Creamy Asparagus and Chicken Pasta
Trofie - Temporary Score: 7
Description: short, thin, twisted pasta, about an inch in length, thick in the middle and has pointed ends; originated in Liguria (Italy), recommended to be used with pesto sauce
wikipedia really goes all in for Trofie! in my own search and research, i've found another shape (Trecce - also eaten, review coming soon!) that commonly gets mislabled as Trofie. Trecce altho roughly the same length, is a true spiral, whereas Trofie is twisted. think of a ribbon: twist it tight, you have Trofie; let the twist relax and get some space, you have Trecce.
First Take Points: 3 - i obeyed the advice of wikipedia, because i do everything the internet tells me to, and i ate Trofie with pesto. it was store-bought pesto, because sometimes, i just can't. it was good! not mind-blowing-rock-my-world-good, but perfectly serviceable pasta dish. the Trofie is a little bit thick, but it's short enough that you can get it good and chewy.
Remix Bonus Points: 2 - i'd eat it again, but like i mentioned, it wasn't earth-shattering. with all the other pasta shapes out there, this one just wouldn't be a go-to.
EDIT: i forgot about Käsespätzle!! thanks @makicarn!! that's worth points... also i forgot to total the points, so now i have done that.
Amusement Points: 2 - these are a pretty fun little shape tho; they remind me of an icicle (if both ends were the pointy business end that impales passersby below). i could see them being tipped with poison frog poison and shot out of a dart gun. you have to love when dinner can be murder and vice versa, right?
Annoyance Deductions: 0 - i'm not annoyed by this pasta in the least. the name is cute enough, the shape is cute enough. who has time to be annoyed about pasta shapes anyway?
Alternative Uses: as the above note was trending, i think this would be a fantastic Murder Mystery Dinner featured weapon. but it wasn't the butler, the chef, or the scullery maid. just who exactly requested Trofie for dinner tonight? who was alone with the pasta? who carefully avoided eating said pasta? no, not you rick, i know you're gluten-intolerant. the debutant and the dowager widow both have strong motives, but do we really believe that either of the know where the pantry is? why is my murder mystery dinner set in Upstairs/Downstairs? it's all about Trofie, shouldn't it be set in- OMG i have to write a murder mystery dinner set in Liguria! brb...

ズッキーニとトマトのトロフィエ // Zucchini & Tomato Trofie Summertime seasonal pasta at Saizeriya. This is probably the first time they’ve had a pasta shape I’ve never tried before! I liked the texture, and the zucchini was buttery and delicious.
