Some people think that it's not possible to feel the emotions of characters on screen, but as an empath I 100% felt Erik's pain during this scene. I felt it in the pit of my stomach when he said this and I literally cried my eyes out in the theater. When I saw this gif a few minutes ago that same gut wrenching pain filled me and I have no fucking explanation as to why.
I love it because I have this 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 odd obsession with the 1800's and it's my favorite gothic horror book and movie, but I hate it because of the tragic ending. Like, I would NOT be able to kill him at the end. Call me selfish but the look he gives Mina just breaks my heart.

It was loud and you were drunk as hell but you couldn’t refuse another drink. Everyone was celebrating Peaky Blinder’s another victory. Tommy’s another victory – to be specific.
Your Tommy, your man... he was yours. His hand on your thigh, sipping on whiskey and laughing at the jokes told by others but he was yours and you were his. You were so proud of him, God, he was so handsome, so smart, so cocky… Clearly on his way straight to the very top.
“Let’s get out of here, love,” he whispered into your ear suddenly and you laid your hazy eyes on his. “Get some fresh air, eh? You look wasted.”
You nodded, a bit embarrassed by that comment about your drunken state. He helped you to stand up and led you out of the pub, no one even noticed that you two were gone. Cold night’s air brought you back to your senses very quickly although you were still tipsy. You didn’t even realize that Tommy was actually taking you somewhere.
“What are you doing?” you giggled when he led you inside the abandoned factory. “You want to fuck here? It’s too cold tonight, Tom…”
“Don’t be silly, you’re too drunk to fuck,” he chuckled. “And so am I, don’t think it would work,” he added jokingly and you giggled.
“Oh, Tom…”
He squeezed your hand and took you to the staircase. You followed him without even thinking twice about his intentions. You trusted him with your own life.
“Turn around, love,” he whispered and put his arms around your shoulders protectively. You did what he said and gasped at the sight. You were on the top floor of the building, by the window with a broken glass. You could see whole Small Heath underneath you and some other parts of Birmingham in the distance. “Just look, (Y/N),” Tommy murmured into your ear. “It’s all gonna be ours soon, my love,” he kissed your temple and breathed in your scent as he rocked you in his arms slowly. “You’re enjoying the view?”
“Everything looks better from above, my King,” you mumbled, still tipsy and completely overwhelmed with the sight and his words. You could feel his smirk on the skin of your cheek as he was stealing you kisses over there.
“And you’re the only one the King would get on his knees for,” he whispered, “my Queen”.
