Aussie Boy (librarian!Chan × fem!Reader)
↠Genre: library!au ; fluff, humour
↠Word count: 1.81k
↠Requested: no
↠Warnings: none
↠A/N: A quick scenario, it's not that special, but I was in the mood for writing. Also librarian Chan would be so cute! I'm still struggling to learn to write gender neutral scenarios, so I'm sorry this is with fem!reader~
Chan was arranging the books on the shelf, gracefully brushing his fingers across the several titles. 'I should take one home, I haven't read in a while,' he thought, moving on to the next shelf.
Working in a quiet place like a library felt like a piece of heaven. He never got tired of seeing books and their variety, while music was softly playing through his earphones. He hasn't encountered any inconvenience so far, and he was delighted to do something useful in his life.
Even if it only was arranging books and guiding new customers to their requested section, or ocasionally asking people to be more quiet, pointing to the ones who were studying in the chairs specially displayed for them.
However, today Chan woke up feeling completely bored. He even struggled to get out of bed, as if he's been glued to the mattress while sleeping, even though the boy could easily rise and open the curtains before his alarm ringed. Today, the only thing he did was drag his feet wherever he went, praying for the night to come by faster so that he would go back to sleep.
"Hi, Chan, doing good?" the manager chirped. It was a normal thing for him to walk through the aisles to check if everything was fine, so the raven haired didn't even flinch when his voice echoed through the library.
"Would you mind if you talked in a lower voice?" Chan asked jokingly, pointing at the empty chairs in the study corner. They both chuckled and the manager ruffled the boy's hair, greeting the other workers on the next aisle. Chan shook his head, turning back towards the books in the science fiction aisle.
Connecting his earphones to his phone, he let the music slip into his ears as it embraced him into a warm athmosphere. That was it, the mood for working. He felt the tips of his fingers tap the covers of the books in sync with the beat, slowly moving the books to their spot in the shelves.
His phone buzzed in his pocket, making him drop the books on the nearest shelf to fish it out. The boy squinted his eyes at the bright screen, adjusting the brightness afterwards and reading the messages.

j.squirrel: yo
j.squirrel: let's hang out
j.squirrel: after chan's shift is over
britneyspearb: jisung tf i almost dropped my phone
britneyspearb: stop spamming
changaroo: hey kids, no fighting
changaroo: and sure, why not
That was a big lie, the boy wanted to get home as quick as possible and melt in the warmth of his bed, and spending time with Jisung and Changbin would drain all his already non-existent energy.
j.squirrel: we're not fighting, hyung!!
britneyspearb: is the coffee shop near sopa good?
j.squirrel: yeah
j.squirrel: wait
j.squirrel: why sopa? ;)
britneyspearb: oh shut up
changaroo: hyunjin should be in the dance practice room by the time we go out, stop nagging jisung
changaroo: there's no benefit for bin
changaroo: ttyl
Chan changed the song, then locked the phone and put it back in his pocket. He picked up another book and lazily dragged his feet along the aisle while searching for the right shelf, almost tripping in the process. He shouldn't have accepted their offer, he thought as he rubbed his eyes to get rid of the fatigue.
Soon, students started flooding the library, with the bags on their backs. It was lunch time for most of them, but it was exam season so the student corner was easily filled with kids flipping pages from their textbooks. Chan smiled, the eagerness of their study process reminding him of the times he used to study at late times in the night.
Being a student was hard, he had to admit it. But now, seeing how time flew so fast, he missed those times when he wanted to throw all his books out of his window. He would give everything he had to go back to his highschool years. Maturity was something little Chris always looked forward to, but now that he was experiencing it, he regretted ever having that idea in his mind.
He was exhausted, and he never realised how easy his school life was until adulthood embraced him with his various problems. The boy, even though a music enthusiast, had to partially give up from his hobby in order to keep his small flat going peacefully, with all the bills he had to pay and all the times he had to fix the tap.
Hearing students complain about how much work they have to do became amusing for Chan. Those times were only beautiful memories, stained in sweat from the hard work. But now the boy had to work even harder in order to win against adulthood's problems.
He was too absorbed in the loud music playing in his earphones to notice the small chit-chat at a table. Two girls were giggling, until one of them abruptly closed all the books and silenced the athmosphere. "Let's stop here," she suggested with a small smile, glancing at the clock on the wall. "We'll study later, is that alright?"
