Your Blorbo had to eat the last food you ate (not a leftover, but the exact same food that you ate; for instance, if the last food you ate was Jajangmyeon, they’d have to eat a fresh bowl of Jajangmyeon too).
Would they be happy about it?

rumi and mira get sent to an alternate universe burbank where zoey, because she’s in the us, never gets discovered despite her connection to the honmoon, and instead became a grungy bartender with a half shaved haircut, covered in tats and piercings that works at a dive bar which rumira stumble into one night.
she’s EXTREMELY flirty with them, and way more confident than the zoey they’re used to and in a different way, and she’s a bit of a pessimist. she also already has some control over the honmoon, including being able to summon her shin kals. she uses that control and her shin kals as party tricks in her bartending, which earns her a lot of tips. this tends to make the other, male bartenders jealous, and one night rumira end up helping zoey defend herself from them when they try to jump her and steal her tips after work.
they realize eventually that their goal while in this universe is to get zoey to go to korea to become a hunter, which is proving extremely difficult to do when she refuses to believe that chasing her dreams if being a musician will land her anywhere and that there’s no way the universe would ever chose her to be something as important as a demon hunter (let alone that demons exist). not to mention the fact that rumira cant go five minutes of looking at her without a little bit of drool dribbling out of their mouths. (mira has already taken some style notes she plans to give to their zoey when they get home) (rumi turns bright pink every time zoey looks at her for more than 40 seconds)
she keeps trying to hook up with them, but they at first can’t decide if that technically counts as cheating, and then eventually decide that it’d be unfair to this universe’s rumira if they denied them the chance to have zoey’s first kisses with her soulmates.
(they do have to fuck several times in order to get the edge off)
(this universe’s rumira are a pair of anxious weirdos who have only spoken to each other for the past five years after this universe’s celine was killed in a hunt)
(the moment they lay eyes on this universes zoey they latch onto her like a pair of kittens latches onto their owners shirt. coincidentally, she immediately starts calling them both “kitten” as soon as she meets them)
rumira are glad they managed to help bring them together but are also a little annoyed that these socially awkward dorks and the weirdo loner managed to basically become a polycule at first glance when it took them almost 8 years and an extremely traumatic event
(as soon as theyre back in their universe their zoey is POUNCING on them, crying about how worried she was and how much she missed them and where did they go and she loves them so much and kissing their cheeks and mouths and other parts, and theyre like Oh Yeah That Grunge Shit Is Hot But Our Girlfriend Is A Fucking Dorky Goddess)
You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.
By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.
I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?
it's probably from assholes making asks a minefield of trolling/harassment for years with no real blocking ability, which turned people off from allowing asks on their blogs so as a whole the site moved away from it
but now that we do have better blocking, we should try to revive it.
Also since Rumi goes into heat, does that mean Sejagma went through rut? Or is he a special case and are heats and ruts just a thing regular demons go through?
I am so glad you asked this. I don't know that I'll have a good opportunity to explain how this stuff works for demons in the fic, but at least I can talk now!
Okay, first of all, I just want to address that I am well aware that in the animal kingdom, it's not possible for an animal to have both a heat and a period. I know I got some comments about it and I appreciate them, but I knew that when I wrote it and I wrote it anyway because I will always use the excuse of magic to make Rumi a freak of nature and a total scientific anomaly. Cool? Cool.
As for Rumi's opinion on them, she much prefers her period. Yes it hurts and is uncomfortable in a multitude of ways, but she can tolerate it. As for her heat, it's really not like what you'd see in omegaverse or even in the wild. Rumi has plenty of self-control during it, she's not going to get weird in front of people, she's not going to beg for - ahem - attention, and she doesn't get all lost in the fog or whatever, but she's absolutely miserable. Really, all of her senses are dialed up so high and she's so bloody warm that she'd rather not be touched very much at all - even totally sfw and platonic touches - especially the first couple of days. She doesn't really go out during that time because the smells and sounds are so overstimulating, and also she's sweating a repulsive amount, which she'd rather not have seen by everyone. I'll get into more detail about her experience with it later in the fic, but yeah it's mostly just a week of total misery for her that she despises.
As for the full demons, this is where my brain went haywire and made up a bunch of things that I don't think I'll be able to include in the fic without Sejagma there to explain, oops. So, in my au, demons don't really mate for babies (it can happen, but it's rare, as most demons are too sickly from the harsh conditions in the Underworld to be fertile. This may or may not be part of why two certain someones were less careful than they should have been and accidentally made a half-demon). Male demons don't have rut, but female demons go through heat all around the same time in the spring, and it's purely a dominance thing.
Sejie never had to worry about it, since his seat as basically the prince of Hell isn't exactly a spot that could be challenged, but even the highest ranking demons below him would have to compete to keep their status. And really, Gwi-Ma and Sejagma are two of very few males in such high positions of power.
