This is my homework these days. Heck, I may as well call it my new bible. Following a 3 month bout of active autoimmune inflammation, and (frankly) a lifetime stuck in a milder version of the pain/inactivity/atrophy cycle, a doctor has informed me that my MRI scans reveal a “very weak body.” I have emerged with a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, and a newfound appreciation of exercising with a goal of improving the strength in my muscles. That is THE ONLY THING that alleviates my pain. I swear, it works better than ibuprofen and acetaminophen combined! So I’m eating healthier meals, going to the gym every day, and teaching myself how to safely get strong. I feel super awkward being the 44 year old woman with 44% body fat racking up to bench my less than impressive 40 pounds. 🤣 But seeing as how the alternative is decades of pain and disability leading to an early death (I’m not even exaggerating here), well I don’t really have a choice. Looting around in the treadmill just isn’t going to do what I need it to do! #startingstrength #thinnerleanerstronger #powerlifting #powerliftingwomen #hlab27 #fibromyalgia #spooniestrong #fat2fit2019 (at Galveston, Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bt1L8JVlHbV/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1fqcvp4y6hhzs
