He was perhaps being a bit too arrogant - but Sytry was no fool. He’d at least taken care to learn what to expect from her before challenging her - and of course, he had requested audience from a certain prince. 

He’s content to watch for a few moments, but he charges his body with electricity in anticipation of a quick retreat. Sytry keeps his promise to allow her one slash in, blood spraying in dark droplets on the ground as he leaps away. The sky is his home - and hopefully, he’ll be able to maintain the height advantage. 

Pain is nothing to him - the slight sting barely registers, a ghost of previous worse injuries. Still, as he alights, he realizes that despite his extensive battle experience, one crucial condition differentiates the current duel from previous ones:

He can’t kill her. 

Or... strictly speaking, in terms of skill level, he probably could kill her. He possessed centuries of experience, a long list of victories, and infamy of pedigree on his side. But... Uphir was Sidonai’s friend, and someone who also cared about the prince. And even if he wasn’t sure of Sidonai’s own feelings towards the girl... Uphir was still certainly Kasadya’s sister, and Kasadya was certainly considered a friend by Sidonai. 

Besides, he had no time to start a war, implied or otherwise, by killing a member of another royal family. 

... Which meant he couldn’t, in good conscience, actually hurt Uphir. 

“Gladly,” he replies... but his internal debate is anything but positive. 

... He could hold out his defense until Si got here... if he ever arrived. 

If worst came to worst, he might have to use his angel form for the extra power. 

Damn his own pride.

OC WEEK 2024

Day 6: Childhood

KIDZ CLUB TIME

The Kidz Club is the play group comprised of Sheol's young royals. Sidonai is actually the youngest out of all his friends. He is betrothed to one of the triplet princesses (and eventually one prince) of Mezora, Kingdom of Avarice.

Him and his best friend Mihr may have beat her to it though lmao

Too bad they got split apart because of the war :D They would've been a precious couple if their parents weren't mortal enemies

In the first panel, a gleeful Kasadya has her hands on Sidonai and Uphir's heads. She pulls them together so that their lips meet in a kiss. Sidonai is fully shocked and Uphir blushes. Kas yells, "KISS YU, NAI!"

In the second panel, a flustered, blushing Sidonai is off to the left-hand corner, yelling at Kasadya, "Ew, Kas! Uphir is my friend!" Kasadya, on the right-hand side, closes her eyes and shrugs. She coolly says, "But you're betrothed. One day you're going to be married."

The final panel shows an angry Sidonai with his friend Mihr. Sidonai has his left hand on his hip and his right hand in the air. He is holding up his index finger, which has a ring made of grass on it. Mihr stands besides him and grins. He holds up his right hand, showing off a grass ring on his middle finger. His left arm is wrapped around Sidonai's shoulder. Sidonai shouts, "That's gross! Besides, I'm already married to Mihr!" End description.]
