‘ the world is a little happier with you in it. ’ - alecto (i’m trash and i’m not sorry)
Send me a prompt if you want a drabble ya’ll
Itwas no secret from him that Alecto was not the same as she had been before he’dgone to prison. She’s changed, hardened, lost pieces of herself along the wayand now he was back, also changed, also hardened, his pieces more jagged andthey didn’t feel as though they were all in the right place. It was no wonderthat things between them had changed. There was relief at first, relief to beback within reach of one another, relief at not being alone anymore, relief becausethey’d waited so long. But relief could only get you so far and then there wasother things to deal with.
Therewas the anger- intentional or not it was there. Misdirected it could be foundthrown towards either of the two lovers. They’d been brought together by theirblood lust and now they were ripping at the seams. Both more volatile and lesswilling or less able to conceal it.
“i said i love you.” (Nicolet <3333)
June 1981
“I’m just saying, you don’t have to accept every single mission they propose to you Nick. You’re high up enough that you can delegate.” Violet said with a frustrated huff, throwing the clothes she had worn that day in the hamper. “Two weeks? Two bloody weeks?” She had to remind herself to keep quiet, not wanting to wake either of the kids, or Matt specifically; Holly could sleep through a stampede of elephants going past her room. Matt would wake up if a feather touched the end of his bed
“It’s an important mission Vi, it’s best that I go, I’m the more senior Auror on the case.” Nick sighed, rubbing at his temple as he leant against the end of the bed. He knew that the conversation would take this turn, as much as he’d hoped she would just say okay and good luck, that wasn’t the woman he’d married.
“Nick, I understand that, but please, can you just listen to me for a second-“
“Vi I always listen to-“
“No shut up, You’re not the twenty one year old Auror anymore, who can go on missions without so much of a second thought. You’re a father, you’ve got so much more at stake. I just feel like you’re not taking that into consideration anymore” She threw up one hand weakly with a sigh and Nick looked down at the floor to avoid the sharpness in her gaze for a moment to gather his words.
He looked back up at her and took a deep breath “I know I’m a father, that’s just more of a reason why I do the work that I do, so I can make sure that the world my kids are going to grow up is safer than it is right now. I’m trying to help not just our kids, but also everyone’s, it’s my job Vi. And I know it’s hard for you when I’m go on missions, but they’re important, that’s why I do them. I wouldn’t put myself in danger for no reason” Vi stiffened at that, she hated being reminded that he put himself in danger on a regular basis, at times she didn’t care why he did, she just wanted him home on the couch with her.
Nick stepped forward and rested his hand on the side of Violet’s head, his thumb brushing against her cheek in an attempt to calm her “This is a serious mission, and the best bet for it going well, and being successful, is if I go, as the more experienced officer. I’ll be with other Aurors, I’m not alone, but it’s a huge job”
“That you’ll be on for two weeks!” She snapped, pushing his hand away and walked to her side of the bed, pulling back the covers, “And by the way you explained it, it could turn into more than that. So how long should I tell our kids that they’re not going to see their Dad for? Two weeks? Three? A month?” She asked him, feeling guilty as soon as the words left her mouth, watching Nick’s face change to one of guilt as well. She knew he struggled with the balance of home and work, especially in such trying times. He had such a strong moral compass that it made him want to do everything in his power to make the world a better place, which made decisions like this, and missions like this, so much harder. Nick didn’t say anything, so she got into bed.
It was a long moment of silence before Nick spoke again “I have to go Vi”, only then moving from his place at the end of the bed to his side, getting in and pulling up the covers. “I have a duty to do as much as I can to stop this evil that’s happening all around us” he said, and waved his wand to turn off the light. Hopefully she would be more understanding in the morning.
He was about to fall asleep when he felt arms wrap around his middle, and Vi’s face pressed into his back, holding onto him tightly she mumbled something. He turned around and brushed her hair out of her face “What was that?” Vi looked up at him, barely able to see his face from the moonlight shining through their window.
“I said I love you.” She sighed, and buried her face in his chest “And that I’m sorry. I shouldn’t say things like that. I know it’s hard for you”
“It’s okay, Love.” Nick nodded, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close. “It’s hard for you too. I get it. I love you too.” He pressed a kiss to the top of her head. “I love you too”
The pair of them didn’t say anything else after that, just fell asleep, not thinking that in the morning the kiss goodbye would be for much longer than usual. But Nick would come back, Violet knew he would. He always did.
“quit it or i’ll bite.”
Emmeline had kept an eye on Sirius since the night at the Quidditch pitch. The two had not so sneakily been catching up every now and then after curfew, or even in-between classes on the rare occasion. Tonight though, Gryffindor had won the Quidditch match, and Em had been invited to the celebrations with the rest of the Ravenclaw team. Whenever anyone won against Slytherin, it was cause for school-wide celebration.
It hadn’t been long before Em and Sirius had found each other, and were sitting on one of the couches, Em’s legs thrown lazily over Sirius’s lap and under the blanket that had been on the back of the couch. They weren’t alone though. A few other members of the Ravenclaw team and another Gryffindor were all in a circle, discussing- well Em wasn’t really sure what, she wasn’t paying attention. She was far too concentrated on her own little game. Which involved her hand moving up Sirius’s thigh, and resting on a place she’d become rather familiar with over their past few encounters. Covered by the blanket, and the shape of her legs on his lap, nobody had noticed. Em was having a lot of fun being exactly what he had suggested she was that night on the Quidditch pitch. A tease.
