Introverted Intuition (Ni) / Extroverted Sensing (Se)
Elphaba takes and runs with new ideas once she conceptualizes them as possible -- her solo is all about her future with the Wizard, how they will do great things together, then he will see how her external appearance should reflect her internal state of goodness and change it so she no longer has green skin. She senses there is more than meets the eye to the movements against the talking animals in Oz. In her eagerness to please the Wizard, she fails to stop and consider her actions -- she turns the monkeys into a flying army, then quickly realizes the Wizard's true intentions for them. Under stress, she can be impulsive and reactive with low-order Se, worsening situations rather than resolving them. She rescues the lion cub without a plan as to what to do with it, or where to release it; she reacts quickly to save Boq, using magic she’s unprepared with and has not mastered, and in the result, creating both the Tin Man and the Scarecrow.

She is a good student and someone who devotes herself to taking action against injustices. She scorns Glinda’s desire for social acceptance, and forges her own path – fearlessly confronting the Wizard about his evil intentions and storming out if necessary. Her Te can be reactive and strong-willed; she takes instant action when she sees an injustice. She runs away from her troubles, and does not mind being seen as the “witch” if it’s for a cause she believes in (Fi). She also blames herself, rather than her father or the flowers, for her sister’s premature birth and her mother’s death. Due to her upbringing (with a father who never cared for her, and excluded her in favor of her “normal” sister), Elphaba heavily identifies with other persecuted, ignored, and abused creatures – namely, the talking animals of Oz. This leads her to form a strong attachment to her professor, and take a personal interest in championing animals’ rights.

Values: daring, nerve, and chivalry.
She alone isn’t afraid to stand up against injustice, and defy the Wizard. She allows her reputation to go down the drain, in order to help liberate Oz. She encourages Glinda to become the witch Oz needs – a liberating force. She reacts in the moment, and is happiest when she’s following her heart (“I feel… wicked!”). She fights for the rights of those unable to champion themselves.

Elphaba has suffered from persecution her entire life, so she adopts that as her identity – expecting others to reject and dislike her. She carries her hurts deeply and finds it difficult to move past them. She can’t let go of the ruby slippers, because of what they represent and how they factored into her loss. She has a strong desire to be authentic and independent, but her social stacking also makes her care what others think (Glinda says of her, “She cares… she just pretends not to”) and she often compares herself to them. Her 5 wing make her scholarly, withdrawn, and focused on her studies – she can be elitist about her accomplishments. Her 6, however, wants others with her -- she reaches out to Glenda whenever she’s feeling out of her depth, and tries to convince her to come with her. She lacks confidence in herself at times. Her 8 is confrontational and aggressive. Her sx stacking forms an instant attachment to certain people, on an intense emotional level.

Mel is the most assertive of the three Charmed ones, and the first one to leap into action without thinking of the consequences. As one example, when she sees someone about to “magic out,” she attaches her own magic to them, enabling her to teleport with them—into unknown circumstances. She tends to be impulsive in her decisions, deciding her lover is better off knowing nothing about magic, or their connection, and going through with the mind-wipe to protect her, not realizing that it will change a lot about her life, too (unemployed!). Mel simply doesn’t see how her momentary decisions tie into the bigger picture, so unexpected consequences catch her off guard. She can be pessimistic about the future under stress.
Judging Functional Axis:

She doesn’t understand why her sister wants to be included, or have others’ support – she doesn’t really care what people think about her, or factor them into her decisions much. Mel, when she decides to mind-wipe her partner, is thinking about protecting her through the quickest means possible (Te) but not whether her behavior is intrusive or not – if their places were exchanged, she would hate that happening to her, but she fails to think about that, or put herself in their place. She can be blunt and assertive; when others cross a line, Mel puts them back in their place. She’s prone to snap judgments and leaping on ways to accomplish things quickly, which shows her strong Te usage.

Bold and risk-taking, Mel wants to change the world. She believes in and promotes causes. She stands up to bullies, and she won’t take any crap. Mel has a tough-talking attitude and does not put up with nonsense. She manages her anger well, and keeps a cool head even in an intense situation. She wants to push for feminist/lesbian rights. Her 7 wing doesn’t like to face the negative consequences of her decisions, and seeks distraction in the form of new experiences. Her 4 feels different from others, and has no interest in appealing to them. Her counter-phobic 6 sometimes shows up in paranoia and assuming the worst of people; she can have a cynical, suspicious, and distrustful attitude, as well as occasionally have doubts about the wisdom of her decisions. Ally is a rebellious spirit just waiting to emerge. She keeps her thoughts as music lyrics, goes about her mundane job, but when opportunity shows itself, she loves to show her singing skills. She is extremely reluctant to take Jack’s offer initially because she feels like he is trying to mold her into something she’s not. She also expresses disdain when her father pushes her to go through with this because she thinks he’s just starstruck and she is above all that. But once Ally gives in, she is all in. She decided that Jack is worth emotionally investing in in the long term, despite clearly knowing how badly he is afflicted by alcoholism, but she chooses to just accept this and carry on forward, merely expressing her anger towards him when he crosses the line (Inferior Te).

Ally may be reluctant at first, but she does quickly enough jump on opportunities when they present themselves. Quitting her job on a whim? Check. Hopping on stage even though she feels ill prepared? Check. Getting married on the spot? Double check. Once she gets in front of the crowd, she reveals herself as a natural born performer. She rides her gut instinct and feels confident in handling whatever is coming her way once she embraces an option. She can quickly push through insecurities, rise above them and unleash her full potential, putting both naysayers and her own doubts to rest.

Values: hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play.
Ally’s most prominent trait is her loyalty and devotion to Jack. Once she has decided he is worth it, she will stick to his side no matter what, merely micro-managing his mishaps. She takes her music career very seriously, going step by step to reach the top and making sure she comes off as a legitimate artist and performer as opposed to some overnight success that quickly burns out.

She only embraces her inner performer once Jack pushes her to and the crowd clearly approves. She is highly insecure and needs to dip in toes into becoming a star before fully embracing it. Her 4 fix however reminds her that she needs to be true to herself and her own artist, rejecting any notion that she needs to do this and that in order to play the part. Her 8 makes her very assertive and combative when anyone attacks her. In contradiction to her 4, she does do whatever she has to, to further her career and market herself as a profitable singer.

Maxim is the poster-child for unhealthy Si – everything in his life ties back to his dead wife. He lives in an unhealthy loop of repeated behaviors, unable to break free of them until he finds a woman to love – and then he brings her home to the same house, which has not changed, the same staff, the same routines, the same parties. And finds himself slipping into the same dark moods and paranoid thoughts. Maxim finds himself comparing the two women, and finds relief in that his second wife is nothing like the first – a total opposite. That’s the only way he can break free, but he does not truly pull away from Rebecca until forced to leave the house behind and start anew on the continent. His inferior Ne often plays out worst case scenarios as to what will happen to him, if the police find out the truth. He is also blind to the influence of Mrs. Danvers on his bride.