The other one nodded, throwing her books back in her bag. She then felt a light tap on the shoulder from the girl across from her, turning to see a smirk planted on her face.
"Do you think I forgot you had to do my dare, Y/N?" she asked, noticing the rosy cheeks of the student turning pale.
"Fine, Yejin, but if I get in trouble, it's your fault," she spat, but then cowered when she was about to do it. "They'll think I'm crazy." Y/N mumbled, facing the ground while her shoes lightly tapped the floor. Her friend noticed the nervous habit and patter her back.
"Come on, princess, you won't have anything to lose!" Yejin assured, stepping back to watch the girl.
Chan jumped upon hearing something louder than his music, and with a swift movement he threw his earphones out of his ears. "What the hell-"
But then he shut up, his eyes lighting up upon hearing what woke him up from his thoughts. "Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!"
'Manager Nam is going to kill me,' he thought, glancing in the direction of the girl in a school uniform. She was visibly embarassed, with all the eyes pointed at her, but instead of shutting her up, Chan opened his mouth and continued her chant.
Their eyes met, Y/N's eyes twinkling before they both burst into laughter. "Aussie girl?" he asked, his English flowing from his mouth naturally in his raspy voice.
"Yes, Aussie boy." she chirped, still panting from laughing so hard.
"Bang Chan!" echoed through the whole library, the boy freezing in his spot. He didn't even need to turn to see the fuming face of his manager, and hesitated to even blink from the shock. Chan eyed the girl and muttered a 'Pray for me', earning a nod from her, before turning on his heels to face the angry man.
Everyone was watching the event lile they were in a movie theatre. For once in his life, Chan didn't want to be in the spotlights; at least not in circumstances like these.
"Manager Nam~" he began slowly, flashing his dimply smile in hopes of calming the red face in front of him.
"What was that about?" the man asked, his voice low and scary. Chan gulped and hissed, looking left and right before choking out an answer.
"Look, manager, I-" he stuttered, lowering his eyes until they darted his feet. "I miss home. And I wasn't even thinking straight when I heard the call."
The sincerity in his voice made the manager's face soften a bit. Only his voice remained stern when he spat "You're lucky you're a good employee, Chan."
"And you?" he pointed his index at Y/N, who instantly began fiddling with her fingers. "Don't you know the rules of every library in this world?"
"It was my fault," Yejin chimed in. "I dared her to do it. I'm very sorry!" she bowed in front of both Chan and the manager.
The man only scoffed and left the youngsters, the three feeling their limbs relax after the tall figure disappeared behind the shelves. Chan exhaled in relief, wiping his forehead and immediately thought of the last time he had been scolded.
It was because he dropped an entire pile of books on the manager's foot, and he didn't feel that embarassed in his whole life. But for him, it felt like this scolding was even harsher than that time, even though no one had to be bandaged.
"I owe you," Y/N breathed out, glancing at Chan who eyed her curiously. "I almost got you fired."
"It's fine, it's fine," he assured, the corner of his lips raising and flashing his dimples. But then an idea striked his mind, like a light bulb turned on above his head. "But you two can join me and my other friends!"
"Really?" the girl in front of him beamed, then turned to Yejin.
"Oh, I'd love to, but I have stuff to do. I'll j-just," she stammered, turning afterwards towards Y/N to wink at her. "I'll just leave you two Aussies spend some time together."
She grabbed her bag, leaning into Y/N's ear to whisper "And maybe have some fun" and left before the girl could hit her arm.
"Ignore her, she's a total weirdo when I'm around guys," she mumbled, the Aussie accent in her voice warming Chan's insides.
"It's alright, you'll meet mine later. Those are the literal definition of embarassing."
The boy went back to the pile of books which needed to be arranged, pressing his lips into a thin line at the laziness he felt.
"Want me to help you?" Y/N offered, already grabbing some books and leaving Chan with no choice. He only chuckled at her friendliness and turned to grab some more.
"How did you end up here?" he asked, eyes not shifting from the top shelves. Y/N sat beside him and handed him the books one by one.
"My parents divorced," she simply stated, shrugging her shoulders.
"Oh, sorry," Chan squeezed his eyes shut, feeling guilty for asking. "I moved here because of some family business. I felt so lost in a world full of strangers."
