The USO suit from The First Avenger is unironically one of the best superhero suits ever put to screen and im tired of pretending its not. This suit is damn near perfect but people werent ready for that conversation yet so they played it off as a joke

Y’know something…designing superhero suits is a lot harder than I thought—cause tell me why I’m trying to make this oc who has a blue and black color scheme

I am propably reaching but mutants being left to wear their costumes in the X-men movies could imo be linked to how queerness was seen and treated through the years.

In the first couple movies you got these dark leather "biker gear" looking outfits, basicly saying "sure you can exist, but keep it lowkey, don't express yourself too freely and openly".

Then comes first class and the team gets more color but it's the same outfit for all of them exept for small changes to fit the wearers needs. Kinda a "you can exist, be open but don't make it too complicated to not overwhelm us."

By Apocalypse we see them get more comic accurate suits, with personal touches and unique designs, they're able to be freely themselves and express who they are.

In Dark Phoenix we see a step backwards into the utilitarian muted looks, like queer people had to step back over rising controversies and pushbacks.

Now with Wolverine in 2023 i'd call this the "fuck you, we are here and we WILL show ourselves and be true to ourselves even if it makes you angry and uncomfortable" with accurate suits, bright colors (some might even say too bright) and a fair amount of camp. Whitch works perfectly i think for the current times where queer people are starting to loose rights and the amount of hate (especialy for a specifc part of the comunity) being on the rise.

Again i am propably and most likely reaching, but it makes sense in my head.

Selina: Still, G.I.JOE here seems to have the worst part, Wonder Woman suit is an armor.

Steve: Well yes, but you don’t need to take it off in those cases. You just have to remove her underwear.

Steve: Oh by Diana's Gods what have I done.

Selina: You mean you've done it while she was in full armor??

Lois: Now that’s kinky!

Steve: I will not elaborate on the subject!

Steve: ...

Steve: Still, sucks to be any of you two.

I would honestly like to ask Vought’s wardrobe department what the heck they make their supe suits out of. Their extreme durability during fights that would leave lesser articles of clothing nothing but ribbons or charred ash is pretty wild. I mean, in season 2 Noir’s suit took one of Naqib’s blasts at point-blank range, and it was only partially burned through. Can you imagine if the blast had burned off his entire costume? Like, one second we have Noir all suited up for a showdown, and the next there’s Nathan Mitchell, naked as a newborn baby. And then he just rips Naqib’s head off.

You know people put a lot of blame on the MCU for the way superhero suits look nowadays to the point that people call it "MCUifying" but you know who's really to blame? This ugly motherfucker

I fully place all the blame on Christopher Nolan. People praise this suit all the time but it is 100% the originator of the trend of overdesigning superhero suits with unnecessary details like weird lines and paneling by trying to add realism. It feels ashamed to be a superhero suit so much that they made the bat symbol practically invisible by making it as small as possible and making it match the color as the huge black rectangle on his chest
