You, Hikaru and Yoshiki were close friends infact Hikaru would consider ya all a fun trio!

You all looked so perfect and normal from surface level─three young kids, whom's world revolves around fun but on deeper level things weren't so simple and sweet.

YOSHIKI looked at Hikaru and you talking; it felt so natural and real. Like it was supposed to be. You were so compatible together and even if you weren't atleast you guys were acceptable.

"Yoshiki! Help me wining against Hikaru."

"No, Yoshiki help me!"

"I am not getting involved with your mess. Solve─win it on your own."

"Oh come on! I was just kidding. Let's go to that river today. Happy now?" Hikaru had this charm─he would argue with you and then randomly make you smile the brightest too and honestly Yoshiki envied you for this. Maybe these kind of interaction let people assume about you and Hikaru being a thing; much to Yoshiki's unfortunate.

"WHY would I even date a loser like him?" You laughed pointing at the Hikaru who retort back with something too as you both once again started to fight.

It was so common for people to ask if you and Hikaru was together─even if only thing you guys ever do was argue; but it was only Yoshiki who saw that─others saw it as some sign that you might be into each other.

But isn't it wrong? If one is supposed to be interested in other one─why would they fight?

Wouldn't their eyes only hold admiration like Yoshiki's held?

But this society isn't smart enough. They don't seek true love, they only seek what they wanted to seek and he didn't had what they seek.

HIKARU saw the way you always cling to Yoshiki and how he always was able to take your tantrums. He always had sour feeling towards that but didn't verbally say anything cause what was he even supposed to? He also wanted Yoshiki to comfort him and took his side? How pathetic it would sound.

"Hikaru just listen to her."

"Like Yoshiki said!"

You laughed with a victorious smile as you wrap your hands around Yoshiki who just sighed.

Grumpy x sunshine? He heard some girls fangirling over you both. He found it annoying.

You ain't even sunshine; more like a crybaby.

He was the sunshine type; the one that would compliment Yoshiki's personality. Not like he really wanted to─but just to be accurate.

Hikaru sometimes wonder if one of the reasons he always argue with you on so random things is because he for once wanted Yoshiki to to took his side too.

"Hah! See even Yoshiki agrees!" Hikaru grinned as you pout at black hair guy and once again cries on his head,"Hey don't try to force him to take your side by crying!" He found it annoying─annoying how easy it was more you to get closer to him and have him on side.

Or maybe he was scared. Scared that one day you guys will just ditch him─yeah that what it was. He didn't want Yoshiki's attention─he didn't want to be alone.

YOU see the things nobody else see. You see the feelings Hikaru and Yoshiki─both have for each other, obvious feelings if you may say but except you it wasn't obvious to anyone; not even those two.

People always thought it was you and their choosen boy with second being third wheel, how hilarious it was: how far from truth it was.

It was you who was third wheeling. It wasn't even romantic feelings but rather their whole bond─it wasn't a mere attraction to body but rather to soul.

Why did you still intervene then tho? Shouldn't you just step down? What are you doing still being between them?

You won't accept but deep in your heart, a spark of envy would light once in while.

You don't know whom that envy was even for.

Was it for Yoshiki who always comfort you even when Hikaru was being mean to you? For Yoshiki, whom's presence felt like a home─safe and sweet.

Was it for Hikaru who despite always arguing with you, makes you the smile brightest? For Hikaru, with whom every impossible thing seems possible.

Or is it simply because you wished someone would look you at the way, Hikaru and Yoshiki look secretly at each other?. . .who knows.

Things were simple and sweet when it was just three kids playing in field.

Why didn't you guys even wanted to grew up?

