Usually the good people of the ZA/UM collective (not to be confused by the Husk carrying its name) wrote fantastically well for English not being their first language.

I mean, Disco Elysium is amazingly well written, not just as a video game, but as literary media, end of.

But they did fall into the exact same trap as most people do.

I see why. This is a common mistake. It is Eisbär in German. Isbjörn in Swedish. Jääkaru in Estonian. All translate directly as ice bear.

It is ours blanc in French, and similarly Белый медведь in Russian and related languages say "white bear" too.

It is a very funny thing to fall through on.

I picked up on it because it was almost hammered out of me in school.

Because I am also ESL. Sure, I have a C2 certificate since over twenty years to show that I do know near perfect English.

But I do fuck up regularly too.

Nobody is perfect.

can someone explain why google translate is putting words in my mouth? i wrote "as a non native speaker, i don't notice it" and it translates that into russian as "as a person for whom english is not a native language, i don't notice it" excuse me i never mentioned the language name ? ? ? even so, it should be obvious that i meant my non native language is french, the one i'm translating from
