Baltimore Comic Con: Day 3
The final day came and it started out like all the rest. Wake up, shower, eat breakfast, get on the train, get to the con center.Â
However, the first thing I did today was try to hit up the Amanda Conner/ Jimmy Palmiotti booth. For the last few days when i needed to walk away from the table, I was trying to get them to sign the 4 Starfire comics I had, since in those books one of my two favorite all time super heroes was reintroduced into the main DC line. That hero is Atlee. If you do not know who that is, sorry but I wonât go into it here. That is a post all in of itself.
So 10:00 am and I go to her booth. Line is already long and there is a cap on people. by 10:10, I am back at our booth. Little bummed but hey, thems the breaks.
I did try one more time before the end of the Con and I did get my books signed. That evil âline capâ sign was 2 people behind me when I was able to get in line.
Over the course of the day, we sell 6 books, bringing our final con total to 30 copies sold. Again, we are a group of no names right now and selling 30 books is amazing to us. However, today 2 book sales stand out. The first is Maryâs long time friend and creator of Bloop: Steve Conley. He has been a great friend to us and always wanted to see us get more involved in the comic book world. He was more than happy to buy a book from us, even when we would have given him one for free. The second person who I very much remember buying our book was Sarah from Interrobang Studios! Mary had some things she wanted to buy from her and we just started a conversation. Sure enough, after talking to her, she came over to our booth that same day and happily bought our comic. It was an amazing feeling that she liked Maryâs art. Hopefully she read it and liked my writing. ^-^
Sunday comes to an end, I am tired at the end of the con. John Gallagher helps us figure out how to properly send to the state the sales tax we need to send. We pack up our things and say our good byes. One more train ride and one last supper together and Mary and I say our good byes to each other. After an hour car ride I am back home and just kind of die when my head hits my own pillow in my own room.
We had an amazing convention and I think next year will be a sure thing for selling as well. We met great people, sold way more than we were expecting, and just had fun the whole weekend. Myself, I am looking forward to working with Mary on our next book, whatever we decide it is going to be.Â
