they only really bond over you. both love you a lot and want to see you happy and safe! and they'll both protect you and do everything to put a smile on your face!
I was wondering if instead of, you know, the typical Ventus x reader and reader is a bubbly and petite girl, the reader is a cold and intimidating dark knight and refuses quite literaly to remove their armor, and they have a super dark past. Bonus if they are seen as a villain but are just misunderstood and if they have scars on their face. And we can all agree grumpy x sunshine is one of the best tropes.

Ventus x Melancholy!Reader
Warnings: GN!Reader, Ventus being the sweetheart he is, angst (kind of), and these are gonna be headcanons since that was all I was able to come up with

I'm going to picture this as you saving him from an attack by a Heartless or an Unversed (your choice)
When Ven first meets you, he immediately introduces himself (cause it is the polite thing to do afterall)
But he wasn't expecting you to be so cold. So...introverted. It was strange to him.
But he wasn't about to give up. 'Cause that's not who Ven is.
Overtime, you start to warm up to him but still keep your cold personality.
One day, you decide to tell him about your past and why you kept such a cold personality
You tell him how you were a member of the Organization and one of Xehanort's children. And being one of his children, you were forced to only be a warrior. A vessel for darkness, even.
Ventus listened, horrified and with sympathy, wanting to know how to help.
He decides the first thing to do is try to make other friends. He takes you to different worlds and introduces you to everyone.
However, they know what you've done and still see you as a villain. A monster of darkness, if you would
Ventus started to angry with them, knowing the full truth of who you are and what you've done.
Out of anger and frustration, you storm off with your armor and go somewhere else.
Ventus immediately went after you, wanting to make things right and try to make you feel better.
He soon finds you sitting at a cliff, staring out at the stars. He slowly approaches you, not wanting to startle you. He sits next to you and gently places a hand on your shoulder
"Are you okay?" he asks. You just nod solemnly. He then apologizes for forcing all of this on you and how he wants to make it up to you
"It's fine," you reply with a small smile. "I'd rather have you as my only friend anyway."
Ventus is shocked at first but then smiles back, happy to accept your friendship.
And so, the two of you became an unstoppable duo, fighting against Darkness as one.
Hello! I saw you made a lot of fics about Ventus and I thought of something new.
What if we (gender neutral) are actually a knight but not the hero kind but more of the fallen/oath breaker type, with heavy armors and more of a dark aura, but we aren't actually evil, we're more like broken soul and misanthropist. We have some sort of gloomy personality and intimidating attire. I was surprised no one has thought of something like that on Kingdom Hearts.
I don't know how happy I would be if you did something like that because it has a special place in my heart 🥲 yk the grumpy x sunshine?

