Sparda was fascinated with petit creatures, in especial babies — human or animal babies, but mostly human. In his field, they’re so little, so fragile, innocent and able to be whatever they wanna be; nothing like a demon that is projected to accomplish one unique function from the moment of birth and will die on it eventually. Just like he was projected to be, and yet he broke free from that cycle and managed to be something entirely new. Those little creatures have a whole constellations of possibilities.

So, when the twins were born, he wanted more than anything for his sons to be something entirely new as well, even if they had to follow on his steps at the beginning and well, they had to keep themselves safe and sound on that reality of being sons of the Legendary Dark Knight, the Savior of humanity. But just at the beginning, because they, as well, had constellations of possibilities. He only wanted the best for Dante and Vergil.

Who are your favorite characters of Kyou Kara Maoh? Do you have any ships?

Hello! Yes, I have many characters I deeply love, but being honest I like all characters in this series. Even bad guys or irrelevant ones, because everyone of them have interesting aspects or developments haha.

My top is Yuuri and Wolf, it’s hard to decide who I love more, don’t make me choose. It’s like asking Greta "do you like better dad or daddy?” XDDD They’re my main OTP, and I consider them very canon in the novel/manga/musical verse. They’re the most cute family ever.

Then, there’s Josak, who I started loving super deeply when I read more and more about him in the latest timeline, novels and specials. And following him, there’s Gwendal. Josak x Gwendal is my guilty pleasure, I consider Gwen and Anissina one of the most canon pairing of this series so I just can’t break that (and I like the pairing a lot), but he and Josak have such an interesting relationship that I just can’t help it haha. My headcanon is Josak having a crush on him since they meet. This is super weird if you’re accustomed to the anime, because by far Conrart x Josak is the most popular/expected pairing along fans, the thing is, in the novels Conrart is kind of an ass with Josak in one of te specials and they had so many conflicts in the main novels that I just don’t see that happening like ever. In contrast, Josak’s relationship with Gwendal is really close, as a subordinate/boss but also at a personal level.

Since Gwen is taken, and confirmed as straight, I ended up pairing Josak with Murata. And this is actually my secondary OTP in this series haha. They have a good relationship in the novels, they share a sense of humor and intelligence, they’re both trolls and like mocking other chars in a silly way, and there’s some plot drama between them which makes their relationship more interesting. I would love to see more about them together in the novels, it seems Josak is the best aid for Murata plot wise so they’ll develop more (damn hiatus), but in this case it was the manga the one who provided. Temari-sensei seems to pair them, or that was my impression when the amount of images of them together, touching, hugging and things like that increased in the latest chapters hahaha. She sold me the pairing, honestly it was the manga what made me start thinking about them together and then everything fit perfectly in the novel canon. Murata is also one of my favorite characters, and the one which I relate the most at a personal level. So, yes, Joken for the win.

Besides that, I support the idea of Chevallier x Cherie in the future, if that becomes canon I’m super ok with it. It could also be fun, because Gwen met/approved the guy and a 4th marriage could bring some funny family-chaos moments with the three brothers. So, yes, Chevallier is a super ok. Then, there’s Fanfan, her current boyfriend/lover. But I do love to think about him being a bad guy and I sense that relationship is not going to work in the end if the boxes and war trading is involved in all this. Deep plot issues with this guy, he’s not bad but I don’t really see him lasting long as a potential stable partner for her.

Another pairing that’s canon and I support a lot is Adalbert x Julia. Super sad ending, but lovely couple, they loved each other so much and it’s super cute. Then, in the present timeline, I like the idea of Adalbert x Maxine with the shinzoku twins Jason and Freddy as adopted daughters. It’s just great, Adalbert cooking for his family and taking care of everyone xD Super cute. Also, it’s great for Maxine’s development, who improved incredibly in all these volumes, so extra points for that. Side note, T-sensei supports Machopony!

Even if Dacascos divorced once or twice, I support him with his wife Amblin. Go Dacascos! xD They have a daughter to take care of too.

Some time ago I though about Conrart x Gisela, but she’s too lesbian for that haha. She need an awesome girlfriend but there’s no one to pair her with.

Shouri x Abby seems possible too, there’s not much development and the girl is crazy, but well, it’s ok if it happens. If I have to pick a less-favorite character, I would pick Shouri, then her XD so I’m not very interesting in their love life haha.

So, Conrart and the maidmer cracks me up to no end, but let’s admit it was heartwarming when he felt touched she would laugh at his jokes. One of my fav romantic scenes haha. She was good girlfriend material, you were right Conrart.

And I think that’s it? I’m not sure, there’s so many chars and possibilities haha.

So nice that Hide totally forgot his manners and used Nobu’s name so casually and then he tried to cover up his mistake by acting all high and mighty :P

Warrior Father and twin sons

Something something, Sparda was a good father (in my head at least) and the way that the canon sorta implies the contrary kills me every single time I stop to think about it like right now. Because there is no way he wasn't a good father. Sparda was capable of loving a human, the beings from whom he nourished care and devotion, how come he wasn't capable of loving his own children, a result of that same love never enters my mind. I believe 100% Sparda was there for Eva; from the moment they decided to decore the nursery, shopping for baby clothing, picking names, giving her reassurance and taking good care of her, to the very moment of the twins' birth. He was always there for them, his own family, and I'll not accept he was an bad husband nor an bad father.

I am so into the headcanon that Sparda actually managed to talk with the baby twins, even if they're just all about babbles and coos, he will be there for his sons.

Now picture this: a tall demon on his human form, sat on his favorite couch, holding two chubby and devilish adorable babies on each arm while having a whole conversation with them.

"Tell me, Dante. How is it like to share a crib with your brother?"

"Babababa!"

"I see."

"Dadada!"

"Don't be so harsh on your brother, Vergil. He may chomp on your feet, but it is his own way to show affection for you."

preface by saying: I haven’t seen the series in about 7 years other than a few eps here and there BUT

I’m always a Wolfram fan, I can’t help it, he’s just my type! But honestly, I really, REALLY love Cecilie so much, I think she’s a great character with a surprising amount of depth. At first I just thought she was funny but over the course of the series I really grew to love her!

I also really like Gwendal, we named one of our cats after him and he’s a very handsome boy!

I love almost all of them though, I don’t think there’s anyone that I dislike? Most of them are at least interesting for their role in the story if nothing else.

As for ships, it’s been too long so I don’t remember if I had any other than the obligatory Yuri/Wolfram. Thanks for the ask!