Growing has only made this friendship a several layers of complex emotions that no one would even solve and they would continue getting complex.

his soft little groan wakes you up, light filtering through the curtains and onto your closed eyelids, essentially another cause for you to wake up, even if you tried to ignore your beloved boyfriend.

he rolls over, shifting all of his weight on top of you, and you groggily open your eyes, a small 'oof!' escaping you, because this man is built unfairly well.

he mumbles something tiredly, before snuggling against you. you can't decipher if it's the rambles of someone who's tired but awake, or just asleep.

and that's your boyfriend for you.

he clings onto you while you move around, making your breakfast, and apparently his, too, as he seems keen on trying to steal bites of your food while you are distracted, despite declining breakfast.

a laugh slips out of you as you catch him red-handed, and he stares at you, before bursting into laughter, the widest grin on his face, beautifully animated.

and that's your boyfriend for you.

god, you think you could watch him all day, with the way he focuses on his task at hand, mumbling to himself as he's lost in thought.

you're about to ask him a question but you hesitate, and settle for watching him instead.

the way he taps his mechanical pencil to the table, his foot tapping to some rhythm that is only accessible to him, the way he huffs in frustration, looks at you for a second, before quickly returning to his task.

it's like a flurry, a whirlwind of emotions, and you chuckle to yourself softly at the sight, the silliest thing you've ever seen.

the sound causes him to look up at you, face blank and oh-so-cutely confused, a small 'what?' slipping out, before you shake your head fondly and say 'it's nothing.'

and that's your boyfriend for you.

his enthusiastic and semi-anxious bouncing is what snaps you out of your thoughts.

he moves, once again a whirlwind, and you smile, grabbing his hand and dragging him along.

there are no protests, he is not some anxious dog waiting to go on a walk.

however, he is very energetic.

he pays attention as you talk to him, nodding and looking at you incredulously when you spout utter nonsense.

his animated and very bubbly laugh blends into your conversation at times, fitting perfectly with the two of you.

he is content, and fond of you.

and that's your boyfriend for you.

He was sat on a stool in his bedroom as you awkwardly leaned over him with a pair of kitchen scissors in your shaky hand as he looked nervously at the way your hand shook so close to his eyes.

"Remind me why im letting you do this?"

"Because you walked into a pole earlier because you couldn't see?"

You laughed a little as he shook his head. He was about to protest when he heard the metallic snip and then saw the chunk of hair fall to the floor.

"Oh my god.. oh my fucking god."

He looked up as he laughed and touched the strand of his hair that had been cut.

He looked at you as she shook his head and just watched you laugh.

"You told me you knew what you were doing!-"

"I.. lied?"

You shrugged as you snipped a few more Strands as he protested and yelped with every snip. All you could do was laugh as he ended up with a few uneven Strands. His black hair convincing his bedroom floor.

"At least you can see-"

"Don't take the piss."

Fair to say you paid for him to have his hair cut properly after the catastrophic events of the previous night.

The start of nothing - 1

“Pardon, Ma’am. Can we grab some ice cream?” Hikaru said as the three of them entered the store.

It was a hot day in the small village. Hikaru, [name], and Yoshiki had just finished school and decided to go and grab something to eat.

[name] unbuttoned her shirt, revealing her spaghetti strap shirt underneath. “It’s too damn hot for all this.”

“The sun feels so much better after having stupid math and history shut crammed into yer head all day.” Hikaru said as he threw his arm over [name]’s shoulder.

Hikaru opened the freezer with his free arm, allowing the cool air to escape and blow onto their faces. “Ahh, nice n’ cool.”

“Ugh! There’s not many left!” Hikaru said as he stared at the single ice cream in the freezer.

Yoshiki spoke up. “Right? There’s only a Papico left…”

“Such sad times for you two. I just want a cola!” [name] said as she pushed in between the two to grab the cola that sat in the freezer.

[name] gave the shopkeeper a few dollars and went outside to sit on the bench.

Yoshiki and Hikaru followed a few minutes later.

“‘Ice cream avail.,’ my ass!!” Hikaru said as he sat down next to [name]. Yoshiki sat next to Hikaru.

