Alec's prophecy became true

You know what is crazy? When Alec told Robert he would split the Clave apart if he inherited the Inquisitor position from him-

Then he became the Consul- a title even higher than Inquisitor. That turn of events indeed split the Clave apart, the Cohort staying in Alicante and the Clave-in-Exile building their new base in New York.

From Secrets of Blackthorn Hall and a few mentioned from Better in Black, we know Alec's trying to negotiate with the people in Alicante for a joint solution, despite those meetings never coming into fruition. What if his plot in The Wicked Power is realizing the Cohort will never agree to peace, and he has to make a difficult choice, a final solution to save the rest of his people?

Also, either Alec got some pretty damn prophecy abilities from being around Magnus too much (Magnus' prophetic dream, anyone?) or he's the best at keeping his words.
