guys guys I think I cracked intrusive thoughts

so you know how when you practice something, the message in your brain travels faster and faster between synapses and basically, it just gets super easy to do the thing as you keep repeating it?

Unwanted thoughts were absolutely raising hell in my brain last week so I tried applying that info like this: every time I have an unwanted thought, I think very intensely about something very good. That "happy place" should have nothing to do with the subject of the Bad Thought™ (to avoid triggering again).

For example, I think about skating with my best friend under a pretty sunset. Corny, right? HOWEVER.

As I keep focusing on this very nice thing every time my brain wants to focus on a very not nice thing, it gets easier to make the switch, and I'm spending less and less time struggling against unwanted thoughts, because I have something ready to occupy that space.

In fact, a lot of the time, I can feel when an unwanted thought or bad image or other thing is coming and I'll go straight to the sunset skate sesh. can't touch this

------- sometimes, these sketchy little intrusive thoughts try and find ways to get into the "happy place" too, and that sucks, but the way I deal with that is declaring that intrusive thoughts don't exist in that alternate universe lol. There are no bad things in that alternate universe, meaning if an intrusive thought appears inside it, it's not my reality thought safe place thing; mine is still safe. Is that maladaptive daydreaming? Idk, but these shadowy lil intrusive suckers aren't getting in there and that's what matters. So make adjustments to ensure the safety! 'tis ok.

It is still a bit of a struggle, and that is also okay. You are NOT your unwanted thoughts. You are whole and beautiful and strong wherever you're at.

This is just my experience lately but I hope it really helps someone out ::)

Let's just say that you've now got a big broody even madder dark prince after you, who may or may not have destroyed the entire hanger bay.
