Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer - Console Fighting Games of 1995
Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer (1995) is Technos Japan’s stylish, anime‑driven 2D fighter set in a post‑apocalyptic future where Tokyo has been destroyed and society rebuilt on a man‑made island. When violence erupts at the National Belnar Institute, new transfer student Isato Kaiza steps forward — secretly the transforming hero Gowcaizer, empowered by an energy‑manifesting stone. His mission is to uncover the source of the island’s corruption and restore peace to Japan.
The game features ten playable fighters, each with unique abilities and flashy, manga‑inspired movesets. Its standout mechanic is the “Trade System”: after defeating an opponent, the player can permanently absorb one of their special moves, but only one can be held at a time — choosing a new one erases the previous. Defeating a character’s mirror match amplifies the absorbed ability, adding a layer of strategy to the tournament progression. With its vibrant anime presentation, transformation themes, and experimental mechanics, Gowcaizer stands as one of the more distinctive and ambitious fighters on the Neo Geo hardware. Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer was also adapted into a 3 episode OVA that released in 1996 and was directed by Masami Obari, who created the concept and character designs for both the game and OVA. An English language version would also be released in 1997 by U.S. Manga Corps.

So for edgyberzerker’s curiosity,I told her that I have a Gowcaizer manga which was never before seen till now. This is the Chinese version that I have but judging from the stuff inside,it seems to be the real deal, especially with that awesome angry Gowcaizer and to its credit,I find the manga more enjoyable than the anime because it understood what this franchise is..a parody and a satire of sorts. Gowcaizer being the main character but is being sidelined by the rest,Son Karin being Son Karin,Kyosuke Shigure being the more serious and aloof loner with mysterious powers,Kash/Hellstinger being the more dramatic and cool badass. Hell, even the Platonic Twins have character here than the anime. Ryo being a lot more rash and reckless while Suzu, her sister being a lot more like Kale from Dragonball Super. A lot more quiet and introverted. Ryo was the one who’s always pushing the lever too far, often not seeing that his hot-headedness would put Suzu into danger.
So if anyone is interested in this, lemme know. I just have a lot of schoolwork like firebending and water manipulation in Cinema4D to deal with. Also,I’m lazy.
