They really adapted this scene so well, but they obviously took creative liberties and added details and they really worked here to tug on my heart strings as much as, if not more than, when I first read this chapter.
Yuru taking deep breaths to stop his tears?? Asa starting to cry when she realizes Yuru was about to cry too??? The voice acting???? The directing????? Forget the chef, I'm kissing the entire kitchen crew on the mouth💕
So you're homeless and caring for someone else's child. Sounds rough. This is your problem, too. As a Higashi Village tsugai retainer you'll be helping me. I mean, I'll do what I can.
Thoughts on 黄泉のツガイ | Yomi no Tsugai | Daemons of the Shadow Realm, Episode 5: Hare and Tortoise (ASUMA TIMEEEEEE XD)
I dislike Akio as a character but I still love his design and his seiyu does a great job.
I love Left so much. She's hilarious. Her competition with Torty was always funny. Also Haruo, beloved :3
I always loved Right recognizing his limitations and, rather than assuming he needs to train more, asking if Yuru can deal with Bunbun aldkjaldja
I know folks have the shippy glasses when it comes to Gabby and Asa, and I'm not saying stop, certainly I remember going "omg there was only one bed!!!" the first time I read this in the manga, but also, they share a bed because Gabby is Asa's bodyguard lol That is the canonical reason. Now... maybe there's more to it. But that is the reason lol
I always wondered why Natsuki takes a picture of Gonzo in the onsen. It's not explained in the manga, we just see a panel of her taking the picture. That she's potentially doing it just because it's funny to see Gonzo floating mid-air is great XD It's a gag that's used later when Gonzo is fighting I think Hayato's underlings and we see him "shadow boxing" from the perspective of a guard who can't see daemons, so it makes sense that's what Natsuki's doing here.
I think the depiction of Gonzo's main daemons, Hyakki Yako - the Monster Parade - is interesting...? I'm not precisely into the 3Dness. But it's fine!
Folks who like this series should try Natsume's Book of Friends, which also deals with pairing up with yokai (I mean the "daemons" aren't precisely yokai, but they're similar). It also focuses on family, clans, and digging up old history. And it's far less complex. The manga and anime are quite good.
NOTHING ELSE MATTERS BECAUSE ASUMA IS HERE!!!!!
BEBE!!!! BELOVED!!! HE!!!!! (With Asagiri and Yozakara maybe floating around, kind of?) ^^ Closest we get to animated (Japanese) Sung Hyunje (even though he's too small). MOTHMAN IS REAL!!!
His seiyu (Ishida Akira) sounds great XD I love how he says Jin's name :3 Akira's done a fuckton of roles over the years and a lot of them make sense for Asuma (e.g., Kaworu, Fisheye, Fyodor, Natori).
I am not prepared for when we get Ivan presumably next ep. Not prepared.
Aaand the brocon arrives XD ASA WANT HUG!!!!
Putting Akio out on kekkai duty surely won't have any repercussions, will it :D
It's fun to remember Jin's face is just like that. Hikaru's face looks like that without his glasses. Also this is likely part of the scheme to deal with Hayato: making it seem like there's friction between Jin and Asuma, or Asuma and everyone else.
Gonna have to get used to Dr. Sakurazawa with purple hair aldjlaj I'm pretty sure I've seen it before but I'm so used to seeing the series in black and white and nothing else... It's not bad! Just bright.
Isn't the guard suspicious indeed, Yuru. Definitely no suspicious guards on the property. Still.
One day we'll learn more about what happened to Mine and Nagisa. One day. And who their guard was. And why, if they were kidnapped, they were never ransomed, or used as blackmail to get the Kagemoris to give up Asa. I imagine this is why the Kagemoris know Yuru and Asa's grandmother's number and she's not just a fake. Maybe. But we'll see! Someday! I wonder if Mine and Nagisa found something about whoever cast the seal on Nishino Village? Maybe, if Minase isn't the one who did it, that person wanted replacement parents or something, and so wanted to steal the parents of the current special twins cause... that's sort of similar?
Also this moment is a bit different (ish) in the anime (and not just because it was mirrored, which happens a lot in anime adaptations for whatever reason):
It's one of those, "Oh, that's what they were going for" in the manga things where the anime kind of just develops a scene a bit more. I thought Jin was just standing in front, but the anime makes it clear he leapt in front of Yuru and Asa to protect them. I love that.
The fighting and movement, as expected for Bones, is quite good (and Haruo riding Bunbun's back is always the best alkdjlajda). The whole episode was wonderful :3 Looking forward to more of Gabby and the rest (and Ivan!!!) in Episode 6: The Kagemori Clan and the Unknown Assailants!