“An’ what the heck’s ‘frusty-cold’ ice cream anyway?” Hikaru asked no one in particular.

Yoshiki spoke up, “Still, can’t believe that jerk Hara made us run long-distance in this blazin’ heat…”

“Right. What it is is tor-cher, ain’t it?” Hikaru said with a laugh.

[name] hit him over the head. “You dumbass! That’s not how you say it.”

“It’s not?” Hikaru said as he held his head in pain.

“Yeah, Hikaru. You said torture all weird.” Yoshiki answered.

Yoshiki spoke up again, but [name] sort of tuned him out.

“You said it like you’d say ‘for sure’” Yoshiki started, “But it’s the same intonation as ‘scorcher’.”

Hikaru nodded. “Gotcha. Torture… it’s torture. I’ll be careful ‘bout that.”

The trio stayed quiet for a bit as the cicadas were heard.

“...So…” Yoshiki started, making the other two turn to him. “...You two really don’t remember goin’ missin’ in the mountains for over a week?”

Hikaru and [name] thought for a moment. “Naw. Not at all.” “Ion even remember goin’ into the mountains.”

“Haah..” Yoshiki let out a breath.

“It’s been a whole six months since then. Guess y’ain’t gonna remember any more’n you already do.”

[name] chuckled a bit. “An’ yet you keep askin’!”

“Yeah. It’s all right, ain’t it? How much longer ya gonna keep askin’ us ‘bout it?” Hikaru added on and agreed.

Yoshiki pushed the white haired boy’s head down as he ruffled his hair.

“It ain’t all right. Everyone was worried sick ‘bout y’all.” Yoshiki continued his assault on the boy’s hair.

Hikaru laughed. “Quit it!”

[name] laughed at the display.

Yoshiki eventually stopped, making Hikaru raise his head and look at him with a smile.

“So ya missed me when I was gone?”

Hikaru’s words were met with the nonchalance of Yoshiki. “Naw. Not really…”

“You liar! You musta cried like a baby. Bet you were all like ‘Waah! Don’t leave me all alone Hikaruuu-boo-hoo!’.” Hikaru exaggerated as he made a fake crying face.

Yoshiki again pushed the boy’s head down.

“Ah! Again!?”

Yoshiki huffed. “Don’t get carried away.”

“Ya always do that, just ‘cos yer bigger’n me…” Hikaru said.

[name] noticed how Yoshiki hadn’t responded to Hikaru’s comment. “Yoshiki? You okay?”

Yoshiki kept silent for a moment.

“Hey.” The boy broke the silence. “Can I ask y’all two somethin’ that might sound kinda weird?”

Hikaru smiled at Yoshiki. “What is it? Gonna confess yer feelings to one of us?”

“Dumbass! You know I like girls!” [name] hit the boy upside the head.

Yoshiki shook his head at Hikaru’s answer. “Naw.”

“...Listen, this ain’t somethin’ that came ta me just now.” Yoshiki started.

The cicadas started to buzz louder as Yoshiki went on. “It’s been on my mind ever since you two went missin’ an’ came back. So i’ve been wonderin’ ‘bout it for a while…”

“You two ain’t really Hikaru an’ [name], are ya?”

Hikaru and [name] looked at the black hair boy in horror.

“huh?” “what…?”

The left side of Hikaru’s started to… melt.

[name]’s forehead started to melt as well, starting from a hole that had suddenly formed.

“Were s’posed to be perfect copies of ‘em…”

Yoshiki was stunned as he saw the melted part of Hikaru come towards him.

“...Ah…”

Hikaru leaped and engulfed Yoshiki in a hug. “Please…”

“...Don’t tell anyone…”

Hikaru had his eyes closed as he spoke. “This is the first time we’ve lived as humans. School, friends, ice cream — we’re enjoyin’ all of them for the first time ever…”

Hikaru slowly started to open his eyes, tears starting to well up in them. “I may be borrowin’ this body an’ this personality… but my feelin’s for you are real…”

“So please…” Hikaru started, “I don’t want to kill you…”

Yoshiki’s breaths were short as a stream of tears fell down his face. His nose runny as he looked for a way out.

