I get badmouthed for banning people on SquidgeWorld who violate the Terms of Service. They think I can't watch their behavior, like today. I was accused of banning someone unjustly.

Here's what people don't understand. I see. EVERYTHING! Here's evidence of the violation in image form:

First field is the date, second is the work ID, and the third field is the number of chapters that they supposedly read in that story.

This person said they read 4 stories, 38 chapters, and tens of thousands of words in 36 seconds. Then yelled at me for banning them for commission spam messages.

Here are the receipts. I will always protect Squidge users. Commission spammers are NOT welcome.

Given how much we all rely on ao3, and all collectively freak out when it goes down, I wanted to share an alternative I found.

It's called Squidge World

It's basically the same as ao3, just with the colors changed, and some things ao3 doesn't have:

Like NB and qpr pairing tags,

and disallowing ai generated work unless under specific circumstances,

among other things.

I will be making an account and posting all previous and future fics there as a back up (under the same name), just in case.

(Which as of rn, is just polytrix and lennabel, but still)

And I encourage others to do the same

The Best Friend Squad Meets Huntrix

Great story I like his you mixed the characters together and got Rumi to trust her friends with her secret. 'At one point, Entrapta walked out to the balcony and pressed a button on her tracker pad and spoke softly "Bring Darla around." The girls suddenly heard a massive whirring sound. It then stopped. Entrapta gave the command to uncloak the ship, something that Melog understood' I love this bit. It shows how much Entrapta has grown she just understands when it's time to leave and even understands that melog will know what is being asked of them. Fandom (de)centralization

With the hardware-related intermittent outages at AO3, several people had a discussion in one of the news posts about the fandom centralization that has taken place over the past 15 years of AO3 existing.

At the same time, the fractures of decentralization - especially with things like invite-only discord servers etc - is also taking its strain on fandom as a community effort. And let's not even start talking about the commodification of fanworks.

So rather than start a discussion this, I'd like to point out a few AO3 alternatives other archives than AO3 (as it has been pointed out to me, these are not AO3 alternatives and I apologize for my word choice) for times of outages and maybe mirroring of your fanworks or hosting somewhere that is not AO3. A lot of us have lived through purges like strikethrough and while we do have AO3 and while I am glad for AO3, it's not infallible.

SquidgeWorld Archive (runs OTW software) - has also NB as relationship category and is pretty much an all purpose archive. You may be familiar with Squidge fandom image hosting or Squidge hosting space for fandom pages. All related.

superlove - a smaller archive run by melo, not currently giving out new invites but worth keeping an eye on. also runs OTW software

Ad Astra - Star Trek Fanfic Archive, also runs OTW software

CFA Archive - Comic Fanfic Authors Archive also runs otw software

Dreamwidth - is more of a blogging platform running the old LJ code, but pre-AO3 a lot of us had our fanfic on LJ. DW is fan-owned and allows the same things AO3 does.

Please read the ToS for any archive you might want to use.

Every fanfiction platform has that one fanfic that crossovers so many different fandoms that the categories section of the work feels like a list of media recommendations instead.

You can't avoid it, it's a canon event.
