How to balance between social media and studying
On a scale of 1 to 10, how hard is it for you to keep away from social media? Do you find yourself checking your social media feed every 10-15 minutes? Being hooked to social media can be a real problem, especially if it is getting in the way of your daily routine or affecting your mental health. Here are a few tips to limit your social media usage to and balance your day:
Out of sight, out of mind
Make sure your social media apps don’t appear on your home screen. Most of us tend to check our news feed without even realizing we are doing it. By removing home screen shortcuts, you’d discourage yourself from constantly checking in.
Try indulging in activities that require you to stay away from your phone. Take part in sports, pursue a hobby, or exercise. The idea is to find yourself something to do that is engaging, fun, and healthy.
Manage your screentime with an app
Download an app to manage how much screen time you get access to in the day. These apps usually show you how often you went on to social media and for how long you were on it. When you face these numbers you’ll see for yourself how much time you could have spent productively instead of scrolling through social media. An effective reality check!
Mute your social media notifications
Without pings from your social media apps, you are less likely to open them. Moreover, if you are using your device to learn online, muting your notifications will prevent you from switching apps and continue learning.
Make sure to meet your friends and loved ones in person and keep in touch. This will enable you to build stronger relationships and reduce your dependency on social media.
We hope these tips will help you control the time you spend on your phone and allow you to balance your time between studying and other productive activities.