Females in heat tend to get incredibly aggressive and will force suitable males into submission during that time. Demon 'mating' is a show of dominance by whoever calls the shots on it, which is very often the females. By the end of spring, the highest ranking demons below Sejagma are typically the most dominant females that gained the most males below them, quite literally. Some males do get the upper hand on a willing female (willing being the key word because a cocky male will easily and very quickly die trying to pull rank over an unreceptive female) and gain status, purely by showing dominance over one female during such a time. Very prestigious and difficult to do.
All in all, it's not a very nice time for any demon, really. It's not for pleasure or to make more demons, it's a competition. Those who pull higher ranks are treated slightly better than lower demons and get a little bit more control over what they do. Not every demon likes stealing souls, so to pull rank means they might not have to. For example, jeosung saja are typically higher performing males (take that as you will), and so they get the cushier job escorting between the living world and the afterlife. That sort of thing.
Thank you for the questions and for reading! I'm really happy I got to talk about this lol
That begs the question: does Rumi have a rank in the demon realm she's not aware of, or does the whole being raised in the human world kinda negate that?
ohhh man. apparently when you copy+paste stuff directly from claude into ao3 it includes code. which anyone can find. people have found it in big, popular fics in multiple fandoms 😬. also heated rivalry; some of which the authors fervently denied using AI. link to thread.
link to their complete findings for those without twitter
I think it would be really funny if @/Rujinutruther was Sussie, who got his hands on a phone (and subsequent twitter account) and was just trolling polytrix, but took it a little too far
Mira's a mermaid, Rumi's half siren, half abyssal leviathan, and Zoey is half selkie who was raised on land and doesn't know she's half selkie.
This fic would be Zoey centric.
World building first
Selkies, mermaids, sirens, and leviathans is they are all different flavors of the same magical creature (and can bread with each other), but there are some differences. And yeah, most of them eat people. (people aren't the only thing they eat though)
Rest under the cut for mentions of vore, and oviposition.
Yeah if this becomes a fic its going to have a lot of "authors not at all disguised kinks"
Mermaids lure sailors to their deaths by being extremely pretty and alluring. Now they are typically more passive in the killing them regard. Usually waiting for them to drown or get bashed against the rocks. Some times mermaids will use water magic to get this done quicker. But the sailors usually die thinking it's their fault. Then the mermaids eat them.
Sirens lure sailors with their voices, and as a consequence, look more monstrous. They are also a fair bit more violent. They either drag the sailors under and wait for them to drown, or they just rip the sailor apart while they're alive like a fucking humboldt squid. Some times, if the siren is kind, they'll continue singing, leaving the sailor in a hypnosis like state where they don't even know they're dying.
Leviathans are the rarest. But they don't usually use much magic during hunting. They'll typically just grab a boat and drag it under. However, if a sailor locks eyes with one, the'll get that call of the void feeling, and might end up throwing them selves over board. This is not the preferred method of hunting though, and usually happens by accident. If a boat is too large, they'll summon a storm to capsize it. They are said to have some cannibalistic tendencies, so others often fear them. It's a misunderstanding of what's actually happening. Leviathans spend most of their time in the midnight and abyssal zones of the ocean, and there's not a lot of food down there. When a leviathan vores another, it's like a loan of energy. When the leviathan reforms, they are considerably smaller, and in exchange for allowing themselves to be vored, the one that vored them has to protect them until they grow to a large enough size again
Selikes are the odd one out. They don't really lure people, or drown them, or even eat them most of the time, for one simple reason: some selkies, were once humans who drowned themselves at sea. Selkies are however, extremely vindictive. If you slight one (usually by taking it's skin and forcing it to marry you), you'll likely have extreme misfortune for the rest of your life until you inevitably die a horrible death. Said death is often at sea, where other selkies, mermaids, sirens, or leviathans will eat the corps.
Now all these creatures have some level of shape shifting powers
Mermaids can take the form of a human for a limited time.
Sirens can take the form of a human for a limited time
Leviathans can shift in to a smaller version of themselves for a limited time. They can not take the form of a human.
Selkies have their seal form, a human like form with seal aspects (their skin is still partly attached to them), and a fully human form. And they can take both partial, and human forms for as long as they want.
Now all these creatures, with the exception of selkies, can not have kids with humans, due to incompatable anatomy. Mermaids, sirens, leviathans, and selkies in their seal and partial form, have an ovipositer plus vagina. Now, it's sheathed most of the time, and that lead to the beleif that these creaturs are always women, because sailors didn't see a dick or balls.
Selkies can only have kids with humans if they are in their fully human form. But they can still have kids with sirens, mermaids and leviathans, it's just more dificult.
On to the story
So before Zoey was born, her mother was being heavily pressured to find a husband and get married. One day, she stumbled across a colony of selkies having a naked beach party. And instead of ignoring it and continuing to date the normal way, she steels a selkie's skin, and forces him to marry her and eventual give her kids of which they have several. (Yeah Zoey's mom is not a good person).
If you know selkie myths, you can probably guess where this is going.
Now Zoey, and the rest of her siblings, loved the water, and the sea. But Zoey by far loved them the most. And she also loved her father.
Her father, despite the circumstances, loved his children too, but not as much as he wanted to return to the sea.
