Trick or Treat for fandom: Something about Helena and Babs?
thank you!!!! i will share some of the au ideas i had for helbabs :) warning they're written very roughly and not at all professionally or coherently 🥲
1) college:
academic rivals, they're like the two smartest kids who always argue about the like "i got 3" "but i got 2.3636387" "bitch have you ever heard of approximation" "sorry for being hardworking i guess" "ARE YOU CALLING ME LAZY?" -- but you also get cutesy wholesome moments because i imagine they both bond over not being able to relate to the whole partying frat scene
helena ends up sitting next to babs at a quiet corner of a house party, and she starts ranting about how annoying their classmates are with casual humour as if they're close friends, and babs laughs and agrees with her rants and joins in, and that's how they become the friends of the frenemies part!
2) 1950s:
in which babs is the commissioner and helena is a mafia don. they're professional rivals by day, secret wives who are tired of each other's shit (affectionately) by night when nobody's around. there's comedy, there's tension, and there's the angst of where they wish they didn't have such a huge professional barrier in between them, but hey, what's more romantic than the thrill?
3) forced marriage or accidentally got married:
they're freaking out and blaming each other yet neither of them are actually taking the steps to, you know, reverse their marriage. i guess what happens in vegas stays in vegas!
4) fake dating:
where they both need a partner to attend this fancy wayne gala and they need to be CONVINCING. you think it's a one time thing but NO it's a huge thing now and it's just MUCH EASIER to keep up with the "facade" because... you know! 🤭
5) romeo vs juliet style rom com:
in which they live a normal life in a normal world with no superheroes or whatever, and you get a cute teacher x librarian romance going on here. but things kind of start to heat up when they get serious and it's time to start involving their parents... even though helena hails from a mafia family and babs' dad is the commissioner on their case
6) vampires!
it's basically just dc vs vampires, except what if helena was a normal, devoutly catholic human who HAD to fall for her long-term rival babs, THAT TOO AFTER SHE BECAME A VAMPIRE