Suddenly, [name] embraces Yoshiki as well. She had let her chin rest on his other shoulder.

“The day you tell a soul is the day I lay your life down myself.” [name] whispered in the boy's ear as she closed her eyes as if she was going to sleep.

For some reason, [name]’s words did not bother Yoshiki. It was Hikaru’s that bothered him most.

From his standpoint, [name] has always seemed to be the type to say things like that. Even if this false version is saying things like that, it’s only taking from her personality from when she was alive.

Hikaru never said stuff like that when he was alive, so it was horrifying to hear those words come out of his mouth.

At any rate, [name] and Hikaru’s not around anymore… if that’s how it is, then i want you two to be by my side even if you are fake…

“Okay… ‘Hikaru’ and [‘name’]. Nice to meet you both.”

“[name]!” Hikaru calls out to the girl who was painting her toenails.

She looks up, annoyed at how he distracted her. “What do you want?”

“What are you gonna be after ya graduate?” The boy asked with a smile on his face.

“A beautician.” [name] said without hesitation.

Hikaru looked at the girl confused. “The hell is that?!”

“Someone whose job is to make someone’s appearance look better. Something that YOU need!” [name] said before she stuck her tongue out at the white haired boy.

Yoshiki looked at the two while they argued. “Doesn’t that mean you would have to go somewhere more populated for work? Since there’s no beauticians in the village..”

“Yeah… I already talked to my mom about it, and we have family in Tokyo so it’ll be easier for me to get jobs in the city.” [name] said as she went back to painting her toenails a nice shade of [fav. Color].

Hikaru laughed. “Then I guess I'll have another place to drop by when I need to use the bathroom or when I need a place to crash!”

“Like hell you do!” [name] said before she threw a manga at the white haired boy’s head.

“Hikaru!!” Yoshiki called out.

Said boy had stopped walking and turned to look at the person who called to him.

“Oh…” the boy started before realizing it was Yoshiki. “Yoshiki! What’s up?

“So, ‘bout this weekend…” Yoshiki trailed off as he waited for Hikaru to answer.

Hikaru started to scratch the back of his neck. “Ah.. this weekend’s no good for me. I’m goin’ to the mountains…”

“The mountains? Why?” Yoshiki asked.

“......” Hikaru stood for a moment, “Well, thing is…”

The white haired boy made a stupid face. “It’s a see-kweht.”

Yoshiki woke up.

The birds outside were chirping like there was no tomorrow.

‘...It was a dream.’ Yoshiki thought. ‘From when they were still alive…’

‘The last time I saw his face was when he was impersonating Hara.’

Yoshiki let out a small “Heh.” before thinking ‘So dumb…”

Yoshiki had shifted himself into the fetus position and started to groan quietly in his room.

“Yoshikiiii! Come eat breakfast already!”

“Hmm…” [name] hummed as she looked up at the fleshy ceiling above her.

Another [name] had materialized out of thin air. She wore a strapless black dress that reached the floor and had a dragging train in the back.

The [name] in the dress looked over the [name] laying down on the floor and scowled. “You died, did you not? You shouldn’t be here.”

The [name] laying down turned to lay on her side and ignored the [name] in the black dress. “‘s not like I can do nothin’. I’ve been locked away. You won the body and I lost it. Just leave me alone.”

The [name] in the black dress didn’t say anything before huffing and walking away. “You will break. And when you do, i’ll take that as my victory.”

“Do whatever the hell ya want! Shit, ‘s not like i can do a damn thing about it.” the [name] in a fetal position yelled back, letting out a small chuckle before eventually falling asleep while the [name] in the black dress disappeared.
