6am CrossFit -- felt TERRIBLE. My legs were like lead, and I pulled something in my low back on the very first air squat of the warmup. I swear I never whine this much... but I've also never been injured this much, with this many little tweaks. Seems like I'm always saying "I don't want to do that, because X hurts." SIGH.
Breakfast: turkey-apple mixture
Lunch: CustomFit buffalo chicken salad (YUMMM) and Trader Joe's fruit bar
[...Can I just say, I had an incredibly long afternoon and I really wasn't hungry at all?!? I really didn't even think about food until 5pm or so, and even then it was more of a "hmm, I'd kinda like to eat something" mind tickle vs true physical hunger.]
Dinner: ...can I please ALWAYS come home to a fragrant steaming vat of bone broth?!? Got home at 8:15pm and ate EVERYTHING in sight. Cup of bone broth, two servings of green salad topped by pulled chicken, a small serving of chili, wayyyy too many almonds and cashews, and a mug of spice tea.
Overall, I suppose this was a good day, especially if you look at how much peppermint bark I was consuming in the weeks leading up to the holidays. However, I was displeased with the quantity of food that I ate in the evening, and even more displeased that when I got out of the shower tonight, I noticed new breakouts on my forehead. Not sure what that's about; I would think that any trigger foods would be out of my system now, but then again, I think it takes something like two weeks for your face to complete a full cycle of skin turnover, so maybe this is still the peppermint bark (and/or the New Year's Eve chocolate orange, and/or the ten thousand other things I ate before I started this adventure)? Or maybe there's something I'm still consuming on the Whole30 that's freaking my skin out... I shudder to think!
Rest day from CrossFit. Slept really well but had weird dreams (about hitting and punching people really violently... strange). Very hard to get myself out of bed and tired throughout much of the morning.
Breakfast: 9am, because that's when i got hungry. Had turkey-apple mixture.
Lunch: 12:45pm, another CustomFit meal: pulled pork with sweet potatoes and veggies. Delicious, but lighter on the protein and heavier on the carbs as compared to yesterday, and I got a LOT hungrier before I got to a stopping point and could finally leave work (at 7pm).
Dinner: first, a cup of bone broth and a handful of almonds to keep me from killing All the Things while I made dinner; then sautéed a pound of shrimp in lemon juice, garlic, and a little ghee -- YUM!!! Had this with a sweet potato (cut into fries, topped with spices, and baked), a small scoop of mashed avocado, and some Brussels sprouts. Then a fried plantain with almond butter, plus a mug of tea. This didn't feel QUITE as extravagant as yesterday (didn't crack out on the nuts to quite the same extent), but still too much. I should have saved half the shrimp. If it weren't on my plate, I don't think I would have missed it. (I did manage to save half the Brussels sprouts.)
Going to Olympic lifting class tomorrow evening, which is (a) the first time that's ever been offered at my new gym, and (b) really unusual for me, to be working out in the evenings. Curious to see how this goes!
