Rujinu Tangled AU (with some elements from Arcane)--Overview/Background, Pt 3

So this post will be shorter, since I covered the most important background information about this AU in my first two posts, which you can read here and here. In this post, I’ll mostly be covering the Saja Boys here, plus the captain of the guard/head of the police for the kingdom. 

So as stated previously, the Saja Boys take the role of the tavern thugs in Tangled. The four Saja Boys own the tavern, which is located in disputed territory, in a place not fully claimed by Celine or Gwi-Ma, and the tavern sees patrons from both sides of the war, in addition to people from other parts of the kingdom. 

Mystery (no one knows his real name, whenever someone asks him what it is, he just shrugs) serves as security for the tavern. He has a staggering amount of guard dogs, and he seems to get more and more each year. He’s can fist fight very well, and has metal claws he wears that makes his fighting even more effective. 

Baby is the rather snarky bartender of the tavern. Baby is a nickname that he hates that the other three boys use to tease him since he’s the youngest. Baby doesn’t fight much, but he’s very agile and can dodge punches or thrown bottles very well.

Abby and Romance (their stage names) are daytime entertainment, as both are very, very talented singers and dancers. Romance isn’t a fighter, and Abby usually avoids it, due to not wanting to injure his face given how often he performs, but can fight quite well with brass knuckles and an axe, depending on how he feels. 

The nighttime entertainment, though, is when patrons REALLY flock in, since at night, the boys host illegal fights with lots and lots of betting going on. The guards/police force of the kingdom know about these fights but don’t do anything, given that a number of their own bet on such fights. Celine has explicitly forbidden Rumi, Mira, and Zoey from attending, betting on, and participating in such fights, but Zoey and Mira have been attending the fights for years, and eventually managed to convince Rumi to attend as well. Mystery occasionally fights in the ring and is quite good, and much to Mira and Rumi’s annoyance and exasperation, Zoey has a bit of a celebrity crush on Mystery, so to speak. Romance often narrates and offers commentary on the fights. 

As for the equivalent to the captain of the guard in Tangled for this AU, she isn’t fully fleshed out yet (I still need to design and name her), but I’m thinking that the captain of the guard/essentially the head of the police force is an old friend of Gwi-Ma’s, and is Gwi-Ma’s closest ally. She’s one of the few people who knows the identity of Gwi-Ma’s “secret weapon,” the lethal assassin Gwi-Ma sends after his enemies, and she also feeds Gwi-Ma intel about the state of the king and his court. She also has been struggling for years to catch Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, and has placed Wanted posters of them around the kingdom, although the fact that she’s never gotten a good look at their faces (and, obviously, cell phones don’t exist) hampers her ability to make good posters. She’s had her men search for the girls throughout the kingdom, but the girls are quite good at covering up their hair, their most distinguishable feature, when going about in public.

And that’s about it! I’ll probably drop some character designs for this AU that I have later.

Mystery is drunk ( complete with a goofy smile) of pets, belly rubs, and chin scratches from Zoey, while his tail is wagging.Nothing will make him leave. Think about how cute that will be!

Mystery is the good boy golden retriever. He loves the pets and scritches and will keep his head patiently in Zoey's lap until she gives him more. Wagging his tail the whole time!

Baby also enjoys the pets, especially on his head. But whereas Mystery is a sweet puppy dog, Baby is the cat that gives you a death glare as soon as you stop and hooks his claws into your skin as a warning that you better keep going. Or else.