"So did I, but at least I'm lucky now to meet another Aussie kid. Dude, I haven't talked English in forever!" Y/N gushed, both of them giggling at her excitement.
"My shift is over in about ten minutes," stated Chan, taking his phone out to text his friends.
changaroo: i'm bringing a girl
changaroo: you better not embarass her
changaroo: or else i'm never feeding you again in my life
changaroo: i'll let you starve
j.squirrel: A GIRL?
britneyspearb: our leader bang chan grew some balls and decided to bring a girl?
j.squirrel: IS SHE PRETTY?
changaroo: oh my god
changaroo: keep in mind that i won't pay for your food if you do anything wrong
changaroo: we're leaving now
britneyspearb: everyone here is so lucky and then there's me
j.squirrel: hyung stop being so emo
"Like I said." Chan chuckled, showing Y/N the screen of his phone.
"Crackheads." they muttered in unison and burst into laughter.
- the part where there's loud music and everyone's talking too loud -
(Ch1) (Ch2)
"You sure about this?" You would've thought this would be asked by me but it was Felix, he's never really been the type to come to big parties but neither was I. He shoved his hands in his jeans as I told him "we're gonna go in there and we are gonna have the best night of our lives and if we don't we can vow never to do this again, right?" He looked into my eyes sternly and nodded once "right!"
And in that moment we had arrived. As we walked through the open door surrounded by other drunk teens I could feel the bass pumping throughout my body. The music was loud, the smell of alcohol was sour through the air, it was anxiety inducing. We had prepared for this though, our plan was to drink until emotions didn't really matter that much.
We followed the path of the halls and lo and behold we found the kitchen. The counters were strewn with opened liquor bottles, by the door sat a keg. I had to admit, Minho was prepared. Felix reached out for the vodka, I thought we would've started slow with a couple of beers but I guess we were going in strong. He filled two shitty red plastic cups with a mix of coke and vodka, I took a sip of the one he handed me and I practically gagged, it was so strong "Lix, what the fuck?" I coughed so hard, it was obvious that I barely drank, my cheeks were flushed with red. His response was short "sorry, I just-" he was cut off by a sudden cheering, what the fuck was happening "MAKE WAY FOR THE KING" on Minho's head sat a blown up plastic crown, his hand held a stick with a beer can on the end he was carried on the shoulders of two jocks. They placed him down, he tossed the crown and sceptre onto the counter as he swanned toward me "I've not seen you before, you new or something?" I shook my head and took a sip of liquid courage, forgetting how strong it was I coughed again. He waited for me to finish with a hand on my shoulder "no, I'm not new, I grew up here, I'm Jisung" I held my hand out for him to shake and he took it and pulled me in for a bro hug. I didn't even hug him back, I couldn't help but be so awkward but God he smelled good.
Then it was over. Felix came running over to me yanking at my arm like a child "Jisung, bro, please, fuck, Jisung!!" He was erratic and I was confused "what's up?" He pulled me out of the kitchen and down the hall to a room with a huge TV and dim light, this was a room that was made to be made out in. "There's someone here I need you to see" (emphasis on need) he pointed over to this stranger talking to a boy with blonde hair that obviously seemed older, both of them were leaning against the wall laughing about a joke no one else was in on. "Them... Look J, they're perfect."
When we were younger we had a game, both of us would design how our soulmate would look, the stranger across the room from us was everything he had asked for, I just used to make things up, I didn't take it seriously because we were kids and I... I didn't know myself properly. I nod at the couple and I tell him "Lix, I'm sorry man" the music blasting my words away, I speak louder " they look like a couple." I saw it in his eyes, he was disheartened. "I'll still go and talk to them" we both looked over at the two strangers, the blonde guy says something and then the enigmatic stranger nods slowly, they both looked like they had a secret agreement but what was it?
I turned back to talk to Felix to tell him that the futures still open but he just looked at me and fake smiled "I'll be back soon, I'm gonna go and find the bathroom." Not wanting to make this as awkward as I probably would've I nodded "come find me when you're done okay?" He just grinned "I can only go up from here J." Leaving it at that I smiled softly at him walking away.
