Dear MagISoWo,
I keep a Great Pyrenees as a guardian for my sheep (mostly against coyotes), and I’m a bit worried because a werewolf family just moved in a couple properties over. Our land backs up against some wooded parkland, and it seems likely that the new couple would take their kids there to run around. It’s Caleb’s _job_ to watch for canids in the woods, warn them off, and attack them if they don’t leave fast enough, so this seems really risky - but I can’t keep him in without exposing my flock. I feel like I should have a talk with them about how to handle things, but I don’t have any personal experience with the were community so I’m not sure how to do it without sounding like I’m accusing them of trespassing, or like I think they’re going to get into a territory spat with my dog. Any advice would be appreciated! Best, Dithering Dog-owner
Dear Dithering Dog-owner,
These are all perfectly reasonable concerns and as such, we can assure you that they will have crossed your new neighbours’ minds as well. We assume you have spoken to them already, as you are aware of them being werewolves, so you should not feel hesitant to bring this up next time you meet with them. Simply asking them if their children will be okay playing around your dog will be enough to open up the conversation.
And it is definitely best to talk about it, because every family’s circumstances - werewolf or not - are different. The children, depending on their age and the strength of their blood, might not even transform yet.
Please prepare yourself for the possibility that the family might ask to have a canine-to-canine introduction, so they can meet and form an understanding with your dog on animal terms. Intelligent dogs such as your Pyrenees often get along famously with werewolves once they’ve gotten used to them.
If you feel like you need more information on the community, we recommend checking out the Lunar Foundation, but going in with an open mind and a friendly offer is all you really need.
Best of luck!

A sprouted acorn, the shell of an abandoned wasp's nest, and a jagged white stone that sparkles where it has cracked.
The sequel will happen, and it will be everything you hoped for. A field guide will be made, with more details than you had thought to want.
