Family, Friends - what's your relationship with the concepts of friendship and family? are you out to your family and friends, if you have them?

To put it less succinctly and not as crudely: we aren't sure, and there's been a lot of long-time questioning around both family and friends, about our platonic and familial orientations, all of that

Collectively, we&'re aplatonic. Or, more specifically, we're darkgrayplatonic, we're narcplatonic & neuroplatonic, we're aplatonic-adjacent, and platopunk. Translation being, we experience platonic attraction so rarely it's usually preferable to just call ourselfves aplatonic outright, our NPD and other conditions (schizophrenia being another one of the big ones) are part of why we're aplatonic and have a big impact on how we approach friendships (and how platonic attraction is experienced on those rare cases we have it), and we kind of make our own way with how our friendships go

We get asociality as one of our most common schizophrenia negative symptoms. When we do take platonic interest in someone, it's usually because we see them as admirable and someone that would elevate us& to know. We like hierarchical friendships, though there's a lot of ways that can go. One thing we've found kinda amusing is that a lot of the people we get platonic crushes on have ASPD and/or DPD; it's not intentional, just a pattern that keeps on popping up

And it took us a long time to realize we're aplatonic. We wanted to be aplatonic, we felt envious, but it didn't fit. And then in hindsight, a lot of what we thought was platonic attraction was community attraction, or communal attraction, or presential attraction, all of which we& experience pretty frequently. Platonic attraction itself? Not so much

We're not usually interested in making new friends, we're happy with those we've got. We don't want to be called someone's friend unless we have mutually, explicitly agreed that we have a friendship going on. And we& value our acquaintanceships and community members a *lot*! Something else to write an experiences post on eventually. We just don't want to try and force them into that 'friend' box. That's not what they are and we don't want them to be that, we're happy with our relationships as they are. And this has taken us yeaaaaars to figure out

Family-wise... we&'re questioning if we're afamspec, but it's been difficult to figure out. We get in loops all, do we actually not experience familial attraction, or are we just traumatized? And yeah, we know that it's actually common for afamilial stuff to be trauma-related, but if it *is*... We've got the concern that labelling it as afamilial would lead to a mental shift making us& really firmly averse to the idea of repairing those familial relationships we've got. And while we flip-flop on that, it's uh... the body's father, at least, he's trying. And we can really, really see that he's trying. And I don't think we want to give up on him, cause it's clear he's not giving up on us

Which... I guess that I wrote that at all is a point towards the allofamilial side. I know we& experience familial attraction in-system. There's a pair named Zahav and Dror that most of our fronters feel familially towards, they kinda got put into the dads role and seemingly have embraced it. I don't personally care about them but I was born yesterday and split over an argument with the body's father so I'm just kinda against the idea of having a dad in general, but that's just me. I know in another system in this body, there's a good handful of fronters who've got some sort of group mom thing going on, so, in-system familial attraction

And we've mentioned it before but our cultures impact the whole questioning afamspec thing too. Judaism heavily values family, and in a way we& feel we would be betraying our ancestors somehow to not marry and have kids with another Indigenous person from our nation or cousin nations. It's all complicated, I don't know

And in terms of being out! Yeah it's pretty fucking obvious lmao, at least that we're queer. I don't know what the body's family does and doesn't know about our identity, I think they think we're a trans man and for the most part we let them, they surely know there's nonbinary stuff going on even if they don't have language for it. Body's parents still deadname us all the time but our siblings use our actual name. Body's dad does our t shots sometimes

Friends-wise, vast majority of our friends are online, and online we're... Online we run radiomogai lmfao. Offline, we've got one friend, who also knows. Even talked to them about occunous stuff. We're out fully offline, have microlabel keychains and all that, not that anyone ever recognizes them. Most of the time we're either clocky or ambiguous, depending on your mindset, and we openly only use it/its and neopronouns offline, so... Our acquaintances, familiar faces, all of that, people know we're queer, regardless of how many actual details they're aware of