I wanted to talk to Minho again, I felt like we could probably be pretty good friends. Maybe. Who knows? I was thinking so hard about what I wanted to say to him that I didn't watch where I was going that was until I slammed into 'the perfect stranger'
Jisung’s vocals has my crops thriving, my skin clear, but mostly my tears running
|Hey Princess|
Request: Nope! Fuckboy!Hyunjae 17 Oh bite me and 18 if you insist
Warnings: Suggestive/Angst/Fluff/Cursing
Word count: 1,926
So college is fun
Especially when you have a fuckboy attached to your hip everyday trying to get into your pants
Who’s the fuck boy you may ask? None other than Lee Jae-Hyun
Or as he insists Hyunjae
You had met him during freshman year
Both of you being bright eyed new college students
At first he seemeed pretty nice
He was up beat and energetic. Happy go lucky sort of dude.
That was until he fell into the wrong crowd
They call them self TheBoyz
The guys who sat on the bleachers and watched cheerleaders practice
But even if they were all fuck boys
They had good traits
Like Jacob Bae was one of the sweetest people when he wasn’t with the rest of The Boyz
Anyway back to Hyunjae
You two were Majoring in the same thing so you had to see him in most of your classes throughout the day
You two had ended up sitting together in your English Lit class
And you hit it off right away
You two would stay up all night at times helping each other write papers and going on study dates
He became your best friend
And then the Spring Break of freshman year happened
He met some guys theboyz while you were at a party
The reeled him into their group
They got him incredibly drunk and he suddenly couldn't keep his dick in his pants trying to get with every girl in site
You had found him on the couch with some girl hangin off of him
You asked him if you could go
But he just looked at you
“Why don’t you just leave by yourslef? You don’t need anyone there with you. You’ll be fine.”
You walked out of the party that without a best friend
It wasn't like anything drastic happened really
But after that night he just completely ignored you
Until your second semester of sophomore year (current time)
You two were partnered up with each other for your final project with 60% of your grade
You had texted him telling him to come to your dorm so you could work on the project
He knocked on the door and you let him
He was on his phone and wasn’t paying anykind of attention to you
You tried to get him to help you but he wouldn’t listen to you
“Alright listen if you’re aren’t going to help then why did you even come?”
He looked up at you and then stood up from the chair he was sitting in
“Why do you think?” He looked down towards his pants then back up to you with a suggestive smile
You grabbed a pillow from the couch and threw it at him “You’re disgusting”
“Oh come on you can’t tell me you actually wanted to do this dumb project
“Uh yeah I do. It is kinda of really important”
“Yeah ok whatever let’s get to the fun part”
“Actually no there is no fun part. Now get out of my dorm. I’ll do the project just leave me alone”
When Hyunjae got back to TheBoyz hangout he recounted the story
And a bet was put on the table
200 dollars to make you fall in love with him before the project due date
that was 3 months to make his once best friend who now kind of hates him fall in love with one of the biggest fuckboys in school
But what TheBoyz didn’t know was you had been in love with Hyunjae since freshman year
But your minor in theatre was rather helpful when it came to hiding that
The next day Hyunjae sent you a text asking you to meet him at the library around 4
When you got there he was there with some books and two (2) iced coffee
He turned and flashed a smile at you
That damn smile that made you melt inside
“Hey Princess, I got you an iced macchiato. I remember those were your favorite.”
You stood for a moment confused
Why on Earth would that be something he remembered?
You sat down and actually got some work done
But you knew it was too good to be true so you decided to test the waters
“So how much do you get if you win the bet?”
He looked at you confused
“What do you mean bet? I’m just here to do this pointless project and I brought coffee since I figured we’d be here awhile. Can’t have the smarter of us two falling asleep now can we?”
He reached over and pinched your cheek
Something he used to always do to you
You swooned for a moment before getting it together
You were still suspicious
None of TheBoyz could be trusted
Especially in a situation like this where he changed his tune so quick
But hey he brought coffee so at least you were getting something out of it
Months later you two were seeing each other pretty much every day
Your feelings for him were slowly resurfacing as he was acting like himself before he left you
But it was only when you two were alone
In class or anywhere else he still pretty much ignored you
“Alright Hyunjae. Can you tell me what the hell is going on with you?”