Ventus x Reader (GN)
“The heart is a funny thing isn’t it? It makes us feel all sorts of emotions: joy, sadness, anger, fear…
But all I feel is this the emptiness where a heart should be.
How long has it been like this? I’ve spent years upon years chasing the thing I’ve called “redemption” for so long, how many eons have I truly spent in this never ending circle? What have I not done to fix this mistake I made? What else is there left to do?”
The day has been long enough, looking for the girl I was supposed to bring back to the king. I figured I might as well, maybe I’ll get something at the end of the day. Maybe I’ll finally find the end to this continuous cycle.
“Maybe there’s an end to-“
Something dark darted out from the corner of my eye, seeing a small black shape fly across my vision before I could even strike.
“Definitely not a weapon. Too small to be a danger, at least to me.”
The dark onyx armor over my body clung tightly to me, Great Sword on my back as the helmet on my head stayed attached to my shoulders and head. The three fairies were just beyond this mountain pass, hidden deep in the forest. I didn’t care to ask and I didn’t care for a reason. Behind me, the castle grew smaller and smaller as the walk grew longer and longer, exhaustion not even on my mind as the path began to lead into a narrow space between the hills.
“There’s bound to be some sort of trouble ahead. Better keep my guard up.”
The royal family mentioned these weird shadow creatures popping up around the kingdom, seeming to come from what they called The Dark Fairy’s castle. There’s no doubt I’ll have to run into them… whatever that is.
“I doubt this dark fairy will be-“
A loud scream and thump was heard just ahead of me, the scream sounding like someone had gotten into trouble.
“Oh great now what?”
I ran ahead, feeling the heavy weight of my armor push down on my shoulders, my shin armor doing its best not to get in the way while my feet dragged along the path.
“I should’ve listened to Terra and Aqua… cause now I’m stuck here!”
A young boy with spiky blonde hair hung upside down with his leg caught in a tree, seeming to be struggling to get unstuck from about fifteen feet in the air. Gravity seemed to be keeping him from moving his torso up and grab his ankle, just dangling from the tree as I approached. His eyes darted to me, seeming to smile as he realized help had arrived.
“Oh finally somebody found me! Can you help me get down from here?”
The branch snapped as his words came out, falling onto his back as I approached him. He quickly stood up, rubbing the back of his head and looking around. I noticed his blue eyes wandering around the environment, finally settling on me. The metal armor on his shoulder hung a little low, as if he landed on it by accident. His clothes seemed unfamiliar to what I’ve seen others wear here, as if he was a stranger to this place.
“Sorry about that.” He laughed
“Are you alright?”
“Oh me? I’m perfectly fine but thanks for asking! What’s your name?”
His smile was wide, the blue of his eyes as bright as the sky, gleaming with a sense of wonder and joy as he looked me over once more.
“I’m-“
“That’s some pretty cool protection you got there! Can I try it?! That’s a pretty cool blade you got there too!”
This boy was rambling, seeming to be too full of energy and not knowing what to do with it.
“Oh right my names Ventus but you can call me Ven! Have you seen my friends? I’m looking for them. One is kinda tall and intimidating but his names Terra. The other one is a girl with short blue hair and her names Aqua. Have you seen them?”
“N-no. Sorry. I haven’t seen your friends.”
“Aw man. I was so sure they’d be here.”
“Do they have any relation to why you got stuck in the tree?”
He blushed, seeming to realize his fatal mistake of a landing… if I would even call it that.
“Well uh… sort of? I got lost trying to escape from-“
Tiny shadowy beings crawled from the ground, zipping around both of us as the way forward became blocked by thorns.
“Oh great more of them.” He whined
“You know what these are?”
“Yeah. They’re called Unversed. I was hoping I wasn’t going to run into any trying to find my friends. Just my luck I guess.”
One jumped at me, making me punch it and sending it back into the bushes as one jumped Ven.
“Got any ideas there Ven?”
“Working on it!”
He jumped into the air, slicing at three of them with what looked like a giant key in his hand. He held it backwards, opposite of how most people held weapons. More flooded in from the forest, making us both look towards the thorns covering the way forward.
“We gotta go forward!”
“Are you crazy?! That’s-“
From his blade came a large fireball, burning the thorns to ash as he ran ahead.
“Come on!”
Some time later…
Who knows how far we ran, but we eventually came to a clearing with a small pond and surrounded by circle of trees, a small house just beyond the tree line. Ven sat down, panting like he was out of breath. He seemed stressed, relaxing only as he saw me stop and look around.
“Never did catch your name.”
“My names not important. We have bigger issues ahead of us.”
“You’re right.”
He stood up, eyes focusing on the house ahead of us just down the path.
“I’m looking for someone.”
“Aside from your friends?”
“Yeah. I think my friends are looking for her too.”
“Wow. Your target must be pretty popular for a group of you to be looking for her.”
“Target? She’s not a target she’s just someone I’m trying to help.”
“But you want something out of it.” I answered taking off my helmet
“I didn’t say that!”
“You didn’t need to.” I put bluntly with a shrug
I sat down on a tree stump, wiping my forehead as i sighed with relief.
“I’m not a bad guy. I just want to help.”
I looked him up and down, my eyes drifting to a light green star shaped pendant hanging off a pocket on his side. I looked back up at him, some sort of strange feeling made me want to trust him. I mean, so far he hasn’t tried to kill me or lead me into danger, or maybe my mind could be playing tricks on me.
“Never mind. It passed now.”
“What passed? You look like you wanna punch me.”
His bright blue eyes gleamed at me with mischief… what did this kid want from me?
“It was nothing. Just a dumb question I asked myself.”
“And what would that be?”
I stood up, both of us locked onto each other for what felt like ages. I wanted to grab my sword so bad and smack him with the handle to knock him out.
“I don’t want to fight, I just wanna find my friends. I’m not here to cause any trouble.”
“And I’ve got a job to do. I’m not going to change my plans for a stranger.”
“Maybe I can help.”
“With what? Getting us lost? Almost getting me killed?”
“Okay both of those were an accident but if you help me, I’ll help you, deal?”
Ven seemed to have no ill intentions with whatever he had planned, just wanting to find his friends quickly. All I could do was just smack myself in the head mentally for whatever dumb situation I was about to get stuck in.

