I did a bit of research and I guessed the model she threw at Roy would weigh between 8 and 10 kilograms. I also experimented throwing a ten kilo weight onto the bed! So yes would definitely require a good strong arm, but definitely not impossible, remembering too that Anita is well-trained in self-defence. It would not have travelled very far though.

Anita has suffered some trauma, but as a very experienced police officer she also has lightning sharp reflexes. As @pixelcurious says below,  you do not sneak up on a trauma survivor. Especially one who is trained to defend herself! I think Roy reacted quite reasonably considering the circumstances, lulz!

I haven’t properly explored Georgina’s current marital situation…that will probably be grist for another couple of updates. And in case you missed it, here is the explanation I posted for Roy’s behaviour in an earlier reply:

In Roy’s mind, he is not ‘doing’ anything to Joël. Roy has his own moral code and has his own ideas of right and wrong. His actions are usually dictated by what makes him happy, not what makes other people happy. And in this situation he is not motivated by anything else but his need to know what happened between Joël and Georgie that night in AP, because the fact that he didn’t know was torturing him and making him very unhappy! Roy feels it is his birthright to know everything, and when things are kept secret from him it makes him feel like a loser. And being a loser is anathema to Roy. He has to win at everything. So Roy being Roy, he treated finding out what happened between Georgie and Joël that night as a competition. And now he’s found out the truth, he believes that he’s won the competition. So now he’s happy ;=)

Yeah, truth about Jim, but don't forget to talk about Anita's actions. While Jim was dealing with her anger issues, standing by her side, she went out cheating on him whenever she could. Am I the only person who actually feels sorry for Anita? I mean, she makes a lot of really questionable decisions, true, but mostly it's because her own life had never really been figured out. And no matter what she did, beating ones spouse so badly that she gets broken ribs is unacceptable. I almost wish it becomes knows what Jim did, but I have a feeling the kids, Teddy and Jared especially, will not take the info well.

Thank you as always for your thoughtful comments. I think at this point Anita on will just try and concentrate on putting her past behind her and starting a new chapter of her life. I agree it’s not fair that nobody knows what Jim did but then life isn’t fair either and not all stories have a happy ending. And don’t worry, there’s a very elite club of Anita supporters. We meet for coffee and cake every Thursday and new members are always welcome!

I love the fact that everyone sees things their own way, and I wouldn't want to see it any other way, I love peoples opinions just as much as this story. I think Jim went into his marriage with his eye open. He knew exactly what he was getting with Anita and he chose her anyway. I was shocked when he turned on her so violently tbh. I know everyone has their breaking point, but really Jim? He had no right to treat anyone the way he did Anita, why not just kick her out,as she deserved?

I’ve gone into a pretty detailed explanation about his reasons before but I’m buggered if I can find the actual post now. Anyway yes of course you are right about Jim knowing what he was getting into. However the straw that broke the camel’s back the night of his retirement dinner was the fact that he felt Anita had humiliated him in front of his peers and various dignitaries. It was also a night of very high emotion and he had had a lot to drink. NONE OF WHICH OF COURSE IS AN EXCUSE FOR HIS BEHAVIOUR, it’s just an attempt to explain what might have caused him to lose control and act in such a a despicable way.

Anita didn't kill Jim. She may have hastened the process, but his heart was ready to give out, as we know.  I feel sorry for Saffron that she hasn't had the (good)role model every child deserves and she seems to be turning out just like her Mum, which is sad as that is all she knows. I am still hoping that Anita finds some inspiration to be a better person.

I agree with you, asterleas. Anita is a terrible mother and generally shitty human being, but Jim was a manipulative bastard who coldly arranged for Joel to catch her cheating so he could swoop in and have her for himself. And then had the audacity to believe he owned her. He beat her for being exactly who he knew she was when he married her because she failed to become what he wanted her to be. He is a textbook abuser.

Thank you both for your considered comments. I appreciate your thoughts very much. As far as Jim is concerned, good riddance to a heinous excuse for a human being. I hope Anita will come to realise that the fact that she’s living, and Jim is dead is the ultimate revenge, and that she can move on accordingly and not become bitter or indulge in any more selfish, self-destructive behaviour.
