Hi there, I'm Emily and I have downloaded about 18 billion study related apps. Every time I see a master post about study apps, I download at least half of them. I know you do that too, don't deny it. I am here for you. I am here to share with you the apps that actually work for me, instead of just taking up my storage. Here you go:
MathPapa: MathPapa is the app you need if you are poor and really need help with math. I don’t know about ya’ll, but I would always use Mathway. Of course, you have to pay a butt ton for all of the answers and explanations on Mathway. Insert MathPapa. Mathpapa is free, solves every math problem, and gives a full explanation on how to solve the problem. Boom.
Khan Academy: Oh my G O S H. Tell me W H Y nobody told me about this holy grail app. Because this app is so perfect. Any subject that you are struggling with? This app will help you learn it. I am horrible at math, I have had to take so many tutoring sessions, summer worth of tutoring, I almost failed Algebra I, had to skip Algebra II and take an easier math course, and then this app came along. I am retaking Algebra I and then taking Algebra II, and with this app, I think I will be able to pass it. Don’t think that this app is only for math though, because it has lessons for almost every class including Arts and Humanities, Economics and Finance, Test Prep, many different types of science and so much more. Seriously, check it out.
Notebloc: This app is especially useful if you miss a day of school, or if you are going somewhere and don’t feel like dragging your backpack with you (even though you need to study). You take a picture of your notes and it detects where the page is and scans it into your phone. The reason this is better than just taking a photo of notes? It brightens the image and sharpens the words to make it really easy to read. That way if you miss a day of school, your friend can send you a picture of the notes they took and you can scan them in and they will be easy to read and copy into your own journal.
Tide: Oh, helloooo concentration. I hardly knew thee. UNTIL NOW. This app is for any of you who need that background noise (like I do). This app sets up a timer (you can customize the time, but the default is 25 minutes) and plays your choice of sound. I love the sounds of a busy cafe, and they have that. The sounds also include a forest, the ocean, rain, and soothing piano. When the timer runs out, it’s time to take a break! then you can move on to your next subject with a new sound, or the same one if you want! Plus, it can play in the background so you can exit this app and it will keep playing.
Forest: As a tree hugger and phone lover myself, this app is the best for me. Basically, you open the app and plant a tree. As you study the tree grows. But do N O T EXIT THE APP. As a way to keep you off of your phone while you study, if you close the app to try to play on your phone, YOUR TREES DIE. It works really well at keeping me from playing on my phone because of the risk of heartbreak if I do.
Blue Light Filter- Night Mode, Eye Care: Anybody who studies can tell you it starts the night before. If you don’t get a good nights sleep you won’t want to be up studying all day. You’ll be grumpy and irritated and stressed and more likely to have a meltdown if your studies get too difficult. Most people know that blue light is bad for your eyes, and it can keep you awake. If you have an iPhone, you can just turn on night mode and it will filter blue light. But if you have an android like me, you’ll need to download an app for that. This app allows you to set a time that you would like it to start filtering the light (I chose 9:00 pm) and when you would like it to stop (I chose 7:00 am).
Shake-it Alarm: This is also a sleep-related app, but this one helps you wake up in the morning. It’s like a normal alarm, you can set up a time you want it to wake you up, and as many different alarms you want. You can choose your alarm sound from their selection, or from your own music. I would recommend something calming. You can adjust the volume of the alarm, I would suggest loud. Then when the alarm goes off you can choose how you turn it off, and how difficult it is to turn it off. Either you shake your phone, shout at your phone, or touch your phone. Or you can hit random and let it decide. I have mine set for shake and the difficulty is normal. It takes me about 20 seconds of shaking my phone to actually get it to shut up. By then I’m awake enough to just stay awake.
Duolingo: I mean this one is pretty self-explanatory, right? Everyone knows about this app, and for good reason. It is a great app that can help you learn the basics of almost any language you are trying to learn.
Tinycards: Tinycards is an app that goes along with Duolingo. You just sign into your duolingo account on this app and it will give you flashcards so you can study what you’ve learned.
HiNative: I don’t hear nearly enough people talking about HiNative. This app allows you to select what language/s you speak, then the language/s that you want to learn, and then you will get to speak with people whose native language is the one/s that you are trying to learn! You will also be able to help people who are trying to learn your native language!!
Drops: Drops is a colorful app that helps you learn the language that you want to learn one little step at a time. You start with simple topics like food and drink and then move on to the basics of conversation.
Memrise: Honestly, Memrise is so cute. It really helps you learn whatever language you’re learning, but in a fun space exploration themed way!