when I tell you that this lil guy's jaw was hanging open when you told him
and like, he started getting all stuttery and saying that he isn't worth being all connected to you and stuff

and you were just giggling while he was panicking
though he is more than happy to have life shared with you like that

he was SUPER hungry
so you convinced him to share this fruit with you
you were giggling and holding back laughter the whole time, but he really didn't care considering the dude was hungry as hell
once he put that thing away, you finally told him
and let me tell you, he was BAFFLED
at first, he laughed at you, thinking that you were joking
and once you told him that you weren't, he went silent
and then got a little teary
he quickly wiped said tears though and just looked at you, tilting his head and asking, "you really want our hearts to be connected, y/n? even if I don't have one?"

when you did, he agreed SO FAST
he wants to be there to protect you and be there for you your whole life, so to have a destiny that goes hand in hand is a dream come true
he wants to go through everything with you and eating that fruit in the sunset was amazing for you two

you and him have talked about the fruit before, you've explained it to him and the two of you have even joked about sharing one
but once you actually got one and showed Terra, the man was BLUSHING
"you really wanna do this y/n?"
"of course I do, dummy! what? you don't wanna do it or something?"
"n-no! it's not like that I just... are you sure?"
of course you were sure, so you cut that thing in half and handed it to him
he was hesitant, as he didn't want you getting involved in anything dangerous in the future, but you were so sure that you wanted to share this life with him and he was more than grateful <3

he wanted to share the fruit with Kairi YEARS AGO, but it never worked out because it was meant for her and Sora, so when you offered to share it with him after everything that had happened in the events of KH2, he couldn't believe you
of course he agreed though, you two had been through so much and you fought so hard that he knew that it was perfect that you two were to share this fruit
it was also perfect because you were back on Destiny Islands smiling and having the time of your life <3

You had decided to invite Ventus over for a sleepover, to have a bit of fun and show him what life was like. He had been sleeping for 10+ years, so you wanted to make sure he got to experience a bit of fun.
First of all, you didn’t sleep one bit. The two of you just stayed up all night, eating pizza and sweets. Sure he may be a growing boy, but missing one night of sleep wouldn’t hurt him. Plus, you may have made a mistake of showing him a few horror movies.
You made sure that he had the comfiest seat in the house when you watched the scary movies. You didn’t want him to hurt himself by getting jump scared or accidentally pull a muscle being so tense. You did make sure that after watching a horror movie, that you put on something a bit calmer. You didn’t want to completely traumatize him.
After that, he gravitated towards some of the newer video games that you had. Was convinced that he could beat you, then got absolutely destroyed. You let him win every so often though. You decided to make it a habit to let him play some of the story based games with you.
All night, he had a smile on his face. Even through terror at the horror movies, and frustration over not being able to defeat you in video games. Laughter echoed throughout the house and it made your heart feel warm.

