Dozens of protesters wearing Man Up t-shirts have met the start of the Wellington Pride parade, performing a haka.
Or attempted to disrupt while police shunted them away, most people didn’t notice them, the parade continued regardless and it sounds like everyone there for the right reasons had a nice time.

logging back in after a few months offline because i forgot to let y’all know that i’m ditching tumblr for a bit. life sucks, i got made redundant, so i’m having to focus my energy on being a broke, neurodivergent, queer, indigenous wahine trying to survive in an expensive city while also being a student. unfortunately my real life circumstances means i have to prioritise survival over fandom.
i’ll be back when life is less shit, so i’ll see my fandom moots when i return.

If y'all wanna see how diversity and inclusion in gender and sexuality can be shown through a Maori lens, this is a great example! My whanau is in this group and they're absolutely wonderful :) have a haka about homophobia as well that I'll post eventually
hi! i saw there was a lack of a māori takatāpui flag and i wanted to try to make one to fix that!
i wanted to include the diversity of gender and sexuality under the flag so i tried to incorporate the rainbow and the trans flag's colours with the māori flag's colours + koru to blend them to signify how none of these things can be separated from each-other in life's path. i wanted to try to get the opinion of other māori (especially takatāpui māori) on this flag as i'm just one person and i would like to hear from people who may want to use this flag in the future. i appreciate any feedback! either way, reblogs are appreciated!
the flag is made with icons in mind and can be cropped into a square while still showing the entire design. if people are interested, i can post a full quality square version of this flag.
thank you for reading, arohanui!
When the Europeans arrived in Aotearoa New Zealand, as well as guns, stoats and Christianity, they brought ideas of cisgender monogamous heterosexuality that were imposed upon the Māori people as if there had never been anything else. But one word, takatāpui, proved otherwise.
