And, of course, Gretchen Felker-Martin's Red Hood comic was cancelled. Because she felt happy for the death of a man who dedicated his career to spouting white supremacy, zionism, transphobia, and racism - to the point of constantly inciting violence. To the point of saying the deaths of children due to school shootings were an acceptable loss to keep gun laws loose in the United States. A man who said that, if his infant daughter were to get pregnant after being sexually assaulted, he would make sure she'd have the baby.
Gretchen Felker-Martin was fired from writing a comic book while Jeph Loeb, a racist who said Asian people are disposable and that`s why nobody cares about watching them die on television, is writing his own Batman book right now. Felker-Martin was fired while Scott Lobdell wrote Red Hood for almost 10 years even after being accused of (and admitting to) sexual harassment. Felker-Martin was fired while Tom King, an ex-CIA agent who worked on the Iraq war and has joked about the torture of prisoners is celebrated as one of DC's greatest talents.
I'm seeing people say this wasn't even "the right" reason to cancel the book. I just read the first issue. It's not even close to bad. It's an interesting noir with great art and a very nice voice for Jason Todd. It could've potentially been the first interesting Jason Todd comic since Grant Morrison wrote the man. Batfamily and Jason Todd fans who were up in arms, harassing the woman, begging the book to be cancelled, calling it the "evil comic"? You are all children. More importantly, you are all T R A N S P H O B E S.
If you dedicate this much of you life to harassing a trans woman out of a book while the men I've mentioned get to enjoy healthy, wealthy careers, you are pathetic.
re: LANTERNS new teaser
Hal's gl uniform jacket is poop colored.
MCU-style of superhero uniform, aka pseudo militaristic and boring.
Hal is suddenly racist towards aliens. Gotta thank Tom King for that.
No Carol. No Cowgirl. We can't have them. Gotta thank Tom King and James Gunn for the random new love interest.
Grim dark copaganda show. Gotta thank Tom King.
Again. No Carol Ferris.
Hal DOESN’T GO TO SPACE because "they are all aliens". HAL. DOESN’T GO TO SPACE.
Fuck Tom King. Enemy Number One.
some writers I speak of like they are my closest dear friends and others as if they did me personal bodily harm
FIRST OFFICIAL POSTER FOR SUPERGIRL
Couple things I'm noticing right off the back. Her costume is slightly different than the one she wore in her Superman cameo. I'm pretty happy with it because my one critique of that costume is I wanted a bigger belt, more like her Woman of Tomorrow art, and that's exactly what they changed here. The skirt also appears to be a different material and slightly longer, but it's hard to tell from here since she's wearing her trench coat.
I love the attitude of this poster. I love how apathetic and reckless she's seen to be, it sets up her character arc really well.
Also, a thought I just had while typing this, can we talk about how Kara leaves Krypto with her cousin when she goes on these benders? Initially I thought it was because she couldn't take care of a dog at the same time, but maybe it's because she realizes the kind of trouble she's getting into and the fact that these bars have red suns. He would lose his powers the same way she does and she doesn't want to risk him getting hurt. That's so sweet. She's not so worried about her own safety, but she doesn't want to put Krypto in harms way.
"[Dick Grayson is] just this incredibly positive, pure force of good, and I wanted to show that to the world as well." — Tom Taylor
"Nightwing is…incredibly vital to the whole DCU and adaptable. He knows everyone. He’s served as a follower, and he’s served as a leader. He has connections to the Teen Titans and the Titans and the Justice League and the Bat-group… So, he’s facing the dark web, but he’s at the center of his own web." — Benjamin Percy
"In many ways, even more than Superman or Batman, Nightwing is the soul, the linchpin, of the DCU. He's well-respected by everyone, known to the JLA, the Titans, the Outsiders, Birds of Prey—everyone looks to him for advice, for friendship, for his skills. He's the natural leader of the DCU." — Phil Jimenez
"No matter how much he’s tempted to the dark, to vengeance, he always soars above." — Steve Orlando
"As Bruce's closest ally besides Alfred but somebody who Bruce probably pushes away more than any other person…Dick Grayson…is [Bruce’s] greatest tether to humanity. Dick's the person that would pull him back from the edge…Dick is an integral part of the Bat mythology and an endlessly interesting character." — Scott Snyder
"To me he's kind of the heart of DC Comics...he can be the heart and soul and carry the entire DC Universe." — Tom King
