Day 13 @whumpmasinjuly-archive - Share some of your favorite niche whump tags!

Alright, so my favourite tags are things like living weapon, conditioning, mind control. I also like sick fic, fever, delirium, hidden injuries, and any sort of survival situation.

But I am not sure they are niche?

One that I really would love to see more though is sleep deprivation.

I have no idea why, but I have a really weak spot of exhaustion, tiredness, that point where the line between wakefulness and sleep blurs, where a person sways slightly as they struggle to remain standing. I especially like it when the persons cognition is effected, where their own awareness of their condition is hindered. Maybe they can't even remember why they need to remain awake, they are not sure what is even real anymore. Their thoughts are disjointed, their vision blurs and body aches, but they fight to remain awake.

As I say; I have no idea why this appeals so much 😂

bonus points if it is, as least on some level, self imposed.

Share some of your favorite niche whump tags.

I have so many. But ones I am particularly enjoying right now are: 1. team whump 2. more specifically team leader whump 3. drowning (fucking love everything about it whether or not it's whumper performing cpr, caretaker, or even rescuers!) 4. impalement (you can impale so many different parts of the whumpee for so many different enjoyable things!) 5. living weapon whumpee

Whumpmas in July- Day 13: Niche Whump Tags

Alright, I am not sure how niche most of these tags are, but anyway, here’s my list of favourite whump tags, for @whumpmasinjuly Day 13!

1. Royalty/nobility whump: I am a historical fiction nerd, and since most characters that drive the story in historical fiction are either royalty or nobility, there we go! And it is definitely whumperfly worthy to see all the different types of traits that are associated with such high status succumb to whump, which ranges from @tendertenebrosity ‘s sweet Lian, to @pale-is-the-prison ‘s prickly but deeply hurt Acanthir to @whumpflash ‘s Caelon, who has long since lost any memory of being royal.

2. Knight/solider whump: Knights are my favourite whumpees, again, because of the historical genre, and because they often have a code of honour that is…just, it is dear to me. @kim-poce does a great job of it in Kingdom’s Sword.

3. Sensitive whumpee: The characters I relate to the most are the sweet, kind, caring sort. Add whump to it, and wow! Most of my own protagonists are that sort.

4. Self-sacrificial whumpees: People who prioritise something/someone else above them. Closely ties to royalty/nobility/knight, etc. @redwingedwhump ‘s Audren is the first and one of the best I can think of. (Haha, I warned you that you’ll have to deal with a lot of my tags, and here I strike again!)

5. Broken whumpee: Whumpee who…is just lost. Who thinks they deserve it. An excellent example of this is @whumpwillow ‘s Envy.

ooooh, this was a very interesting challenge! 💖

stoic whumpee is delightful, obviously. misunderstanding or miscommunication is extremely fun because that trope always gives me whumperflies. social whump is delicious and i wish there was more of it (i'm not sure everyone tags it like this but it describes situations where a team member is being hurt by their teammates or just any whumpy social ostracization). i also love villain whump. also, any variety of monster whumpee tag - vampire whumpee and werewolf whumpee are especially delicious!

when it comes to fandom tags, if you are into really gnarly shit, especially cruel noncon whump, do yourself a favor and check out hydra trash party (requisite cw's for rough content but if that's your vibe, there's so much good shit in that tag). on ao3 "(insert character) needs a hug" is often great for emotional whump!

Not really niche but some of my favorites: #defiant whumpee and #nonhuman whumpee. #autistic whumpee and #neurodivergent whumpee and any sort of neurodivergent whump tag will always be my safe haven tho
