Why are you guys hating on LM? lmao she’s amazing. She gave us this amazing show which we all enjoy cuz it really is awesome. Just think for once and remember that without the vld staff there would be no Voltron and without Voltron there would be no SHIPS.

The ships aren’t what’s important here. Even people I follow… people I searched out desperately because I thought I’d actually found the few sane people in the fandom… are sending in useless questions. Questions that have been asked to death. Questions that are passive-aggressive. LM: I think with Lance, he’s grown so much. He’s no longer that guy who’s just going after her, going after her, and also he doesn’t necessarily know that she knows what the mice told her. But now that Lotor’s out of the picture, it says a lot to his character that he’s not immediately sidling up. He’s just trying to be there as a friend for her because he knows that’s what she needs right now. It’s a beautiful progression on a guy who’s developed into a man and is thinking more like a mature human being. 

JDS: I think also on the leadership tip, I think what’s cool is that it just kind of came naturally to him. It was his instinct to do, you know? He wasn’t thrust into the position, like you gotta call the shots. He just took the mantle on himself.

I Hated Voltron Before I Watched It

So, I used to go to a charter school, the equivalent to a private school where I live, and we only had about 500 students in the high school building. Out of those 500 students I’d like to say that at least 400 were weebs or watched some anime/cartoons. And out of those 400 at least 200 watched Voltron or knew what it was. It was kind of hard to avoid it, when everyone you talked to was obsessed with it.

Now don’t forget that this was about 2 years ago, which is about a year after Voltron: Legendary Defender originally came out if I remember correctly. At this point the fandom was still developing and wasn’t as crazy or big as it is right now, but it still scared me. 

All of my friends were, on a scale from “Voltron is lit” as 1 to “Omfg Shiro is daddy material” as 10, were “KLANCE IS CANON AND ‘DIRTY LAUNDRY’ IS THE SHIT”. Like, out of the 4 hours I would spend with them everyday and try to engage in conversations, they would either ignore me or somehow change it to involve Voltron, Klance, or “Hunk is way underappreciated”. It felt like I was the only sane one in my friend group.

So, I did the only logical thing to do in a situation where you feel left out. I went to the VLD wiki and skimmed though the information written about the characters and just the show in general. To put it simply, I was pleasantly surprised. 

I found that the characters and relationships were realistic and fans could relate to them on a person level. The show wasn’t just about a bunch of LGBTQ+ friends floating in space. (I actually thought a lot of them were gay because of all the ships my friends fought about.) So, I was like why not give it a shot? This seems lit. BUT THEN

Like 2 weeks later I still hadn’t started watching the show and an event made me never want to.

One of my friends came from hot topic and started ranting about how she “hated all Sheith shippers” and “they are disgusting”. (I’m actually not friends with her anymore because of her lack of respect towards people who didn’t agree with her opinions.) And when I asked her why her response was too disrespectful to even share. 

And that wasn’t the only time I saw this kind of behavior. It wasn’t even just Klance shippers that dissed other ships, there was at least a couple fans of each ship that were attacking each other. It was all of them. They repeatedly called each other names and practically gave no fucks that they were arguing about a cartoon. 

I know that a lot of people might be mad at me for saying all of this. And, before you guys call me out, yes. I am aware that a good amount of fandoms are like this, but Voltron is one of the few I’m involved in and none of the others are this bad. It was so bad that the fandom made me hate this funny, adorable show in general, so who’s to say it’s not ruining the show for other people too.

i’m not saying that you shouldn’t share your views because it’s normal to debate about aspects of a show, but to full out ignore the fact that people have feelings is a completely different thing in and of itself. 

The whole avoiding Voltron thing had gone to shit when I invited over a friend and they forced me to watch a couple episodes with them. I loved the show and still do. I love it for saving me from the black hole that is shipping countries and reading fanfics about ww1. Thank you Voltron!!

Basically this post was towards all the people who share their opinion rudely. I don’t even care if you’re joking because threatening to break someone’s wrists or wishing them to die is not okay. 

So, if you care even the slightest bit about how much effort the creators/writers/voice actors of Voltron put into the show for us, start showing it by respecting them. I fucking love Lauren and still would even if I didn’t agree with how the show’s story is progressing. 

There is a line that shouldn’t be crossed and it was, so take a step back and look at where your standing.
