As for my favorite anime, hmmmm… I’d have to say A Sign of Affection!! It’s about a girl named Yuki Itose, who is deaf, who meets a guy named Itsuomi Nagi, who is learning sign language! I love it so much not just for the story, but also the formatting. The thought put behind making sure the readers understand which lines are said in sign language and which ones are spoken reminds me of how I make sure that everyone can read each textbox while and that each line of dialogue is conveyed perfectly. I first read the manga, and reading the work put behind it was so fascinating. Plus I also love how they treat Yuki’s deafness as part of her character rather than something just to move the plot along.