You were sitting in your dorm watching a movie when you asked him
“I don’t know what you’re talking about”
“Don’t know what I’m talking about. You literally just dropped me and our friendship last year. You never said another word to me after that party. I lost my best friend. I lost the person I had fallen in love with. And now you just decide to pop back into my life like nothing happened. So I’ll ask again. What the hell is going on?”
His jaw hung open not quite sure how to respond
“You..you fell in love with me?”
“Is that really the only part of what I just said that you caught onto?”
“No no its not but I just, I had no idea you had felt that way. Look I gotta go i’ll see you later okay?”
He got up and left you in his dorm all by yourself; Confused
Eric one of his roomates walked out of his room after hearing the whole thing.
“So like are you really in love with him? Cause if so I think you should probably go after him. Bring him back here though we gotta talk about something important”
You walked out the front door to Hyunjae standing in the hallway
He seemed upset
“Look I’m sorry if I freaked you out, but Eric sai that you need to come back in to talk about something important”
“He did?”
“Yeahhh”
“Shit”
He walked back into the dorm room you silently following after him
Eric was sitting on the couch counting out some cash
“Hey Hyunjae dude we said 200 dollars right?
You were confused to say the least
“200 dollars for what?”
Eric looked over to you
“Your confession”
“So this was a bet? I knew it, God dammit I should have went with my gut from the very beggining! I can't believe you JaeHyun, I thought maybe just maybe after this project we were going to be friends again or maybe even more but after this? You can go fuck yourself”
And with that you stormed out of his dorm.
You stormed down the hallway to the elevator
You jabbed the button a couple times
You were about to step on when you were grabbed from behind and turned around
Hyunjae had you by the wrist
He turned your palm up and put a wad of cash in it
He closed your hand around it and pushed you the last couple of steps into the elevator
But before it closed you saw the tears that started to roll down his cheeks
You unfolded the money in your hand and counted the bills
200$
Angry and confused you hit the button to open the elevator door but it was to late as it started to go down
When you got to your dorm you texted him and called him but got no response
You sat in bed just staring at the money not to sure why the hell he gave it to you
Was it supposed to be compensation?
To make you feel better for getting your hopes up??
Why the hell was he crying?
You needed to find out
So you did the only thing that came to mind
You took the money and was out the door on your way to get your supplies
You got back to his dorm about half an hour later
Two iced machiatos in hand
Hyunjae opened the door after you knocked
“Look I brought you coffee so now you have to answer my question or else it’s just rude”
He stepped to the side so you could enter
You handed him a coffee and took a sip of yours
The two of you stared at each other silently for a couple seconds before you cleared your throat
“At first I was angry but now I’m just sad and confused, I need to know why you gave me 200$ It really makes no sense to me and why were you crying when I was the one who got played?”
“It should be obvious right? I gave you the money because you won the bet, you made me fall in love with you. Sure this thing started because I wanted the money but spending time with you again made me realize how much I missed you. How much I missed your laugh, your smile, your everything. It also made me realize I never really got over my feelings for you and ignoring you, becoming this “fuckboy” was the worst way to get over someone.”
“You really are dumb aren’t you. Jaehyun I love you for you. The boy that would stay up with me to write papers. The boy that would wait for me everyday at lunch so we could eat together. The boy that still has my favorite coffee memorized even after a year. I fell in love with that boy and he’s still in there, I can see him. I just need to know if yor are going to stop pretending to be something you’re not and just be the boy I fell in love with.”
A big grin grew on his face “So you're saying you’ll give me another chance?”
You rolled your eyes
“Yes but if you screw up one more time then we’re done for good, got it?”
You were going in for the hug when the door burst open and in walked TheBoyz
“So I hear the bet has been settled”
You looked over to see them realizing you were in the room
“Yeah it is settled and if I’m brought into something like this again I will not hesitate to end all of you. And yes that includes you Jacob, Mr I volunteer at the animal shelter on Saturday”
Jacob threw his hands up in surrender “Hey I advised them against it, don't blame me.”
Hyunjae laughed and wrapped you in a big back hug resting his head on your shoulder
“I’m never letting you go again and I will protect you from all the gross boys in this room”
“You are also one of those boys you know?”
“Oh bite me”
“If you insist.”
“Hey uh we’re still here”
“We Know”
“We just don’t care”
Felix, lying on the floor, looking at the sky: Chan!!! I see blue!!
