his chest heaving from adrenaline as I’m just nodding my head. And we both find out that we’re lost and alone— both separated from our groups, with no idea where to go and barely any supplies… and we just kinda decide to be alone together? We start travelling side by side, protecting each other and looking out for each other? Promises that we’ll find each other’s groups, but having each other makes it a little easier… a little less lonely.
