VampSMP spoilers(???)

Don’t look under the cut if you don’t want to know who the vamps are.

I think I figured out how to solve the continuity error in regards to what clothes Scott is wearing. Obviously, it’s kind of vague as to when it’s set, and the clothes they’re all wearing come from all across history, but they’re Minecraft YouTubers, I’m not expecting them to do thorough fashion history research just to make skins for the series. But with Scott in particular, he definitely isn’t dressed to be from 600 years prior to whenever this is set.

But really think about it. After 600 years, whatever clothes he was wearing had definitely decayed and fallen apart. There’s no way his 600 year old tunic stood the test of time. So, I think it makes sense that the clothes he’s wearing are clothes he found on one of the other skeletons in his crypt. Especially since the others refer to his clothes as vintage, and I don’t know about you, but if I saw clothes from 600 years ago (1425) I don’t think vintage is the word I would be using. That would make his clothes maybe 200 years old, possibly younger if his crypt was exposed for travellers to get trapped in, and fix that continuity error.

Although, the whole “Scott dresses old fashioned” bit is really funny when you consider Scott dresses pretty modern compared to some of the others.

Spoilers for VSMP Session 6 Apo's perspective.

I know this might not ending up being the case, but I like to think the reason Apo killed Truffle in front of Pyro is because she was hurt and she wanted to hurt someone else.

Like, Owen led them to the crypt where Scott and Pyro were waiting to drink from them, and in fact they both actually did drink from her. And then they gave her an ultimatum, sacrifice herself or someone else to be turned, or if she didn't, they would go after her loved ones. She chose to sacrifice herself so that no one else would be hurt and as a result, they're now trapped in Oakhurst, unable to see the very loved ones they were trying to save.

They're hurt, they're upset, they can't see the one they love, they're trapped in Oakhurst with the monsters that forced her to sacrifice herself pointlessly, because they ended going after the Townspeople anyway. She can't take all that pain out on Owen for putting her in this situation in the first place, she doesn't believe he's even capable of love so she has no meaningful way of hurting him, they can't take it out on Scott for being the one to turn her, they know he doesn't care about anyone on a meaningful level and thus there's nothing they can do that will hurt. And she definitely can't attack them, that's a fight they can't win and it'll only make the rest of the vamps go after them. But Pyro, who was also there, who fed on them, who loves Truffle dearly, can be hurt. Pyro can be dealt a fraction of the pain she is feeling.

So, she gets Truffle, a creature she knows Pyro loves, and gives them the same choice she was given. To hurt a loved one. And when they refuse, it only makes Apo angrier because how dare he act all high and mighty after taking her away from her loved ones. So she kills Truffle in front of them and gives him the corpse to eat. And immediately after she regrets it, because as much as she knows he also loved Truffle, she wants to believe he's a monster because of what he helped Scott and Owen do to her. She wants to believe he's sick and twisted. So, at the end of the day, as much as she hurt Pyro, they hurt themself much more.

Curse(?) of Oakhurst/History of Oakhurst as far as I've figured out/theorised:

(spoilers for who the vamps are and some character backstories)

Oakhurst was supposedly founded 1,000 years before VSMP takes place, and based on all of the monuments and spellwork surrounding the village, I have to assume it was some type of witch who founded it. Possibly a holy one. Although, it's possible that this person is also the person who cursed Oakhurst to have massacres every 200 years as well. Martyn mentions his surname being Woodhurst and it having a weird similarity to the name of the village, so it's possible his family is meant to have lineage dating back to the founder of Oakhurst even if his nobility is fake.

200 years later, a massacre takes place. The first one. Presumably done by a vampire, maybe even a Goldsmith, since they are clearly meant to be a family from the villages history, but it's not clear. A witch, maybe even a Woodhurst, likely cursed the village to be virtually inescapable for the vampires, possibly making it difficult to escape for humans by accident or on purpose. Either way, Oakhurst is definitely cursed by this point because none of the vampires ever seem to leave after this point and we know that the massacres happen on this anniversary every 200 years. I also think this is when the Woodhurst's probably would have left.

Another 200 years later, 400 years since Oakhurst was founded, Scott Goldsmith does his massacre. Either he's already in charge and this is him punishing the commonfolk or this is his rise to power and he is establishing a brutal reign. It's probably the latter, since Scott is supposed to have been turned around this point, but either way, he massacres the townsfolk and rules over them with an iron fist. Eventually the townsfolk revolt against his reign and trap him in his tomb under a sleeping spell of some kind. By this point the beacons definitely exist, and maybe the books, so it's plausible that they were left by the Woodhurst witch when the curse was initially placed to give the people a fighting chance, and the curse would presumably only be lifted once the vampires had been eradicated from Oakhurst.

After another 200 years, 600 years since Oakhurst was founded, another massacre happens. It's unclear who, since the Goldsmith's are definitely gone by this point, and the Mayor doesn't appear to have ruled in such a way, but something happens and another massacre takes place.

200 years again, and 800 years after Oakhurst's founding, the Mayor is in charge, having seemingly risen to power using more typical methods, since his vampirism was largely a secret, even if townsfolk had begun to be suspicious of him. Owen is turned, and when he wakes up a fresh vamp, he finds his Mayor boyfriend is being burnt at the stake, accused of his murder, and in a moment of grief and rage, he massacres the town and burns the village down before burying himself alive under the lake tower (presumably his home since his things were inside). Prior to this, somehow or another, multiple families managed to escape, and it's not clear how they broke through the barrier and why it would "suddenly" happen (more on that later).

Another 200 years, 1,000 since Oakhurst was founded, the town is nothing but a wasteland and folktales, but the curse still stands. So, a bunch of descendants all just so happen to show up at the exact same time, inadvertently awaking Scott Goldsmith and Owen. And yes, I do believe all of them are probably descended from Oarkhurstians. Families had probably found ways to escape throughout the centuries, not just prior to Owen's slaughter-suicide, hoping to hide from the vampire threat and protect their children from it, either by hiding it or by teaching them to become hunters themselves, and many bloodlines likely forgot their original lineage. It would certainly explain why the curse chose to draw them in particular in. And with Oakhurst ready for another massacre, the players are trying to break the curse of Oakhurst, either by corrupting it and turning everyone, or by eradicating vampires.

Obviously, Oakhurst isn't the only location full of vamps and/or some of the vamps might have escaped over time if Oakhurst was the origin point since we know Avid and his hunting partner went after them with her eventually being turned and Abolish's family being drained right in front of them. We also know that werewolves seem to exist, at least in Sunny Side Cliffs, which is where Shubble and Pearl are from. Ren is also cursed, and it might have something to do with being a werewolf, but that's not super clear at the moment. So there's definitely gaps in this theory and we also don't even know if the whole Oakhurst massacre curse is real, but this is what I've deduced.

Anyway, that's just my theory, and it could very well be wrong, but it's what makes the most sense to me and it's the easiest way to tie up loose ends without just inventing stuff.