A nervous cuddler until he starts getting into the groove of things.
Likes laying on your chest so he can hear your heartbeat, it really relaxes him.
He loves cuddling when he wants to go to sleep, it’s his favorite thing ever because you feel so nice and he adores it.
Likes cuddling in private because he gets embarrassed about other people seeing him, he’s not big on PDA. The most he’ll do is have you lean your head on his shoulders or lean his head on your shoulders.
He’s fine with spooning but he doesn’t like it too much because he can’t see your face.
Nightmare cuddles, he needs them. Sometimes the pain is unreal and he just needs you to hold him.
He likes when you stroke his hair and hold him close, it calms him down and he feels safe with you.
He’s not openly physical with many people so it’s a sign of trust when he actively seeks you out for comfort. He cherishes you a lot.
Cuddle quirk: This is going to sound a bit out there but he likes how you smell. Hear me out, it’s just your scent- maybe the smell of perfume, shampoo, cologne, or your clothes- reminds him that you’re physically there.
On the topic of scents, he doesn’t like overbearing scents, but he tends to like very “cold” and clean scents. Something like fresh laundry detergent or ocean scents are his jam, and it makes him even more of a cuddlebug.
Sora
Excited cuddler, even before you were dating.
He is very much a physically affectionate guy, and he’s gotta be touching/holding you almost every minute or he gets very sad.
He spreads his arms wide or he just wraps his arms around you- that’s how you know he wants to cuddle.
Even at night, the boy does not want to let go of you. You’re just a tangle of limbs at this point and Riku and Kairi make fun of how disgustingly domestic you two are.
He doesn’t mind any cuddling position honestly. You wanna be the big spoon? Sure! He is the big spoon? Cool! He just wants to hold you.
His favorite cuddling position however has to be the pretzel though (that’s what google calls it ig, but think of it like you’re laying on his chest but both your legs are wrapped around each other).
Goes crazy when he sees you wearing one of his shirts/jackets/sweaters, and he HAS to squeeze you tight and tell you how cute you look.
Sora tends to enjoy you sitting on his lap and him resting his chin on your head while you’re doing something like reading, playing video games, watching tv. It’s not very comfortable after a while though because he complains his legs fell asleep (what a cutie)
Likes kissing you lots during cuddling sessions. Sometimes it’s just a soft kiss. Sometimes he is making out with you. Sometimes he’s just peppering kisses all over your face because you’re too cute. And other times he likes kissing your nose and seeing you smile.
Cuddle quirk: This boy also talks a mile a minute when you’re cuddling. He can go on and on and on just talking about random things that it takes him a while to realize you fell asleep. It’s okay though, he kisses you and then goes to sleep immediately with you.
Ventus
A sweetheart. Unlike Sora who does it immediately, or Roxas who hesitates, Ventus likes to ask your permission to cuddle. He doesn’t mind PDA- except maybe if it’s so excessive Terra and Aqua tease him- but he’s pretty much down all the time.
Big spooner. He loves spooning. He wants to feel manlier and stronger so he likes being the big spoon.
Secretly though enjoys being the little spoon in private because he does not want Terra and Aqua to tease him.
A lot of times you two cuddle horizontally on the couch and rest your head on your elbows when you watch tv or movies.
Pretty chill cuddler, he’s not like Sora who is excessively talking, but he’s a really nice, quiet, and relaxing cuddle.
Honestly though you two are probably surfing the web and then you just quietly snicker and show each other something funny you found or something you might wanna buy.
“Hey (Y/n), look at this picture, it’s hilarious!”
“Hey Ven, what do you think of these matching mugs?” “Oh that’s cute. You should get ‘em.”
9/10 your cuddling leads to a nap. The other 1/10 is interrupted by Terra or Aqua busting down the door and asking you guys a question.
Cuddles under the stars! Ventus likes telling you stories about them and maybe some constellations you can see, if you’re curious.
Please let him talk, it’s so cute to see his smile and his eyes light up as he points out a certain constellation or maybe his thoughts on the sky.
Cuddle quirk: BLANKET THIEF. Do not trust him with your blankets. He’s horrible. You will begin the night spooning and wake up cold after Ven yanked your blanket and has his back faced towards you.
You’d kill him except for the fact he’s snoring so cutely and you let him be before you grab an extra blanket.
He will steal that too.
Xion
Nervous-excited cuddler. She wants to cuddle, a lot, but she gets embarrassed and nervously asks if you could.
She does not mind it in public, although she’d rather have it be a bit more subtle because otherwise she’d get too flustered.
She likes being held, so she likes sitting on your lap or being the little spoon. She’s watched and read plenty of romantic movies so she wants the total romantic package.
She cutely makes a list of all cuddling positions she’s seen and says she wants to try every position with you. I-if you’d like to of course!
She finds she likes spooning or laying on your chest to be her favorite position ever.
Xion has a habit of tracing over your skin or drawing shapes while you two are cuddling. It’s super cute, oh my gosh, she just wants to remember how you look and every crevice, curve, and scar on your body. She thinks all of you is gorgeous.
Quiet whispering and talking. She likes to discuss what she today or what she wants to do in the future.
“Hey, I had a great day with you today. I think next time we go out we should try that new cafe that opened.”
She loves when you kiss her while cuddling. She feels so spoiled and she’s internally squealing at how happy she is. You make her feel like a princess.
Likes to watch scary movies as an excuse to cuddle you. Some don’t really scare her in all honesty, but she thinks it’s so romantic if you hold her and keep her close. If you don’t like scary movies she changes her plans to romantic comedies.
Some days she gets really emotional or down, and likes when you just hold her to remind her she exists. She has some terrible nightmares and likes to cuddle in order to not feel like she’s being actively hunted down again.
Cuddle quirk: She likes singing when you’re cuddling. Sometimes she’ll hum a song she heard on the radio while out and about, or a random tune she made up. It’s quiet and she’s got a great voice, so sometimes you just stare at her in adoration and she gets caught off-guard like “what’s wrong?”
When you explain it’s because you love her singing, she hides her face in your chest and mumbles the rest of the song.
Bonus points: start singing along with her and she’ll perform a duet with you. The smile on her face is so bright and it is even cuter with the red on her cheeks!
