Scrolling through my camera roll & stumbled across this photo! 😂 I can remember this moment vividly! “If you listen to your body when it whispers….you won’t have to hear it scream.” I couldn’t agree more with that quote! Our bodies are smarter than we are and knows how to protect & heal itself!!! We get in the way of this process all of the time! I’m so grateful for the many reminders this past week of my yoga teacher training. It’s been a full week of anatomy; learning about the muscles, tissues, bones, blood etc in our bodies; how it all works together to help us see, hear, feel, move; walk; run; dance & of course do yoga!! It’s amazing how it knows exactly what to do if we get hurt or sick - it immediately springs into action to take care of whatever threatens its wellbeing which is why learning how to keep it safe during our practice or any form of exercise & even daily life is key! It’s quite remarkable, really, how incredible our bodies are & why it’s so important to treat it with love, respect, to truly take care of it while we can. It’s the only one we’ve got! I’m feeling ever so thankful for my body as I prepare for Week 3! More anatomy, massage and fun workshops!! Have a great weekend everyone! I’ve been sitting on the sidelines of the #YogiHowdYouDoThat3 #yoga challenge & I’ve been blown away by these crazy, mash-up yoga poses! These ladies sure are creative! Today’s pose is a #pistol #squat variation inspired by @greenideas80 & I knew I had to try. I played with touching my knee, grabbing my armpit, twisting more, switching legs which was all fun, but nothing was as much fun as falling over! I do enjoy laughing at myself when I practice! I also get a kick out of how my kitties look at me (swipe to see)😂 Not being able to “nail” every pose is OKAY! Sure it can be frustrating, sometimes scary! But I do think being able to laugh at yourself & not take it too seriously is important. I mean after all, as my wise yogi friend @yogamand says, “it’s the journey!” And she’s right! Some poses we may never be able to do exactly as we’ve seen it. We have to make it our own. In fact that’s most likely how these hybrid poses were created!! We all aren’t the same, we don’t have the same bodies & or capabilities, so why would our poses look the same? That would be rather boring don’t you think?🤔 What’s your take on it? Head hurting? Stand on it and soak up some vitamin D at the same time. That’s what I did, just as I got home from a full morning of classes and errands. I have a headache so took a few minutes to get upside down outside..but now I’ve got to prep for this evening’s class etc. I enjoy the prep, but if I’m being real, at this very moment, I would much rather be on the beach chilling right now 😩 This is how it is some days but we press on & do what we gotta do!
