For anyone wondering, the PhD student's name is Myra Cheng.
Here's a link to an article about the study from the Stanford Report: link.
Across three preregistered studies, participants interacting with sycophantic AI became more convinced of their own rightness and less willing to repair relationships. Yet at the same time, participants rated sycophantic AI models as higher quality, more trustworthy, and more desirable for future use, which may explain why this behavior has persisted despite its harmful impacts.
Myra Cheng et al. "Sycophantic AI decreases prosocial intentions and promotes dependence." Science 391, eaec8352 (2026).
Antisemitism has always existed but it’s never felt this fucking exhausting to be Jewish in all my 21 years of life. Five years ago my non Jewish friends were empathetic when I told them about antisemitism I experienced and now I know I can’t even discuss it with them five years ago I could draw fan art of fictional characters celebrating Hanukkah without getting death threats five years ago I could hang out in niche hobby spaces without seeing someone crochet a Star of David with a slash through it five years ago there weren’t posts on my city’s subreddit minimizing and denying the Holocaust and saying it doesn’t need to be taught in schools five years ago I could wear my Magen David necklace without being spat on five years ago I assumed I could have friendships with people who aren’t Jewish and now I feel like I’m constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop or for them to “find out” my “secret” like fuck man. When am I allowed to feel afraid?

I actually do think we should discourage women from becoming housewives. Do not become financially dependent on a man. That's how a lot of women ended up dead over the years. A man gets violent suddenly and you have to choose between homelessness or potentially dying at his hand because you have an enormous gap in your resume and no degrees or certifications or anything that will help you pursue a career that will allow you to be financially independent. He owns your bank account. His name is probably the one on the car. Try and leave and he can report it stolen. Where will you go then?
Don't become a housewife.
And if you do become a housewife, take steps to protect yourself. Make sure you’re legally married, for starters; stay-at-home girlfriends have very little legal recourse to claim their partner’s assets in a breakup. Make sure your name is on the house deed/rental agreement, and have your car in your name, even if your spouse is paying for it. Have your spouse transfer money every month into an account solely in your name, so you can buy yourself things without needing permission, but also so you can save up to leave if needed.
If your spouse fights you on any of this, then don’t quit your job. The tradwife to poverty pipeline is real, and so is financial abuse.
also, many women/people experience controlling behaviour and domestic violence from their partner for the first time during pregnancy. don’t risk thinking “he’s just stressed, it’ll get better when the baby comes” because it won’t. neither you and your child will ever be safe with that man. get out as early and safely as you can

I love this illustration of Yue so much. She looks so young, yet so resigned to her fate. She's practically drowning in that giant parka.
Intellectual property laws used to mean something when it targeted the consumer.
Now the venture capitalist steals the IP to make derivative AI bullshit.

"You can criticise Israel without being antisemitic."
Yes, I can. Can you?!
Exactly this. 😏
I completely agree with the criticism of AI here, but the "If you don't like the process of writing, then don't be a fucking writer" comment is Writers-Who-Hate-Writing erasure, and tbh I'm not here for it. Yes, I fucking loathe the entire writing process from start to finish. Yes, I will always opt to keep on writing anyway. Yes, WE EXIST.
reblogging this to add that I often think about the old man yaoi mangaka on bluesky who said "the phrase that finally convinced me that the English language is truly beautiful was 'this shit is so ass'"
Jews did not need a state because it was “promised” to us. We needed a state because all your grandparents were happily killing us.
Our ethnic ties to the land influenced the location of our state. But they were not actually the reason that we decided to build one.
Most of my politics about Israel can be summed up as "no, I don't think Israel should have done that, but given that you're under the impression that Israel is the first country do do violence ever, I'm not going to have this conversation with you. Come back when you have indicated you've read a history book about... honestly anywhere ever, actually."
Anyways I can’t show you the reply because they blocked me but someone just called Israel “the most oppressive regime in the Middle East”.
That is the exact attitude I’m talking about. You have looked at a region of the world where the IRGC killed over 30,000 protestors in the past few months, where the Taliban denies women medical care, and where Yemen has banished and jailed every last Jew in the country and told me that the most oppressive regime in the area is the only country that gives Arab and Jewish citizens equal rights.
Does Israel oppress Palestinians? Yes. (Many other countries do too, but something tells me these people aren’t ready for that conversation).
But to call Israel the greatest oppressor in the world—that’s the antisemitism.