Her father's skin was kept in a hidden safe that only the mom had the code too. Now Zoey (I'm thinking she's about 10 rn), little autistic girl that she is, developed a lock picking hyperfixation. She was going around the house looking for stuff to test her skills on, found the safe, and successfully opened it. Her mom wasn't home at the time, so she went to show her dad what she found.
Her dad took the skin, said he needed to go out for a bit, and then left. It was taking every thing in his power not to yank the skin out of her hand, and bolt out the door.
Zoey's mom came home, saw the lock picking stuff, the open safe, and the lack of the dad. And thought the dad was the one who opened the safe and ran away. She tells her kids that their father just got up and left. Zoey was the only one who knew the truth.
With no husband, she decides to move back to korea. And that night, her ex-husband comes to her in a dream, and tells her to tell the kids the truth about their relationship, and to tell them they have a choice and can join him for a life under the sea if they want to and tells her how they can do that. And that she has a week to do this.
The mom doesn't listen. The father comes back in his partial form, and curses the mom so that she has to watch her entire family suffer horrible deaths, before finally being killed by the child that chooses the sea. The kids don't know this. And in an effort to prevent the curse from happening, she lives as far away from the sea as she can, and also tries to curb Zoey's interests away from the ocean.
It doesn't work, and in the process, drives Zoey away from her mom.
All her life, Zoey's had these intrusive thoughts about drowning herself. Not in a suicidal way, more like a call of the void kinda way. And they only got stronger and more frequent after the whole curse thing (but she doesn't know about that yet). She's also kinda repressed the finding her fathers skin memory, and thinks he just left.
When the story starts, she's a marine biology student (much to the dismay of her mother) working on her PhD, and doing field work. Because she loves the ocean, she always goes for walks on the beach at night. And one night, she hears singing. It's probably the most beautiful voice she's ever heard so she goes to investigate it.
It's coming from the water. Now it's night, and it'a not like Korea's oceans are warm, but cold water has never really bothered her, so she decides to swim out to it.
She still can't find the source, but then something grabs her leg and pulls her under. She struggles, kicks it in the face, and it lets go.
Now this shouldn't have happened. Rumi was still singing, and that put's humans under a hypnosis like effect. So Rumi tells Mira to shift in to human form and see if her beauty works on Zoey.
Mira surfaces, and while Zoey does think she's hot, she doesn't react in the way a human would to seeing a mermaid. This piques Rumira's curiosity. They talk for a bit, and Zoey leaves. And she wakes up the next day thinking it was all a weird dream. Until she hears singing again when she goes for a walk on the beach that night.
They get to know each other, and eventually Rumi and Mira reveal their inhuman forms, admit that they low key tried to eat her, but she didn't react how humans normally do, so they let her go.
Eventually, they have sex, Zoey lets Rumira deposits their eggs in her, as none of them think they'd be able to get fertilized.
Some time later, pregnancy symptoms start showing, Zoey takes a test and it's positive.
They are able to terminate the pregnancy btw, this isn't going to be a baby fic.
But like Rumira had their suspicions that there was something different about Zoey. And well, this confirms that Zoey was never fully human. And she has to come to terms with that.
Also she will eventually have to chose a whether to live on land or in the sea. It's something all half selkies go through if they find out.
Although, I think subconsciously, Zoey already has chosen the sea. She's has since she was young. Like she was devastated when she found out they weren't going to live with in walking distance of the ocean. She just doesn't want to admit it to herself, as she doesn't want to have to chose a side, and also because her girlfriends eat people.
Though I think Rumira can kinda tell the choice Zoey has made. Like when Zoey finds out what her mother did to her father, she straight up wants her dead. And it scares Zoey how easily she can turn on her family like that, but to Mira and Rumi, that's a pretty standard selkie response.
There's also the fact that Zoey's not as pissed about the whole eating people thing as she should be. Like yeah, it's off putting to her, but like she thinks she's more okay to her cause "they're just doing what's natural to them." The typical human response would be to go to spread the word and genocide the entire species.
She also actively encourages them to do their whole "eating people thing" when she sees sailors dump a fin-less shark over board. (Remember what I said about selkies being vindictive as hell)
To them Zoey seems like she's already mentally a selkie.

Though now I imagine Zoey trying to introduce them to D&D and a few of the dice suspiciously go missing (probably the percentile dice cause they so rarely get used)
my fav relationship ship dynamic is where it doesn't matter if you call it platonic or romantic or queerplatonic because they always act the same in every type of relationship. and the way they act? fucking weird.
Random thought I had, I’m a shipper of Polytrix and Rumi x Jinu, and what I usually do to explain why I shop two ships I ship I say “character A has two hands.” But like, this is four characters— and Rumi is character A in this case. So here are the random ideas I had with Jinu.
1: He holds onto Rumi’s braid— idk man I feel like it would work.
2: sense Jinu is in Rumi’s sword…. Rumi pulls a Zoro One Piece and holds her sword in her mouth. Number 2 is my favorite because of how silly it sounds. (Because like it’s just: “hold up chat let me put my sword, aka my dead boyfriend in my mouth because I need to hold my two girlfriends hands.”)
