I was addicted to ai chatbots in 2022-23 and looking back, it's fucking horrifying what they do to you. I ended up spending entire nights not sleeping and using character ai, and the only thing that actually broke me out of it was when it hit me that I 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘺𝘱𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘪 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵.
You are not a hypocrite or a bad person for being addicted to something that's literally designed to draw you in and keep you there like a pitcher plant to a fly.
However, these chatbots actively destroy people's lives through addiction and the instant-pleasure nature of of them, and I highly reccomend attempting to break free of them
Talking with a program that is designed to give humanlike responses while also being programmed to please you and never throw up objections to anything you say (and allows you to reroll and edit responses you don't like) will slowly erode your social skills and rather than helping with social anxiety, actually cause you to sink further snd further into it. I am speaking from personal experience.
I don't mean this even just from an anti-generative-ai perspective, I'm saying this because it's an addiction that can get just as bad as alcohol and abusing opiods.
Like nicotine, the constant feedback loop of ego affirming and rerolling for responses you like is just going to make it even more difficult to break free from introversion (and I saw this as a quite introverted person.)
You can ALWAYS can break the cycle. It may take a while, but you'll ultimately be happier in the long run. If this post helps even 1 person, I wish you well.

Okay but for anyone who legit wants to know how to calculate it correctly:
The elbow joint on average rests a couple inches higher than the navel, so if you measure how long the distance is from the middle of the shoulder to that point then you have the length of the upper and fore arms!
So if anyone’s wondering about legs too, the simplest rule of thumb is that the length from the top of the leg to the knee is equal to the distance between the top of the leg and the bottom of the pectorals:
And I wanna stress that when i say “top of the leg” i’m not talking about the crotch (please don’t flag me tumblr it’s an anatomical term) i’m talking about the point where the femur connects to the pelvis, which is higher up on the hips:
It’s easier to see what I’m talking about in this photo of a man squatting:
So yeah if you use that measurement when using this technique you should get fairly realistically proportioned legs:
But remember! messing with proportions is an important and fun part of character design! Know the rules first so you can then break them however you please!
hot take: Kris shouldn't be a combination of Frisk and Chara or any other character. It goes against the themes of individuality that are a crucial part of their story.
One of the Deltarune fandom jokes that kinda still rubs me the wrong way is the "Kris should just be a good vessel like Frisk and Chara and just shut up and listen"
"Ugh Kris is so angsty and mopey, why aren't they more like Frisk"
That sort of thing.

This emphasizes exactly what I mean (go check out @lunatikartz btw)
of course this is about a game and all, just kinda spilling my thoughts
saw art of them and was compelled to put in my own take...
Years ago I wished people would acknowlege Toriel's flaws and not boil her down to "perfect goatmom who can do no wrong".
I got that when Deltarune chapter 3 and 4 came out, but in the worst way possible.
Should Toriel have called Kris? Yes
Should she have taken a break from dancing with Sans to check on them and ask them how their day was?
Is she a horrible person because she made these mistakes? No
She's both a parent and a preschool teacher and is juggling both of these responsibilities at the same time. It's understandable that she'd want to have a fun night to herself alone with her (partner?).
At the same time... I somewhat understand why it's happening. The Deltarune (and Undertale) fandom mainly consist of peoole in their teens and adults. Teens who several of which have likely had their parents divorce recently and are still struggling to cope with it.
Of course they're going to have a similar reaction to Kris. At that age, seeing one of your parents with a new partner, especially at home, feels like an unexpected intrusion upon a place you feel safe in. I think Toby did a great job getting across that uncomfortable feeling, and that's why there's been so much "Toriel is a horrible parent" "I hate sans" talk lately. I don't agree with it at all, but I see why it's happening.
hi i think
